  • Omg, soup accomplished!!!

Instead of kaffir leaves I plucked grapefruit leaves from my small tree in the back and they worked! I would suggest to anyone missing the leaves possibly find a neighbor who has a citrus tree or go to a plant nursery and "borrow" some.

My asian grocer also had just ground up lemon grass and frozen red chilis and it still didn't matter. The soup turned out great!

Thank you kai~ THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

  • Sometimes this soup comes with onions and cilantro. I imagine the cilantro is thrown in last but when do the onions go in? And are they marinated?

  • hi,

cud u plz tell me frm whr i can but lemon grass and those chillies???

  • Seriously...Is this recipe firey hot? Where can I get some lime leaves?

  • @TheAdmiralsemmes They are Kaffir Lime Leaves, you can get them at your local Asian market.

  • do you use white or dark chicken meat?

  • can I use dried lemon grass??

  • hi kai, i watch and make your videos all the time. I assume you work as a cook and the meals you cool are probaly not like these. i go to alot of thai restaurants and they have alot more flavour and spices, more depth in taste. Can you make any videos like that? i you now what im even talking about. i really want a soup thats really spicy and has alot of depth in the taste, i dont know if you will read this and its a longshot you would have the time to explain videos like that but thanks anyway

  • คุณไก่เห็นแล้วหิวเรย อิๆ ^^

  • I made this today!! Thanks Kai!!

I had to adjust because I made a few servings but as long as you use similar portions of Fish sauce/lime juice you should be ok.

I didn't use cherry tomatoes because they want 4 bucks so I used a can of straw mushrooms (drained) and It came out great!!

  • withinthedarkmind Cherry Tomatoes over here in England are so cheap(approx $2 per kilo) but I followed your idea and used straw mushrooms (and added a little angel hair noodles) and it was delicious,..I would'nt have thought of the straw mushrooms,..so cheers for the pointer ;-) and also, thanks to Kai for making the recipie so easy to follow.

  • I made a pot of this today!

Had to use dried kaffir lime leaves, but it still tastes so yummy!

  • nothing beats cat fish!!!

  • I would love to see some add a Tom Khai Kai soup recipe.

  • hmmm can i add mushroom?

  • yeeeaaaahhhh i work for kroger. do you live in the midwestern US?

  • why did you thumbs down me? kind of irrelevant what you think of a question i wasn't asking you.

  • It looks delicious but it's not an authentic Thai dish. It's a simplified one.

  • if it's made by a thai it's authentic thai.

  • If cooked right this is the best soup ever.

  • Tom Khai Kai.

  • And if not can the chicken stoke be baxters chiken broth?

  • It would be an expensive way of getting stock.

Most supermarkets in the UK carry chicken stock in sort of plastic sachets now.

  • Does the chicken broth have to be clear..?

  • how many people does this serve?

  • wow looks really tasty :) is there a way to do this vegetarian?

i just hope i can find some lemon grass around here...

  • its like a native dish in the philippines called Sinigang....!

  • We cook it the same way but we add 3 cans of

coconut milk and baby corn and no chicken broth we add shrimp and chicken and lemon grass, mushrooms, gunga, lime, and fish sause, and past sweet and sour past and it it the best, we even feel high after we eat it can not stop laughing and feeling so comfortabul. mmmmm mmmm good. and no chilies.

  • looks yummy !! MMMMMM ... mmmmmm ... BITCH !

  • Kai can you please post a video showing how to make chinese hot n sour soup? thanks.

  • Wow. That looks tasty. I'm really sick right now with the flu. If I wasn't so bad I'd go to the store and get the ingredients...

  • how can chicken be cooked more then 3 minutes

  • because the chicken is small not big.

  • white meat chicken cooked faster than dark meat.

  • Made this soup today and it was so delicious and so easy to make! It is actually one of my favourite! Thanks man!

  • I got to try this one. Looks simple and at the same time, really delicious. Youre gifted friend. Do you have videos on tom yum goong? I was thinking if this is the one with tamarind sauce. Thanks friend.

  • Hi ltkman thanks for the video. What kind of chiles are they? Pikri chiles? What kind of lime leaves are they? Kafir?

  • Yes, It (phrik-khee-nuu) chilies, and Kaffir lime leaves...r u Thai?

  • Kai what can I use instead of those chilies and the kaffir lime leaves I live in California. I would love to make this soup but we dont have those ingridients around here is there any mexican chilies I can use and regular lime leaves.

  • i live in california too.... you can find stuff like this at health food stores or even go to asian grocery stores where they sell different products and produce from the orient. you can adjust it to suit your tastes of course. I have found in the times that i have made it that making it with some coconut milk and mushrooms instead of tomatoes comes out really good. Also try going to Trader Joe's you could find most if not all the ingredients there

  • thx for posting , looks very simple to make

  • I got to try this. But how long did you say you cook the whole thing? 10 or 3 min?

  • 3 minutes.

  • That looks really great. I will have to try it.

    Thank you for posting.
