  • Nice Video, Very Helpful..

  • Very helpful ! Good job

  • Good video, thanks!

I also read somewhere else that the Literature Review should be organized by THEMES as opposed to CHRONOLOGY / ALPHABETICAL... But that I guess may also depend on the type of Literature Review.

    Thanks

  • @greeppl -->> If you have received specific instructions to organize the lit review by themes, then that's definitely what you should do.

  • boom! I like your speech and thanks for teaching me.

  • @BirdyTai -->> LULZ

  • Excellent video

  • very inciteful. thank you

  • So basically, we are taking snapshots of major works related to our narrow subject to show our understanding and also updating the reader, correct? Thanks a lot for the video

  • @alittlebitofmoi -->> Yes, and building a narrative around those snapshots using an appropriate and effective pattern of organization: chronological, spatial, Q&A, etc.

  • Brilliant... Nice and simple, Thank you!

  • @kwood1991 -->> You're welcome. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such a nice comment.

  • Is this for like a research paper because my literature review is my essay and is 2000 words.

  • @JessMurgatroyd --> You may have been asked to complete an assignment that is a literature review or contains a literature review. But it is unlikely you were asked to do an essay that is a literature review. An essay and a literature review are usually considered two different types of academic writing.

  • OMG! thank you SO much! this has been very helpful!

  • OMG I wish my professors were as down to earth and clear as you are! You've made this so easy to understand, and I appreciate it! I probably speak for every student that see your videos...thank you.

  • WOW! Thank you for those generous words. Really glad it helped!

  • Num -->> My advice is to start with Google on these. There are clear definitions of each of the three frameworks and how to use them when designing a project. Good luck!

  • @peakdavid -->> Thanks, but I already did this...the more i read the more i confused...as a researcher you can understand and feel my anxiety...The whole world of research seems to me like black cloud...what should i do? Being professor, I did what I can do....Were that some one there to guide me...Regards

  • 1- What is Research Framework, Conceptual Framework and Theoretical Framework

2-The clear difference between these three term : Research Framework, Conceptual Framework and Theoretical Framework

3- The place of each framework in Thesis/Dissertation/Article

3-The vivid elements of each framework and where to include it

    4) What is role of Worldview and Philosophical view in devising a framework? (this debate can not be winded up by just saying Positivism and interpretivism)

  • Wow!!! Thank you so much on make the best presentation on what a literature review is. My professor is totally unaware of how to explain the topic and won't teach it. Thanks again. :-)

  • @apostledre -->> Thanks for watching and for the good words. For more information on literature reviews, just Google the terms. Lots of good stuff out there.

  • Why the heck did I not watch it before !!!

  • Why do lecturers make everything so damn complicated...I watched this video and know exactly what it is

  • This was so well-explained. I only wish I had seen it before the semester ended. I think my Prof (God Bless Her) needs to provide explicit instructions such as yours for her next class. Lit reviews call for attention to form and structure, and that APA citation (Lawd have mercy!!)...understanding that is akin to acquiring a Second Language! Those APA folks can't make their minds up! Every Monday morning there seems to be an update so woe unto you if you're looking at an older version. Thank You!

  • jakes --> Thanks for the good words! Sounds like you have had some, er, interesting experiences with APA, 6th edition, 1st and 2nd printings. A new printing is supposed to be just that--no major changes to the content. The substantial "changes" and corrections in the 2nd printing should have resulted in a 7th edition, but APA ego got in the way. Students have suffered as a result.

  • very well explained

  • Very useful presentation! I must now get started on my lit review! Thanks :-)

  • @Lorraineoconnor123 --> Good luck, Lorraine!

  • @peakdavid I am writing a paper on the Literature Review and would like to quote this video as a source. I have searched through the University of Marylands database and can't find you on there, could you possibly supply me with the relevant information please. All the best.

  • @elfordian -- Hey, first be sure your prof doesn't mind you quoting a YouTube vid in an academic paper. Justin Bieber. Fred. Annoying Orange. Just sayin. Second, to find the citation format, just go to Google and type in "MLA citation format youtube video" or same thing for APA. All the info you need is here on the channel. Good luck!

  • hi! how do you write research questions? is there a specific way of writing for qualitative and quantitative research? I'm struggling with research questions. would appreciate your explanation. i also do not understand the difference between conceptual framework and theoretical framework. appreciate your explanation on this too. many thanks.

  • For advice on how to write research questions, please see my YouTube video "Choosing and Narrowing Research Topics"-- For the "differences between qualitative and quantitative research," just Google that. Conceptual framework comes after you have established the theoretical framework. Again, Google that: "conceptual framework theoretical framework"

  • excellent ^

  • thank you very much ..

  • You're very welcome, zash. Let me know anything else you'd like to see.

  • @peakdavid can u please teach us what is conceptual frame work?

  • @zashgal -- a conceptual framework just means your slant, your angle on the topic. For example, your topic is "social media." Well, you slant can be "impact on education of the growth in social media." So one way to organize your research is Impact #1, Impact #2, Impact #3, and so on. A conceptual framework implies a relationship between your slant on the topic (concept) and your presentation outline (framework). Conceptual framework.

  • @peakdavid thank you.. it helped me alot. =)

  • Thanks a greta viddd but im still struggling..lol.. im writing a lit review at university on a research proposal. the literature review has to be around 1250 words but i do not know where to start and how..lol..

  • @safiii786 -- Start with a research question. Please see my video on that. After research question comes annotated bibliography. After that, follow the instructions in this video and the second one. Everything starts with the research question.

  • thank you sooo much, your so helpful!

  • @Nasibajaanak -- you are most welcome. Let me know any other help that yo need. ~peakdavid

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @trinashinead -- yvw. Good luck with yours.

    David

  • Thank you for posting this. I'm writing a lit review in APA format and I really like how you presented this information. It reminded me to avoid trying to prove a point with literature. The review's purpose is to get my audience caught up, like old friends getting together. I like that.

  • @mine1224 -- hey, really glad this worked for you. Good luck!

  • Thanks for posting this! Very resourceful! I am doing a lit review on a medical topic and was wondering whether the same format applies on medical lit review pieces for journals as well. Thanks again!

  • @TheAviationfreak--Yes, the same general principles should apply. The ultimate source for how to format a lit review would be a previously published example in your target publication or class. Good luck!

  • very informative video on research methodology, literature review but audio is very low, i can not hear it. please make it loud.

  • @mrskbabu -- "very informative video on research methodology, literature review but audio is very low, i can not hear it. please make it loud."

Thanks for your comment. I checked the video's audio. It is a little lower than it should be, with as I turned up the volume slider on my computer, I couldn't get past 80% without discomfort from being too loud. If you have a Windows XP system, you may wish to check your wave settings.

  • Again...another great video. I like the the way in which you explain things. I kept looking up information on how to write a Lit Review and thought I had gotten the idea. After viewing your video I can truly admit I understand just exactly what to do. Thnx for recommending this video. I will definitely share this with others.

  • @benaineg -- good luck on your lit review. The key is the outline: the way in which you categorize the studies (the way they are tied together). So do your outline first, then have your prof maybe take a look. Then the writing will be much easier. Don't strive for a "perfect summary" of the sources. Just grab the important stuff that is relevant to you.

  • our prof wants a literature review turned in for a grade. nothing else. is it ok to follow what you say to do here for that? Thx

  • @assandracomplexx -- I would have to see his/her exact instructions to know for sure, especially instructions about length. But, yes, regardless of length or number of sources, this video presents a distillation of the most common elements of literature reviews. Now, about the first three letters of your name . . . ahem . . .

  • Good vid. Saved it to my playlist. Why don't you try Master Cleanse for that belly?

  • Good stuff, dude.

  • Thanks so much, peakdavid! This will definitely help my students.
