I'm a bit confused as I thought Sais were only used in Southern KF styles, (especially those from Fujian) such as F. White Creane, Ngor Chor and others. I'm a bit suprised that this Northern style has it at all.
Firstly, this is an imperfect form, and so I give you credit for putting it up on youtube as I know there are a number of keyboard warrirors that get their jollies from ripping into people.
Secondly, my advice. I have not studied Wah Lum, (Wah Lum is Northern Mantis, right?) so if some of my suggestions make no sense, tell me :).
From my own amateur observation, it looks like you've got it good with the sais, but I feel that your base and some footwork could be tightened perhaps (cont.)
In the beginning, I would lower the stance a little bit. Of course, if Wah Lum is what I believe, then I understand that you can't go real deep :).
Looking over the video a few more times, I do believe that the only real thing that needs improvement is the footwork and stances; you do well with the sais though. The part where you do a jumping crescent kick and transition to mountain climbing stance is done rather well, though!
Some parts (and maybe it's just the video), it looks like you don't have enough jing, but I obviously can tell that you have it in you and you have the right idea.
Put simply, I would tighten the footwork and emphasize more jing. The light footwork (and some kicks, from what little I can see in the video) can make or break the appearance of the form, from my perspective.
In case you were wondering, I have a background (as far as traditional arts goes) in Long Fist, Ba Gua (Jiu Long style), and some bits of other arts that I can emulate but not duplicate (like 5-Animal, Choy Lay Fut, and southern arts like Green Dragon Kuoshu and Hung Gar).
I've practiced on and off for the past 20 years, but I'm far from a master ;).
work this form more slowly until you have each stance and movement perfect. know the application of each movement. improve your stances by training them seperately on their own. try investigating the training methods of modern wushu to improve your conditioning. if your instructor doesn't teach you applications of these movements or if you're not doing daily sparring, you may want to reevaluate your participation in this martial arts school.
Strange, I have seen this same form performed by present wah lum sifus using double butterfly knives instead of double sai. Have you learned this form already with the sai?
Good job anyway! Just need to work out and improve the wudipma stance at the beginning of the form! Keep working! :-)
which wah lum school are you from?
or no offense, you one of those who do wah lum but not a real wah lum?

you are the reason formal martial arts is nothing but an art form.
