@splurge100 thank u for this upload :).. im also currently tryin to loose weight ..my i ask u how long u was walking the hill for ..i mean how many minutes , how often do u suggest walkin up hill 2 loose weight fast? thank u
Depends, age, weight (fat% included/ i.e. more muscle less fat means more calories burned) your sex, how fit you are (i.e is walking a hard workout for you/ unfit or is it relatively easy/fit) and genetic factors are all needed to somewhat calculate acurately. Even when you use a heart rate monitor like this bloke you are only really getting an estimate.
At the end of the day working out is for health and wellbeing, your weightloss will come from diet if you eat too much you cant burn it off
do jogging with sprints,,, warm up,, jog slowly,, little bit quicker,,, then sprint for 30secs,, slow down but dont stop, slow jog again for a min or so., then sprint... and keep doing sprints this will help burn off calories..you can burn off as many calories in a 10min skipping session as you can in a 30min jog apparently.
hmm this is really helpful, thanks! :) I think I'll go find me a big hill and job up a couple of times haha. I'm hoping to get my weight back down to 86, so we'll see what happens
Even though I normally jog on the flat, I like to go up a steep hill for a change. It can also feel warmer on cold days since you get sheltered by the trees from wind and rain assuming you have a forest around you.
Thanks for the nice comments. I am planning to make more outdoor exercise videos, but I will try and include as many interesting scenes as I can along the route.
I also hope I inspire people to get outside and exercise more to keep healthy in mind and body by exercising in the natural surroundings in your area.
Japan is really beautiful. I was stationed in Okinawa for about 7 years total and my wife is from Nagoya. I love the people and the food.I can't believe I watched a video of a dude walking up a hill or 10 minutes! It was actually kinda cool.
Yeah, it makes the exercise more interesting having nice surroundings. This is in Japan.
I am starting from the road beside a river that I normally run alongside. This trail is up the side of a hill through a park and forest up to the top where there are various viewpoints over the city and you can even see the sea on a clear day.
Near this there are various other interesting routes up the hill. I should record these sometime. Thanks everyone for your comments!
Thanks for the nice comment. Fortunately, where I live it seems to be safe to be alone in parks and trails. The biggest risk may be stepping on a snake or running into a bear. But I only saw a couple of snakes so far.
If you have a basic level of fitness and stop if you have pain, I don't think you will damage your knee. The knee bend is not so great.
But if you really want to push yourself, you could bunny hop up steps. I used to do that in Karate training and then get beaten up in the dojo afterwards to cool down :-)
Today I went for a jog for about 47 minutes on flat terrain alongside the river that flows below the hill in this video. I recorded 700 calories burned after a few minutes rest outside my home.
This kind of exercise is interesting in that you take in the surroundings as you exercise.
If you don't go mad, your knees should be OK, if you are obese stick to level terrain and power walk.
I got the watches from sports shops. The timer watch was around $10 but the Polar calorie counter watch was something like $100. It is used in conjunction with a strap which goes around your chest to sense the electrical impulses of your heart.
Polar are a popular brand that market watches that are useful to people involved in sports since the watches can record your heart rate and provide useful data to aid your training.

will this work on a treadmill if you have it on an incline?
savvy1954 3 years ago
Sure, but it won't be as much fun I suspect.

@splurge100 yes but not all of us live in asia where there are mountains and beautiful temples
Skate4life12396 1 year ago
Yes, absolutely.
I sometimes run on a treadmill, 10 mins is usually about 150 calories, on level 8 running.

Briskly walking up the hill can be enough.

Silivrenwolf 3 years ago
Well, I am moving up the hill as fast as I can and most of the time I am not running.
It is a very steep incline which may not be so apparent from the video.
I will maybe film it again now the weather is warm and provide more commentary on the surroundings.
Thanks for your interest.

What type of camera were you using? Did you add in the carrying of the camera?

A mini camcorder so not heavy. I think I added a bit to the weight setting in the watch to account for clothes and trainers.
