I bet that JMJ can imagine, the sound. Hear it ih his imagination and make the synth to play it, than make a few more incredible sounds that fit with other sounds and create a perfect melody with this sounds. And that is the TOP of music skills. Not only USE instruments (via ALL rock, metal and other sh*t bands, YES famous too) but to create new music and SOUND with the instrument that only can be done with synths and that is for me not making music but CREATE it from the basics from single wave

In one forum i`am in a discussion about one polish band. They play bluesrock. From their fans i always hear that lyrics are great and music have a soul. That this band brings out feelings. Its easy to wrote sone catchy lyrics and play overdrive guitar and some drums bas etc. etc. to it. But compose music with sound and melody and bring feelings only by music... THAT is perfection and THAT is true music

how can you dare to compare Jarre and Miles ?! Miles had some great tunes, sure, but Jarre was one of the pioneer of the analogic synthesizer music (Moog...).

He had only few precursors in this field (Tangerine dream, Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Ashra Tempel, Klaus Schulze...)

Jare released La Cage (100% electronic) in 1969. Early Kraftwerk (mainly non electronic at that time) released Oganisation in 1970. Ash Ra Tempel (mainly non electronic at that time) was released in 1971. Pink floyd did some electronic tracks, but that was not their main trend. Only Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze can compare to Jarre!
