It took me a while to read the first book because of how it was written. If she let it be darker I think it would have done better. But that's just my view.

I agree with everything you say. I really don't undstand the whole Night themed titles in Meyer's books. I mean, the average episode of Sesame Street is darker and more brutal than Twilight. I've read and like the Twilight books, I think that they're really great, actually. That's my opinion. But yes, you are absolute right about the whole "hero" thing. Cullen's problems ultimately revolve around things that he causes! That bugs me.

Yes he has a god complex, but his personality is way deeper and more mature than cullen. unlike the Gary Stue, Light has reasons to be a megalomaniac, being that he sees the world as rotten. Hell, just about any character named Edward is much better than Cullen.

Edward Penishands for example. I don't know if there's anything to compare regarding character development, but Penishands is definitely more hilariously entertaining than Cullen.
