  • This version is by far the best one ive heard! Enjoy Latshaw's!

  • Dear Conductor: Your expression at the end of this movement says it all. Thank you.

  • The first movement so joyous and modern. By 5 minutes in Beethoven has introduced three potential motivs. The third, with its staccato dance rhythm gets me up and in love with life! I cannot help smiling every time I hear it. Then comes the allegretto, surely one of the most yearning things ever set to a musical score. Wow!

  • In my opinion, this is the greatest symphony of Beethoven. Period.

  • why is it impossible to rate this video? the uploader is afraid of having over 9000 likes and 0 dislike or something?

  • i want to jump at 4:40

    such a joyful movement

  • One of the most emotional symphonies of history!

  • amazing is a huge understatement!!!!!!!!!

  • Here because i loved the 2nd....THUMBS WAY UP

  • Bello, bellisimo!

  • I would love to hear this live

  • Nodame Cantabile? ;)

  • Sehr Gut! So Schön!

  • thumbs up if you're here cause you loved the 2nd

  • like if Nodame Cantabile lead you here =D

  • Truly amazing composition done with gusto and verve As an 18 nyear old I heard Schubert's unfinished symphony and my future wife informed me to find Beethoven . Toscanini's recordings were available in a complete works. That purchase inspired me to learn and apply myself reliving the incredible accomplishment that Beethoven gave the world My life forever changed by this phenomenon of talent and work

  • his arms must get very tired

  • Yeah I'd say the 6th is my favorite overall but this is the best MOVEMENT of any of the nine. The finale is awesome.

  • Truly a wonder to behold. Fills the heart with glory and happiness!

  • Thankxfull!!

  • My favourite of Beethoven's symphonies.

  • @waldentree Mine too.

  • Exceptional quality. Thank you.

  • Beethoven was guiding this performance.

  • really i only heard his 9th one and this one

  • @lupaguy Hear number 5 and 6... now! (seriously, every second you loose is a great loss if you've never heard them before. Your life will be marked before and after having heard Beethoven's 5, 6, 7, and 9).

  • it's funny how when the conductor goes strong, the players bang their head. look at the guy at the far left

  • I love the story the music tells

  • This so wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this! I'm so glad there are still conductors out there who actually play the FULL piece of music by taking the repeat. As someone who is going the composition route it really begins to annoy me when conductors just disregard the repeats in Sonata form movements of symphonies! You include the repeat and make the whole piece just come to life! Thank you and I hope you continue to produce such glorious music!

  • My God that's a rush.. better than sex

  • @Mattathesis Elevated minds compare Beethoven and sex, enlightened minds combine them.

  • @hymnofashes haha!

  • @ruo58742 The way I hear it, it has both the intensity and depth of the fifth and the far out reaching of the ninth (and a bit of Ludwig's cheerful style as well). Maybe not as much as those two but the best part is that it possesses both.

  • Beyond words. This is of incredible beauty, intensity, dignity and life. The most wonderful 7th I have ever heard!

  • I heard this symphony in casa da música in Oporto this sunday. Truly beautiful

  • Magnificent!! The balance between precision and expression is quite superb! Surely this was how Beethoven meant it to be played.

    Thank you all so much.

  • same!!fairuznizal!!!

  • I like it! This song is appear in Nodame cantabile too..

  • Sounds of my childhood

  • i'm wondering what that exit sign means...

  • @thiramthiram Ha Ha! Youre right. That is pretty weird... ahaha

  • @thiramthiram

It means that, that's the door you have to take when the building is on fire........................

  • This is my favorite symphony by far... I prefer this to his ninth because, while it contains some extremely powerful moments, the ninth loses its beauty at parts. With this one, however, the entire piece catches ones breath and at no point lets it go.

  • my starts at 4:15

  • Can someone help me. I am looking for the Beethoven symphony (or movement thereof) in which the orchestra sounds like a 'wave'.. Probably a very vague description but I cannot do better:)

  • The man is a strong conveyor of Beethovens power.

  • At 4:40 it sounds like someone screaming "YES! YES! YES!!!" while running naked through the rain with their arms in the air.

  • @Crustaceans I love your description! I can totally visualize it... haha! This is my favorite part as well, and also the Intro song to the Japanese Drama "Nodame Cantabile" :)

  • Bravo! Love the instrumentation where you cannot hear the percussion!

  • i love this music... first time i heard this from drama nodame cantabile...

  • @FairuzNizal

Yeah!!! Nodame Cantabile is so pretty ^^

  • @FairuzNizal But in Nodame Cntabile the sound is not very soft like in this video.

  • this is wonderful~im sure it would sound much better live~

  • You just nearly brought tears to my eyes.

    Bravo, sir.

  • I rate this version as a close third behind Toscanini and Klemperer. Truely excellent dynamics - the key to the entire symphony and especially the first movement.

  • freedom in music

  • Bravo!!!!!

  • so great

  • I love how it kicks in at 1:00, such a powerful intro into a musical journey.

  • I love this symphony and this conductor really keeps the tempo under control. Too many try to rush it.

Also, I kinda couldn't keep my eyes off of the smokin' hot redhead cellist on the left. Love the ponytail.

  • My favorite part starts at 11:00 when it goes minor.

  • Bravo!!

This piece always make me cry somehow

    Awesome~

  • AAAHHHH!!!! I love it!!! Crank this Sh*T up in your headphones!!!!

  • this song sounds so...powerful!

  • oh god!! so beautiful!

  • Excellent! Incredible! Better than I remembered!

Mr. Latshaw, I inform you with pride that your performance of this movement is by far my favorite I have encountered. I am a very nit-picky listener, and in yours I would not alter one note, rest, inflection, nay, not even a sigh.

You make one mistake: at the very end of the piece, you neglect to repeat the entire monster at once. I shall now fix your error by a playlist which cycles this extensively, before continuing the bestest song of all.

  • @abetv: Well said! The video quality is quite poor, but I'm glad I overlooked that & gave this one a listen. The visual quality cannot do justice to how perfectly this piece was conducted & performed. I tend to shy away from downloading any of my Classical favourites performed by an Orchestra (for listening reasons only). This one has given me new hope. Now I'll have to go back through my favoruites & see if I can find more with this quality.

  • Bravo. This is by far my favorite symphony of beethoven's, and probably favorite piece of music period. The realness of this video as opposed to say, Karajans, is a big plus. Some just seem like acting. Job well done.

  • wow neat

anyone reading this? msg meeH! Xf

  • Very well done master! Bravo. I see what you mean.

  • exelente!!!!!!

la musica es la mayor creacion del hombre

  • @cholomon64 La musica no fue creada.. fue descubierta

  • Which orchestra are you conducting? You and they all do very well.

  • <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 [11:08 - 11:33] <3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO

  • BRAVO!

  • GREAT JOB!

i'm not quite know about the ochestra kind of things, but i do love the mvt 1 .. the best among 4 (for me)

although many says tat Carlos Kleiber's Symphony #7 is the best..mayb Carlos is indeed good in other 3, but i prefer ur mvt1..

sound more energetic, carlos sound more soft.

and i like ur style of conducting .. seems like u r enjoying the music .. GREAT!

  • I love this.

    4:13

reminds of a guy who lured the mouse of the town with his flute.

    was it peter piper?

  • you're thinking of the pied piper

  • Such passion is evident in Beethoven's masterful work, be it any of his symphonies or other compositions such as the moonlight sonata, etc, and it's good to hear a talented translation of this piece!!

  • This is masterful, Maestro! I hope to see you and the orchestra live one day! Thanks so much for posting these performances!

  • Bravo! This is my favorite symphony of Beethoven

  • i just wonder who it is and i found out tat is really d person who post it..thunderous applause 4 ya..u interpr8 it d way like other maestro did..but when hear it thousand times it just really ur version and like it.bravo

  • BRAVO!!!!! *claps hands to Chiaki-kun, Mine-kun, Kiyora-chan, Masumi-chan, Sakura-chan and the rest of Rising Star Oke*. This one I have to thank to Nodame-chan!! I cry everytime I hear it!

  • nice

  • Me too, me too! I'm a passionate fan of Chiaki! Oohh, I think I should watch it again *Dazing off*

  • it makes me have a very strong feeling

the others make me feel the children are lost during playing.

But you make me feel all people are very happy,

they do face the challenge and overcome it.

    this my feeling

  • Simply Amazing.

  • Wow... a conductor is like a superhero... =O

And this piece is profoundly different from another which I heard. I won't (or rather can't) say which is better

  • We have a local channel here in Florida where if you stay up late enough like 12 or so the local college channel on tv plays some classical and other types of music that you don't get to hear everyday.

  • Bravo. Fantastic.

  • Excelllent performance Maestro Clatshaw. One of the best I've ever heard

  • I recognize this theme from the Charlie Brown special "It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown!" This is the exact music that Snoopy dances to when he delivers Easter eggs to everyone! Yes, the Easter Beagle Does Exist! And this music proves it!

  • Who's your favourite composer mr latshaw?

  • I just love that part when the flute comes in with the melody around 4:10, and the big crescendo after that. That is my favorite part of the whole movement. Thank you very much for posting the videos!

  • Just great!

  • nice peice i've heard this piece so many times by other symphonic orchestras and still cant find the score for the bass

  • Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for posting your videos. I don't really know all that much about classical music, but I love to listen to it. I don't really get a chance to go to concerts often due to time and monetary concerns, so it's wonderful to see these shows for free (and from what a seat!) at home. Thanks again.

  • Thanks very much mr.latshaw.. beethoven's my favourite

  • Very nice!
