A V.C. Farewell- Gettysburg's Old Visitor Center Demolition

All in all ,the removal of the old visitors center was a terrible disgrace.I loved that location.Now ya have to pay, just to go inside the new one.It's neat and all, but i am disgusted that they tore the old (better)one down.All for the effort to restore the battlefield to its 1860's appearance.Many businesses were shuttered for this endeavor too from what i understand, but im not too sure of that.

@WWIIREBEL you are correct. I had a business on Steinwehr and all of my neighbors just stood on teh sidewalk looking for people. Everyone was up by O'Rorke's and wouldn't come down below Washington St. What's worse is that the Park Service has closed the old V.C. lots making parking impossible, which cuts the foot traffic to Steinwehr.

I used to hang out alot at Reg QM and Servant& Co.,plus a handful of others having a chat with the storekeepers,lol. I was down there for rememberance day and was shocked as there's no parking for the buses now.what a pain.

@WWIIREBEL yeah i just sold it. it was called Gettysbike Tours. We were at Patriot Point for two years before the new owners had everyone leave. Then we were near Rita's

I hope they saved the Electric Battlefield display.

they did. it's in pieces but that's just because that's how it's assembled. i think there is talk about binging it back, but we don't know where it will go at this point.... at least, I don't know.
