When I was 17 and this song came out there was this road in my town that if you did about 70, the song made an awesome soundtrack and would transition into the long sweeping part just as you went up a long curving hill. Unfortunately, in 1980 there was no place in the U.S. where you could legally do 70. Almost got busted a few times.
reminds me when i was a teen ager before the mtv, the FM radio stations would have for headphone only shows, where you listen to whole albums and kind of just close the world out and float away, my times have changed.
Great, my record skipped right around 4:50 and I didn't realize it because the drums lined up so perfectly when i was converting it to mp3, now I realize I need to redo it.
OMG what a great song. I've always had a personal bent towards JY's rockers and this one doesn't disappoint. One of many Styx songs that is a different experience when listened to with headphones (the bells at 2:20, and the whole bit at 3:49).
Another rocking solo (one of my favorite JY solos) and guitar/piano interlude is just amazing at 3:21.
I was around 12 when this came out as well and while a huge styx fan at the time became a metalhead in the 80's and totally forgot about them, thanks to whoever posted this, from the depths of my long term memory banks I can see the record spinning on the turntable while staring at the album cover, good times
@nothingface2112 lol me too..same age...REO Speedwagon came out with theirs at the same time i think, cant remember the name of it but i had both on vinyl and left them outside on my record player in the summer...warped the shyt out of them..discovered Rush and Iron Maiden right after this album and they are still my two faves, Cheers!
Ill never forget camping in my backyard and never hearing this song before and listening to it on the record player and scared the crap out of me starting at the 3:49 part. 12 years old and out in the camper all by ourselves hearing that was not cool. I look back and it dont get much better than those days. Peace...
love all the instruments playing all together, we all wanna be freeeee! lol

JY had a lot to do with me wanting to learn guitar as a teen...prime example of his great guitar/vocal work in this tune!

@Zachy999 I love Styx, but Aku Aku is a VERY disappointing song

Styx has some many good songs like this that were overlooked because of the "greatest hits" songs, so some of them never had a chance.
