Poor Guy my Molly I think he might have fin rot or just an old fish hes been at the bottom of the tank allot while his mate will not leave his side, I am going out tonight to get some med's I thought he was sleeping but lately new symptoms are starting to say otherwise. All the other fish are Healthy its just him.
@DarkDyami good luck! I'll post a vid of my new boy, Swarley. I loved Pooty Tang I do think I gave him a lot of happy days, but he did eventually die. After about a year or 2 I got my new fish, and it's kind of amazing how easy it is when they are already healthy.
@hnek Yup it is ya I can't wait to see the new videos, Sadly both my molly's died the female was due to give birth this week and after she died my male died and now its just my Beta and my Pelco (still under treatment though)
It is much easier when their healthy by far, I been watching videos on scaring and looks like my Beta Missy has allot of scar tissue around her fins I am wondering if she got in a fight with a fish or two before they put her in the little jars they do.
Pooty Tang had too many years of it before he was under my care to really recover fully, but his daily life was scaled up dramatically when he became mine. If they are young and you're on top of it, cleanliness etc then it shouldn't be a problem.
@laura999991 fin rot sucks, but cleaning the tank and using the right stuff in the water like stress coat and aquarium salts, maybe melafix etc--- if they are young and otherwise healthy, that should do the trick. Just have to be vigilant.
when they are in bad conditions, like water not getting changed often enough, big shifts in temp or pH or anything that causes them enough stress with a lowered immune system.
Keeping all the conditions stable should prevent it from happening. yeah, poor baby. He was a tough one though, and held on for a lot longer than I expected after rescuing him.
Aww poor baby, i have a super delta that has fin rot at the moment, i am treating him with bettafix, but i heard over the net that it doesnt really do anything, so i might buy something stronger. I hope your baby gets better.
Well, I messed up with the filtered tank trying to keep the pH steady, which hit him really hard, and though I switched back to the still tank and kept everything as balanced and clean as possible and he was such a tough guy, he never fully recovered and died in the late spring. :^( A little Bettafix is good as an additive to speed healing.Best thing is to keep all the levels steady (temp, pH, etc) and the water clean. I do miss my boy. I wish a speedy recovery for yours.
Oh i see, i am lucky our tapwater here is very good, ph is always neutral, and not alot of horrible stuff in the water.
I am using a fungal multicure, it has malachite green and methylene blue in it aswell as other things, i hope he gets better soon, sorry about your fishie...
need help reply quick my crowntail betta had like a black tail and it was fallind peice by peice is it the female in the tan kthe problem? my old betta was not like that
I do think the actual rot has stopped. Now it's just going to take a long time for regrowth to happen, especially given the severity of deterioration and his age which is about 2 years or so. Older fish take longer to regrow than younger ones.
I don't know about the "peroxide trick" but I'm keeping his water clean, stable and warm. He's even been making some groups of bubbles on the top, which tells me he's a happy fish, and hopefully a healing fish.
I guess I jumped to conclusions too quickly. Very sorry about that, as so many betta videos on youtube are of bettas being cared for poorly. Kanaplex is a good one to treat him with, stronger so bacteria shouldn't be resistant to it like it might be with Maracyn I/II and other more common antibacterial medication. With some good care and some good food, I am sure you'll have him healthy and happy in time.
I seriously only thought a couple of friends who already knew the story would check this out.
And I feel ya. I was in a pet store yesterday to get a better pH test kit and I almost rescued the 2 bettas there that were in bottles, basically, with the top off but no hiding places and I could already see a bit of the stress getting to their tails....ARRRGH. I never knew, until pooty tang that I could love a fish.
What are you even doing to cure his fin rot? The number one cause of fin rot is filthy water, caused by inadequate water changes. Unless you are changing 100% of the water every other day, no amount of medication you could dump in the water will cure his fin rot.
I rescued him when was like this, I did not do this _TO_ him.
I do partial changes every day, full water every 3 days. I have some kanaplex but am waiting to see if what I'm doing is enough.
He was living with another person who let the water go dark green and had nothing else in there for him to hide behind and thought that the green water was what he wanted to hide in!!!
my betta looks exactly like the first one

yeah, uh, I think I went over that in the info. I don't need to be a pro to see that. He was already sick when he became mine.

You should try the peroxide trick if it hasn't gotten better by now.

jesus lord that things like fish bone, what are you feeding it flacks?
nez3 4 years ago
I don't know what you mean by flacks...maybe you mean flax.
I feed him correctly with correct food that he gobbles down, and would continue to gobble until he exploded from constipation probably.
You're looking at his fins, or lack there-of.
It's not the food, it was his previous conditions that got him in that state. He's actually looking better in that video, if you can believe that.
