But you have to realize, these fences aren't there to hurt the animals, they are there to protect them. To stop them from escaping and to stop people from entering. This ant eater got shocked once (mildly at that as it was able to walk away with no ill effects) and it will probably never go near the fence again.No harm no foul, it learned not to do it again without being injured.

Honestly, not talking about you directly, but I believe a lot of other people would be more open minded to the ideas of animal rights activists if they would relax and just have a discussion instead of an argument. It really doesn't hurt. I have been accidentaly hit by electric fence many times and it's just a shock. The animals learn soon not to touch it so it's completely safe.
