You have posted a lot of great and interesting videos, but I can tell you from experience this trap will not work for a coon. Raccoon's are crafty little critters that will go as far as chewing their own foot off to escape from a trap...I've seen it and experienced it multiple times. Plus, I'm sure other people have mentioned this but a rope will not hold up against a coon!
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo NOT THE FESONTS!!!!!!!! KILL ALL RACOONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Few problems with this... First, when the raccoon comes up to the bait he will sniff it first then grab it with his paws, not bite into it with his mouth, raccoons like humans use there hands to put food in their mouths, with his paws out in front of his face... the noose would get him under the armpit opposed to around the neck, so the raccoon would either be able to pull his way out or because he used a rope instead of wire (problem number 2), it can chew through it.
my dirt is harder than cement. it is comparable to a rock in the desert. its even got those little friggin canyons that appear in dry dirt that go like 2 feet deep. the ones that you lose important stuff in
This is an awesome vid thank you my friend and i ate a good dinner because of your vid a while back ( we were stuck in the mountains and he had a broken ankle. That rabbit was good!) THANK YOU!!
i love making traps but i make sure to take them down cause i am not in a survival situation but just out of curiousity do you eat what you get in your traps? and when is a trapping season?
i have actually made one of these traps and the animal goes to the opposite side of the rope and still gets the food with tripping the trap and gets away.
i made this trap and i made it wrong and when the racoon came the rock crushed its head...... i got it on tape but i rather not show u how its head got smashed.... but atleast that racoon cant attack my dog again..
@TheXtremeHunter21 That is a bowline knot. It looks different because I wrapped the excess rope back around itself to get it out of the way. There are many tutorials for tying a bowline on youtube.
@cgspeeddemon1 I actually took it down after I built it for the video. I realized it would be pointless to trap coons after all my pheasants had been killed anyway. By the time I have more the coons would all be back again. I will need to trap them this winter in preparation for spring.
@austindv777 All of my traps can be scaled up. This one would work just fine, or the tree spring noose trap in one of my other videos. Just make them larger.
I need to set up this trap too, raccoons got to my African Grey one night not long ago and the only thing left in his cage was his head. I had hand raise him from a 5 week old baby and he was 11 when they ate him.
A raccoon killed the baby Robins under my deck. It was 12:30 AM and I hear the birds ran outside I saw the raccoon under the deck. By the time I got my gun it was too late.
@saluteshell5 I know it. I've been too busy. It's a shame too, I just sent in my PGI convention fee and I don't have anything to bring. I'm finally making some progress with the ball mill I started building over the winter. I hope to have it done before the convention.
There were animals i belived to be skunks or possum ive seen both outside in the early morning hours i made a upright noose trap yesterday. I woke up yesterday and to my suprise i had caught a skunk. And i promptly cut down the deceased skunk and disposed of him and reset.
i was wonder, do you know a good way to make a home made Bow or a "bush bow", i have tried to make one as a project with the kids but cant seem to pull it off....
@Codinia I have made several, but they have not been of a high enough quality for me to make a video on. They last a few days and then are about done for. I believe the trick to a good bush bow would be heat treating the wood so that it retains its spring and is slower to conform to the new bend.

@progamerxt It's not good either way. If you shoot someone, you have a good chance that it will be turned against you in court. If you don't kill the guy you will certainly get sued by him. If you do kill him, you better be sure you got him in the front or it will look like he was trying to flee, in which case you were no longer in any danger and you're in jail for the better part of your life.
The point of it really is, don't kill anyone unless they really are trying to kill you or another.
