  • lol right. A raccoon.

  • Well that was weird, I just watched the video "how to raise Pheasants" and then came to this one, to hear they all died!

  • Have u caught something yet

  • Can u make a video on how to reset the trap

  • Damm

  • i cout a rabbit in the sumer with that trap

  • raccoon killer

  • You have posted a lot of great and interesting videos, but I can tell you from experience this trap will not work for a coon. Raccoon's are crafty little critters that will go as far as chewing their own foot off to escape from a trap...I've seen it and experienced it multiple times. Plus, I'm sure other people have mentioned this but a rope will not hold up against a coon!

  • @MXkid287 The raccoon is going to be hung and die from this he will only be twitching.

  • Did you get the raccoon? :)

  • a bit nasty... (to the racoon) but cool XD

  • @TheMike7017 the raccoon just murdered all those amazing little pheasant... He deserves it xD

  • ur awesome

  • NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo NOT THE FESONTS!!!!!!!! KILL ALL RACOONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • youtube is getting gay as hell with all these ads

  • Few problems with this... First, when the raccoon comes up to the bait he will sniff it first then grab it with his paws, not bite into it with his mouth, raccoons like humans use there hands to put food in their mouths, with his paws out in front of his face... the noose would get him under the armpit opposed to around the neck, so the raccoon would either be able to pull his way out or because he used a rope instead of wire (problem number 2), it can chew through it.

  • my dirt is harder than cement. it is comparable to a rock in the desert. its even got those little friggin canyons that appear in dry dirt that go like 2 feet deep. the ones that you lose important stuff in

  • This is an awesome vid thank you my friend and i ate a good dinner because of your vid a while back ( we were stuck in the mountains and he had a broken ankle. That rabbit was good!) THANK YOU!!

  • what is good raccoon bait?

  • Could a rain drop set that off?

  • Best video I've seen for this type trap. Good work.

  • Nice

  • this was in bear grylles

  • what knot did he use to rap around the racoon?

  • did u kill a roccoon in the end?

  • SHOW US THE DEAD RACCOONS

  • is there a way to make this to kill skunks without having to worry about the neighborhood cats getting hurt?

  • hey watched most of your vids, but i mostly go hunting for rabits in Robinvale, victoria.

theirs just a heap of well bushes, and only a few trees arround here and their.

what would be the best trap to use for catching rabbits without a tree?

  • @liighthead Simple wire snare mate. it's the simplest trap to use anywhere for a rabbit.

  • @Thehunt147 It's quite simple.

  • @Nighthawkinlight will this work on squirrels

  • nice i have the same problem but it is my trash i need a cheep way to do this thanks

  • How much animals have you trapped with those kinds of traps

  • Ok thanks

  • I'm trying to catch a rabbit but it's in a field and there r no trees around and idk wat to do can u help?

  • @ddawg820 Look for one of its trails and set a simple wire snare attached to a stake.

  • @ddawg820 make a deep hole and cover it with a mesh of some sort.

  • did u catch it?

  • hello but do u have a fishing line in between the snare itself like in the other vids???thx

  • @942doc1 No...

  • @Nighthawkinlight i hope you do catch that racoon i was looking forward to seeing the pheasent videos

  • @Nighthawkinlight I caught a squirrel... suprisingly good meat!

  • How long dose the rope need to be

  • Will it work with rabbits too?

  • i did this and ALMOST caugt a possum getting in my trash when i seen it the next day i shot it with my 410

  • i did this and i almost caught a possum can u show a video of ur catches

  • i love making traps but i make sure to take them down cause i am not in a survival situation but just out of curiousity do you eat what you get in your traps? and when is a trapping season?

  • i have actually made one of these traps and the animal goes to the opposite side of the rope and still gets the food with tripping the trap and gets away.

  • line it up so that the rock hits the prey on it's way down -that'll teach him! happy hunting.

  • i made this trap and i made it wrong and when the racoon came the rock crushed its head...... i got it on tape but i rather not show u how its head got smashed.... but atleast that racoon cant attack my dog again..

  • Lol you think the raccoon are that stupid 2 go in ther :P

  • are your phaesants alive?

  • great vid, very well explained like some of your other vids are also

  • don't see how anyone wouldn't like a simple and effective trap like this! Thanx Nighthawk!

  • did you catch the raccoon?

  • thats going to give the raccoon a headaech

  • @nighthawkinlight have you caught the Racoon yet?

  • @TheXtremeHunter21 That is a bowline knot. It looks different because I wrapped the excess rope back around itself to get it out of the way. There are many tutorials for tying a bowline on youtube.

  • @Nighthawkinlight ok i know this isnt a reply to this comment but hopefully this one youll see.........did the coon trap work???

  • @cgspeeddemon1 I actually took it down after I built it for the video. I realized it would be pointless to trap coons after all my pheasants had been killed anyway. By the time I have more the coons would all be back again. I will need to trap them this winter in preparation for spring.

  • @TheXtremeHunter21 I'm not sure what you mean, the branch that the rock hangs from?

  • do you have a vid with a trap large enough for hogs? I love your videos. Thanks for putting them up.

  • @austindv777 All of my traps can be scaled up. This one would work just fine, or the tree spring noose trap in one of my other videos. Just make them larger.

  • Damn Racoons lol. Did you get him yet? If you have a picture can you send it to me via E-Mail?

  • I need to set up this trap too, raccoons got to my African Grey one night not long ago and the only thing left in his cage was his head. I had hand raise him from a 5 week old baby and he was 11 when they ate him.

  • @dagger53 That's too bad. Your bird had a lot more life left in him.

  • @dagger53 I'm sorry to hear that. I have a Grey myself and would be heartbroken if that happened to him.

  • A raccoon killed the baby Robins under my deck. It was 12:30 AM and I hear the birds ran outside I saw the raccoon under the deck. By the time I got my gun it was too late.

  • @displayfireworks1 raccoons aren't nearly as innocent as they seem. I have lost many rabbits/chickens to the little devils.

  • show the dead racoon! oh yea and strap him to a 24" shell

  • havent seen any firework vids latley night you should make a vid of a shell or somthing :)

  • @saluteshell5 I know it. I've been too busy. It's a shame too, I just sent in my PGI convention fee and I don't have anything to bring. I'm finally making some progress with the ball mill I started building over the winter. I hope to have it done before the convention.

  • There were animals i belived to be skunks or possum ive seen both outside in the early morning hours i made a upright noose trap yesterday. I woke up yesterday and to my suprise i had caught a skunk. And i promptly cut down the deceased skunk and disposed of him and reset.

  • fucking coons eat my bass in my pond im gonna try this one thanks for the video

  • i was wonder, do you know a good way to make a home made Bow or a "bush bow", i have tried to make one as a project with the kids but cant seem to pull it off....

  • @Codinia I have made several, but they have not been of a high enough quality for me to make a video on. They last a few days and then are about done for. I believe the trick to a good bush bow would be heat treating the wood so that it retains its spring and is slower to conform to the new bend.

There are several channels on YouTube I believe that are completely dedicated to bushcraft bows.

  • nice

  • hangin some coons.. lol

  • did the trap work?

  • Great trap

  • You better hope the police don't find out about this. I have a raccoon problem and they informed me that if I captured it I would be responsible for feeding and watering it, providing medical are if needed etc... An animal rights person could see this video and conclude that this trap is cruel and would leave the animal suspended in mid air for many hours etc...

  • @christo930 you need to learn the laws son...If its in your property causing damage you have every right to do capture it and get rid of it...Remember YOU own the property so there for he has the right to do it...

  • @progamerxt I am just saying what Animal control told me. I am sure it differs from state to state, but I would still be careful.

  • @christo930 oK WELL in my state if you fucking with my yard and i catch i have a LEGAL right to shoot you and take lethal force in anyway i want...because you now trespassing on private property...thats all im saying..but yes be careful...

  • @progamerxt I suggest you look at your state law a little closer. In most states, in order to shoot an illegal trespasser, not only must you be in imminent danger, but you can't have an escape route available. In other words, your back has to be against a wall AND you must be in a REAL (not just perceived) imminent danger.

  • @christo930 well i was told when i went a security class the instructor is a bounty hunter and works for the federal government...he told me that if you are doing it in a threatening manner that i have every right to...cause it is self defense...but i guess maybe i miss heard him...

  • @progamerxt It's not good either way. If you shoot someone, you have a good chance that it will be turned against you in court. If you don't kill the guy you will certainly get sued by him. If you do kill him, you better be sure you got him in the front or it will look like he was trying to flee, in which case you were no longer in any danger and you're in jail for the better part of your life.

The point of it really is, don't kill anyone unless they really are trying to kill you or another.

  • @progamerxt I know this is true for Texas, but other states in the Union are not as dedicated to old ways. For other countries, it generally follows the trend of third-world or first-world in how the law limits you. Developed nations don't like anyone killing anyone for any reason, whereas developing nations understand that the police aren't going to protect you; but they prefer you to dispose of the body yourself.

  • noooo they killed the pheasants!

  • haha the counter weight will crush it aswell and strangling it to death nice xD

  • @purenight77 you're pretty fucked up if you find that enjoyable.

  • @Trendyrapslut i was being sarcastic but its a nice trap

  • sorry to hear the bad news. are you going to raise them again? id like to see that. what i say is just get back on your feet and go for it again.

    -regards

  • I am really sad to hear about your pheasants NHL. Can't believe that racoon killed every one of them, thats just wrong. I hope you catch the little bugger. I live in a sort of suburb like town and even we sometimes have problems with those dam animals. Lost 2 rabbits and a chicken a few years ago, but now my siblings have two sheep for 4-H, so I doubt it will be a problem.

  • PETA sucks dick. buncha damn hippies. MEAT IS TASTY! KILL BABY CALFS FOR FOODDD!!!!

  • Wonder if this trap will work on human? LOL j/k

  • whats te point of the noose-slip knot, if I was you I wouldent have sticks holding the loop instead lay it flat.reason the animal can disturb the little sticks. otherwise good alternative to a tree spring

  • Let us know if you catch anything.

  • This will make a good PETA member trap.

  • Make sure you make a video tommarow if it works ill br looking forward to it also. I may make one to catch a few possums what are you using for bait.

  • @benchmadebob I use peanut butter as bait.

  • oh yea u shld make a flash powder landmine and put that in the sticks

  • u should make a grenade launcher and go racoon hunting

  • RIP Pheasants :(

    they're so cute

  • what do you think about when your doing this?

  • hope to see what the trap catches

  • get a video of u catching it

  • You should make a landmine...

  • @xBangergoosEx rofl

  • @xBangergoosEx good idea but dangerous for anyone walking through the woods. and it could get something harmless like a rabbit or fox.

  • See you in hell RACCON!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Nighthawkinlight! Do you own any guns?

  • @leijarobotti2000 I do. I do not make a habit of discussing the specifics in a public area however.

  • last year i had the same problem kiled 4 of 5 chickens i gave away the 5th so it would not get hurt

  • very nice!

  • Aren't raccoons protected?

  • @AllAtheism I can't imagine where. They are far from endangered in Michigan. The last time I trapped them to protect the birds I had at the time (chickens, ducks) I captured more than two dozen of them in my yard alone over the summer. They're everywhere.

  • @AllAtheism Who cares

  • Hope you show us if you catch it!

  • buy a gun

  • POOOORR PHEASANTS!!!!!! I would hunt the coon down and cook em for dinner :D

  • Poor Pheasants. Kill the Racoon.

  • hope PETA dont find out about this... they need to get a life as well

  • @LordSither1 Nothing 'People Eating Tasty Animals' can do. It's perfectly legal to kill raccoons for pest control. They can come and take a look at the 40 shredded pheasant corpses left from when one got in my coup. 40 birds > 1 raccoon.

  • @Nighthawkinlight i dont think PETA focus on how animals treat other animals but more on how people treat animals. 'People Eating Tasty Animals' is a funny j/k but "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" may throw a hissy fit on the killing aspect of the trap regardless of what the animal is doing/done.

either way im curious to see the trap in action. i got a pest problem of my own. feral cats running a muck in my neighborhood.

  • @ssbark I understand that. I would dismiss their complaint as ignorant. Being hung beats a natural death via starvation or disease any day in my opinion. They don't get a soft bed and pain medication.

I will not be posting a follow up video of the animals captured however. Though I believe the trapping is justified, I do not enjoy killing. If I were going to teach how to process wild game I may show the animals for educational purposes, but I will not show dead animals for entertainment only.

  • @Nighthawkinlight

no worries. wanted to really see how far the raccoon got in the trap before it sprung. seeing if it did loop around its neck or under one/both of its front legs. i probably could figure out where it would loop around giving the amount of space from bait to noose. wanted to see for education not entertainment.

  • @Nighthawkinlight much respect to that comment.

  • @ssbark

No one sane gives damn about bunch of hippies,if they traspass you shoot,as simple as that!

  • Awesome.

  • wit the trigger instead of placing the bait on it yu should cut a small deep noth into it and wedge a peice of jerky onto it that way the raccoon has to pull on the bait not just gently brush it off. also wit this method he is more likely to get his head in the trap because he will use his mouthe to aid him. and most importantly THE POOR PHEASANTS!!!!!!!!!!! they were so cute! and it was for such a great cause are you going to raise more?

  • @panzuman That is not necessary. I use peanut butter or bird suet as bait, it requires no notch to make the raccoon need to work to get it off.

I was very unhappy to find the pheasants had been killed. I plan on raising more, but I cannot order them until next spring. A friend of mine that also owns pheasants just had a raccoon break in and kill the majority of his birds last night. They're brutal. 30+ birds killed and left where they lay, most killed without being eaten at all.

  • @Nighthawkinlight ahh peanut butter very nice choice i wil try the same for my chickens

  • You should post a video later to let us know how it works out.

  • Great trap! Good luck on catching those raccoons!

  • Cool beans!
