yo im !7 years old and working toward getting my license. and i cant wait, because the old VW bug is the only car im looking forward to driving. i already have one to. yours is nicer though. mine is not that old school. mine is 1974 super beetle, white. i cant wait to drive it. anyway good luck with yours!!!!!!! ;)
I wanna buy a bug that looks like that from the outside all old school but does anybody know which one is the one with a radio with the same exterior style?
That car brings back memories of my first car. I'm 28 btw. My first car was a '77 bug convertible. I absolutely LOVED that car. I got it as a 16th b-day present. Everyone in my school always bummed rides off me because I guess my car was the "cool" car. I no longer have the car anymore as I had to sell it. But, now I have a Red New Beetle convertible and it's a pretty cool little car. Cost me a fortune but it still gets me to where I wanna go.
The aftermarket race transmissions have 5 speeds, but I believe all manual transmission equipped beetles from the factory had 4, and in the case of the early ones, 3
Nice job gentlemen. Watching this video makes me want to put my '65 together again. I started restoring it a couple of years ago but got sidetracked. Thanks for keeping the spirit of these cars alive. Enjoy.
I'm 22 and I've always wanted a Beetle. I'm on the hunt for a new car and happen to run across a custom '70 Beetle with 1641 cc engine. I'm planning on doing a test drive this week. If I were to get it it, it would be my main source of transportation. Do you have any opinions on this? I'm reluctant with it being my only source of transportation, but I really don't want a new, plastic car. I rarely driver further than a 30 mile radius and all my driving is mostly highway, with some interstate.
I cant do the interstate with mine, but if you got one with the 1600 you should be able to. If its in good shape, and you are somewhat mechanically inclined I think it would be a good daily driver.
From the ad, the car seems to be in pretty good shape but I haven't seen it yet. It's a newly installed engine and tranny, new carb, new brakes, new interior, new tires and wheels and even remote entry. It should be interesting to check out.
Beautiful little beetle you have, by the way. I'll let you know how things turn out with it if I purchase it. Thanks for the input.
Its pretty good if youre only planning on going 50-55mph. It will go faster, but I dont like to to that. Ive been on several 3 to 4 hour trips with it, and to the beach (5hours round trip) on it. Very very comfortable.
Real nice car. But it is a tad small haha. Oh well. We car pool for lunch and I got stuck with two other guys in a single cab ford ranger. Whats even worse is I was the smallest at 178lbs.
Well, actually its alot bigger than it seems inside. It is narrow, but not having an engine up front gives it great legroom, im 6'2 and im stretched out in it, plus the bubble roof gives plenty of headroom
My stock '66 with the original 1300cc motor has been up to 75. That's as fast as I'm willing to push it. :)

I do over 80 in my 62'. I dont know if it is the original transmission but it does well for me as a daily driver.

Ahhhhhh.... Nothing like an old Beetle. Fun for road trips. My friend has a 1963 Beetle with a radio & the peel-back sun roof. Nice car!
