  • An updated version, and to my mind better, appears on Gerry"s "Another World " album.

  • kickin up the stones

  • Man, really wish I was born in a different time period. I don't get along with any of the kids at my school because I don't like the same shit as them. Hell, I'm into old, rather good stuff. Quantum Leap, Beatles, Stealer's Wheel...etc etc. Holy wood can ruin cartoons, but they can't fuck with the classics.

  • ph enomanall lyrics ,,,spelt wrong,,,,great song ,,,

  • @lambertroberts you are correct. after each album Gerry quit and Joe had to carry on alone until Gerry could be talked back into rejoining. Listen to words to most of their songs and you will hear their story. I loved Gerry and still do but maybe if he had pulled his head out of his ass this band would have be huge. So, thanks Joe for all you do.

  • Rod Stewart did a fantastic cover of this song in the mid 70s.

  • I was wondered why this wasn't a hit. I still have the original single.

  • beatfull music... forever in my heart

  • Such a beautiful song! It really fills you up with emotion

  • Although it has Gerry written all over it, I think that - as is the case for Stuck in the Middle with You - it is actually Joe Egan undertaking the main vocal duties. (PS this song arrangement doesn't really need the strings and trombone.)

Please listen to Gerry's "My Singing Bird" on YouTube. It is brilliant.

    Aussies for Gerry!!!

  • @corsica290 I own another version without brass section.

  • @TheRunner75 Can you post the alternate version? I think it must be the one that appeared on the original vinyl album. The strings and brass on the CD version rather spoil a great song, I think.

  • @corsica290 It is indeed Joe Egan doing the majority of the vocal on this track, Gerry only joins in on the chorus and the odd line, but I assure you that on Stuck In The Middle With You, it is Gerry singing the lead. Click on my name and watch the video of the song. Many people think Joe sings the lead, because he mimed to Gerrys vocal in the official video for the song, which was recorded after Gerry left the band for 3 months before returning. 100% Gerry on SITMWY.

  • @AlanRafferty you are correct. Gerry quit the band so Joe had to do the video. In fact Gerry quit after each album was complete. I think if Gerry had pulled his head out of his ass this band would of been huge. I love Gerry but thanks to Joe for all he did. Carry on brother

  • gerry was up there wi the best of them,no silly antics from the man no gimmicks just wonderful music, ged bless rip.

  • Another excellent track,slainte,Murray.

  • thanks for posting this wonderful music. For those who like SW, check out GR's "Can I Have My Money Back" LP......great stuff.....

  • @emwolbemwolb Thanks. I own this song on CD.

  • Favourite Stealers Wheel song.

  • Joe Egan never had a "Baker Street" but he and Rafferty were the Lennon-McCartney of Stealers Wheel.

  • R.I.P., Gerry Rafferty. And thank you for the music.

  • You know, I like every version of this song, Ted Neeley's, Roger Daltreys... when you can like every version of it, it just shows how good a song is, when it can hold up on its own no matter how it's done

  • "i'll put something better inside you .....get over here girl"

  • One of my favorites from the day's when life was innocent...

Sitting by the creek with my 8 track player...

  • @THEREALlittlejo life was never innocent

  • My favourite ever Stealers Wheel track, remember the knife and fork A+M cover on the single too.

Thanks for the upload, made me nostalgic so uploaded a lesser known track from the album myself, wish I could get my photos as clear as yours though, but it's the trying that counts. 5stars.

  • Quality...a great Joe Egan song the also ran of ths duo,,,but he was just as good....

    Jim

  • Great song. One of my favourite ballads of all time. I absolutely love Stealers Wheel. This is a great post i enjoyed looking at all the various sleeves and covers. The cover that comes up at 2:17 was the first SW album i ever bought and it does'nt even contain this song, very strange. I have since aquired the 3 albums the band did on CD they are all quality. Thanks TheRunner75.
