It's really sorry the guitar playing is far from being perfect, you can hear it blatantly at 3:35 for instance,obviously the guitarist hasn't been in a great shape

I disagree. Ians voice was fine right up until 1984 when he damaged it during the Under Wraps tour. I've seen some of their 2008concert footage and Ian sounds absolutely dreadful. It's so sad to see him ending his career in such a sad and painful looking manner.
peter, I saw the 2008 tour in Providence,RI. Ian strains to hit the notes so painfully that he actuall throws the timing of the band off. I love all things Tull, but it really is sad. I must agree with you. BTW, that was my 56th Tull concert and the history and memories of this wonderful band will never fade.
He overused his vocal cords :/ He had some absolutely awesome, but tiring singing in the Under Wraps album. And also, he had a throat surgery back then, which wasn't too helpful for his voice either.
John Glascock was Steve Harris' biggest influence and you can really hear it if you listen for it. Steve was a huge Tull fan hence their cover of Cross-eyed Mary.
What on earth, or in Jethro Tull, does being able to play fast have to do with anything? I can name one player who's forte is in part speed who is of great value, and that is John McLaughlin. Dave Pegg was a great and long standing Tull member, and a exquisite player, a given if you are employed by Tull. I can name a bunch of other fast players such as Eddie VH, Al Dimeola, etc. As the great Lester Young once said to a young cat trying to impress with speed, "But can you sing me a song boy?"
So it seems. Have you seen the trailer? But I still don't know if this is an official release. The official Tull site says nothing. (or maybe I just don't know where to look :P )
did anyone got the chords for the fast middlepart?i got only the chords for the verses and the chorus....the others are impossible to find in the internet
he doesn't really sing that well here? the version from the "A" tour two years earlier sounds better to me(aaaand, that one has a violin), he sings a bit through his nose here. sort of. well, well
this is true art ladies and gentlemen.

this is one of the tightest knit songs for the band musically...everyone is in sync with everyone...all the instruments thrive off each other

sadly enough, Ian was a chain smoker for years, that will come back to haunt your voice. His lungs however do not seem to be as effected.

This is where Ian's voice started to falter -- such a pity. He sang so well.

What happened in 1984? How did he damage it?

Aw, that's too bad.
Thanks for your reply, I was curious. :)

@peterpindar
He started sounding raspy/nasally during the 1982 tour. Under Wraps aggravated it.

the bass on this version is a little watered down for a human bassist to play; john glascock played as fast as steve harris
