how bout rice & beans i have a few lbs of that stuff and someone the other day told me that the rice grows some kind a bug after awhile i still have them in the original bags in a box & ever since he told me that stuff ive been worried. thanks for the info i will start a rotation i kinda just bought the stuff and put it away stay safe & God bless
@TexasBeaner214 there is always people out there who will poo poo on your party, don't fret. Put a handful of the rice into a cup of hot water, after a few minutes if bugs don't float to the top it's fine. After you're satisfied it doesn't have bugs put it in bags plastic or Mylar &vacuum seal or use o2 absorbers. put in a light&rodent proof container, you can put several bags in the container if you want smaller portions. Make sure your bags will hold an air tight seal. Then date and rotate:)
Great video. Prepping makes sense and should never be frowned upon. everyone should have a food pantry. And as you use one item put it on a list. When it goes on sale replace that item and pui it in the back of that items self space.
Enjoy your videos. subbed today. thanks for taking the time to educate.
What IMHO people need to understand is that it far more of a burden to not have that confidence that they have something to fall back on if and when they need then it is to have it and not need it.
I understand what your saying about your house never being the same but I will have to respectfully disagree with prepping being a burden. I guess I look at prepping in this light, is breathing a burden? Is waking up in the morning a burden? To some it is I suppose but if you live your life and prep at the same time then it really isn't a burden to know that you have done your best to put something away for hard times:)
@minbound By burden I ment a lot of hard work or a heavy load to haul, nothing bad, that's why I related it to having kids, it's not something that will happen over night without some hard work (well not so hard but easy either). Sorry for the misunderstanding! I'll try to explain myself better next time. I'm not a negative person so if something comes out negative then it was a mistake in my communication.
@armywifeprepper No, I understood what you were saying, what I was saying is to some people breathing or getting out of bed in the morning is a burden so how could they possibly be expected to prep things too? In other words there's a lot of people see prepping as to much work so why do it when FEMA will save them, right? Just me being a smart ass.
@minbound Ohhhhh LOL, and here I am the queen of sarcasm and I didn't see it coming. I'm a goofball! :) I made a DailyMotion account and a Zippcast account with my same name FYI.
How true your statement is on your house never being the same again. It seems like i am always saying... "i need more shelves" lol Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@jeanineadele my apron was made for my by my awesome Mother-in-Law, she created the pattern based on a phone conversation where I told her what I liked about some aprons and didn't like about them and she came up with a pattern that was perfect! It's a little big but the next one she'll probably make smaller and it will tie correctly in the back. but I love it! Thanks for asking.
@SMprepnNancy that depends should I count the foster kids I had or just the ones with my genes? We have 2 kids and we have had several foster children. We don't do foster care anymore. We have a son with autism and he is 6' tall and his tantrums are pretty violent at times so we have to keep the collateral damage to a minimum and he needs our undivided attention when he's home.
I do agree with you that it can be a burden but it is a burden that will pay you back. Not having to run to the store every other day is worth it. Not being cought up in the crowds of people at the store when a snow storm is on it's way is worth it. Knowing that you have water, food, lighting, heat source, a working plan to make it thru what life throws at you is worth it. IMHO. (In My Humble Opinion) Great video
@Allen2045 Agreed! Thank you! That was the message I was trying to put out... prepping is a lot of work and it doesn't happen over night but it is so rewarding. I guess that's why I related it to having kids.
When you said your house will never be the same tears started to flow. It's good to know I'm not alone. My house is never as tidy as I would like. In the summer and fall, there are canning supplies and produce everywhere. Somtimes it becomes so cluttered, I feel like I will lose my mind. Right now, theres a case of freeze dried meat on the ottoman in the living room ready to be dated and put away and in the kitchen, 2 flats of food I'm trying to find a place for, etc. Thanks for this video.
@katzcradul Sorry I took so long to respond, hubby was home for a day and a half and I got really backed up! I'm glad I touched someone, I was trying to tell people that it is going to be a lot of work & it won't happen over night but it is so rewarding. That's why I related it to having kids. I think the word burden got some folks hung up, a burden isn't always a bad thing it's just not an easy thing. I have cases of water bottles stacked 5' high at the front door while I shuffle stuff around!

When I say burden I say it in the definition of being a heavy load to haul or a lot of hard work, not something bad.
