Wow, its good to see that Andrew Ridgeley Didn't go into forgetfulness, Because when he was with George Michael in Wham, he was just like a passenger in that duo, he had talent, no doubt about it, But George Michael was too much talent. Nevertheless, its good to see Andrew Ridgeley back. Nice song, catchy Tune, now lets try something slow like Careless Whispers.
Poor Andrew. He had no chance with the insane level of Talent George has. But I think it's cool that George did backups to support his childhood friend. ;o)
catchy tune, not bad at all in fact it was a pleasant surprise as I had heard nothing but negative reviews for, I guess, this album. Came here out of curiosty about what Ridgely did.
good song cool ass video just needs a little bit more energy and agressiveness in the singing if he did that this would be a legendary metal song next to all she wrote girls girls girls and cherry pie
The first seventeen seconds of this song sound just like the intro to 'Bad Medicine'. Take a listen to the intro to 'Red Dress' and at the 17 sec mark you'll feel like singing "Your love is like Bad Medicine!"
When Rolling Stone magazine reviewed this CD they gave it one star!! They didn't like the 'Faith' cloned image or his reedy sounding voice. In fact the only track they liked was "Shake (hardcore)"- the extra version on the CD album-and it was INSTRUMENTAL!!!! Ouch!! I'm not hating, just didn't work. George had the 'it' factor.
Shame that he couldn't figure out what he wanted from this song - obviously not just any monkey can stay in Wham for as long as he did. Still; great to watch after 10 beers!
Hes aged quite badly.. Not in a mean way.. But surely he would have a bit of dignity.. He was my fave in Wham.. And no doubt, better looking. He dont look too great now :/
I think if Andrew hadn't been in Wham with GM and he came out with this song first, it would have done a lot better. It fits in with the hard rock sound of the time. I certainly heard worse. I think that people were just disappointed it wasn't more Wham.
I don't like it, but I don't think it's bad for what it is. It just isn't my thing. This is a lot better than that "Shake" song. Now that was terrible.
the biggest problem is his ill-defined image and sound in this vid. was he going for a rock/country image? i dont think it works in this video (the haircut, no shirt, etc.). i think soft AOR love songs wouldve been far more lucrative for him. song isnt bad at all, though.

OK are you people blind or Gay? this man cannot sing at all.. not even pop. he DIDNt sing on ANY wham album and ONCE AGAIN there is a guitar strapped to him and he isnt PLAYING a damn thing!!! WAKE UP..the man was a fake.
Loved Andrew as a kid, but this is a strange song. You can hardly hear the vocals. Maybe if he had found a better song he might have had more of a career after Wham. George should have written him something decent.
I do as well, Wham was just one of those formula's that worked. Georges creativity with Andrew's confidence combined with Shirlie and Pepsi, vocals and Deon Estuses great bass playing.
I have yet to see a combination like that in modern music !
Wow!! Cool video.. When his album Son of Albert came out I met him in The Netherlands at March 21, 1990. Great memories!! I have photos from it in my own created video 'My love for Georgios..'
When all this was first out I thought he was great, I was a huge Wham Fan. It does not hold up with the test of time. Now I understand why Andrew never made it on his own. He was great with GM but not alone.
Well, I like this better than "Shake." But that's not saying much. Andy just should have enjoyed what he got out of Wham! and been done with it. Andrew's stuff is so, so inferior to George's work. Not just "different" as some are saying, but completely inferior. I know without Andy there wouldn't have been Wham! but there's not doubt George was the true creative genius behind it. Honestly, George must have been cringing when Andy came out with this dreck.
I saw this video on TV only once, then went out and bought the CD single. I always play it. How I wish this were the first single off the album instead of "Shake".

I don't know about that, I recently heard that the Commadores are trying to have a reunion, I read Loinel Richie's interview on it.
It seems like people interest in stuff re ignites after 20 years or so. Look at all the 80s stuff out. Transformers, Miami Vice, Talk of an A Team movie, other 80s bands are reuniting, why not Wham ?
I'm not saying No, I'm just saying I don't think George and Andrew will do it. Have you seen George Michaels A Different Story, I believe it's called. George and Andrew said there would be no reunion
the man was very talented, and he even played guitar and I am sure he co sang on many of the Wham! tracks, he is getting a negative rap just like Tito and I know for a fact that Tito is very talented. if you are the stand out in the band you get all the attention while all the other hard workers get Zilch...
I don't think they even listened to it. Andrew had a bad rap of the press pre judging him. I think a lot of his critics didn't even listen to his ablum, or made up their minds about it before they did.
In Georges words "He was sick and tired of being taged as that lucky guy who was Georges best freind" Remember, this is the same press that today is obsessed with Britney and other talentless rejects !
I honestly have never heard Andrew's album, so I can't comment on it. But I do think a lot of people made up their minds somewhere along the way that George was the brains behind Wham, and that Andrew was, at best, a "back up musician".
I haven't read Rolling Stone much lately, but I don't think they're "obsessed with Britney". Moot point, because I stopped subscribing to it a number of years ago because even for me it had become a crummy publication.
Maybe not Rolling Stone but I can't go to the store, turn on the news, get online, or anything else without hearing about her in some way.
In fact one stupid Tv show said she may be the most important cultural icon in America. That made me sick !
She realy has no musical talent at all and the mainstream press follows her every move. They act like her life is more important then the losses in Iraq, the rising oil and food prices, possible recession everything !
A lot of artists are either judged in comparison to their past and/or by people's expectations of who they are. As you said, Ridgeley was often looked at as being less than a caddy or chauffeur. They guy in Wham who did nothing. An analogy, Prince put out a seemingly crude album to finish his Warner Bros. contract, Chaos and Disorder, but because his past works were so good and highly praised, C&D was panned. But if, say, a newcomer made it, it'd probably be praised as a great rock album.
Huh, I thought Chaos And Disorder was one of his better records. He gets off some good guitar solos on that one. I think the reason it got panned was because everyone knew it was just a "contractual obligation", and probably didn't even bother listening to it.
I do as well. There's something loose about it, it's not self-conscious for the most part and for a set of songs with some tracks that had been sitting around, it's great stuff. It's a fun, concise and listenable album. Some people have criticized its "crude-looking" cover, saying that reflects that this album was just as crude, hastily thrown together. These critics are holding this album up against what are long reported to be his best. People need to just loosen up and press play. :)
I think it may have gotten a 1 and a 1/2 star, but, they really did criticize it. I still remember how they basically said that Ridgeley was a fake rocker, that he had all the moves, the sneer, the look down, but it was rather hollow. They said that only on Shake did he get things at least half right.
When did the video originally air ? I kept up with George but lost track of Andrew when they split. I didn't even know Andrew did any songs after the split...
This came out in 1990 shortly before Listen without Prejiduce was out. I found an interview of Andrew at the release of this album. He is asked about George and makes a reference to him "Being in the recording studio"
I can send you the interview and the other solo Shake if you wish !
supermeobliterator you say that this album came out in 1990. That's very interesting as I didn't notice George's voice in this song. Still it's got a good beat though.

Yeah I have the album at home. G Michael it says is on backup. Andrew also gives credit to George at the end of the album for "
Never doubting him"
I remember when I first heard this song on "Rock over London" they said George was on backup.
I think he's the voice thatc says "She exites me, she invites me" it sounds like him to me in that part.
