I really wish I could do something as simple as shaving off my hair to get rid of my trich, but I can't as I pull out only my eyelashes :/ It's horrible, because the only way of hiding it is by wearing really dark eyeliner all the time (which is a pain to put on in the morning and take off at night) but even then people still notice :/ The worst part for me though, is when I went into school once and one of my best friends told me I looked scary :/ I try to make sure I wear eyeliner every day :/
i suffered from this this decease, fortunately i was cured within the last 2 years, i started when i was 10, im 16 now and im almost fully cured, i know how hard it is to get cured, but it is possible, people dont leave this to your self control, i found that the only way out was to shave my head for about year and a half, this slowly decreased my urge to pull my hair
I have trich. It has changed over the many years, but it's still there--pulling out head hair that feels "different," pulling out facial hair which feels coarse, pulling out eyelashes and eyebrows, pubic hair, etc. and tearing my nails, picking scabs, and other kinds of compulsions and self-injurious behaviour. I think I started this when I was about 5 or 6, and I am now 51. It's a constant battle.
Hi I'm a guy I have had trich since I was in the 4th grade I'm now 28. I pull my hair and eyebrows. When I was in school kids would ask if i had cancer it hurt a lot. I wish more people could under stand that it is so hard to stop. It's not just that easy to just stop. As much as I won't to I just can't. I have tried different pills, they have not work very good for me.
@1998gmc I USED to pull out my eyelashes. I found that it really helps to keep your hands busy. Like drawing, playing with a necklace, or even biting your nails. All of those helped me overcome it within three months! Just be strong. <3
I am 55 this month and have been doing this since I was 13. I still have what looks like a full head of hair, but that is only because I wear bandages on my fingers so I can't feel the hair to pull it. Here's my question. How many times can you pull it out before it stops growing back??
Hey guys, I was looking for a support group on facebook - the problem is (obviously) they all have names or contain words I do not exactly want on my facebook profile. I am sure others have the same problem. So I started a new group with an innocent name: Trixie Tips. If you like the idea please feel welcome to join (just search for the group on facebook).
It's comforting to know I'm not the only one out there who does this. I mainly pull my eyelashes out, sometimes my eyebrows and it's driving me insane! I'm trying to stop right now but it is so hard to do. Very stressful
@enlightenedwarrior16 I USED to do the exact same. I bite my nails and play with necklaces. It helped me. I hope it helps you, and anyone else who suffers from this. <3
I've been pulling since I was 5 years old, along with the nail biting. I still do it till this day and for the longest time I never understood it, which further fustrated me!
I have had trich since I was 10 and I recently found out about this. Trich scares me a lot. Thinking about how I could end up with a wig and all those other things.
When I was 12, I always felt so unhappy because I thought I was the only one that pulled out my hair. I felt so weird and stupid.
When I learned the facts, instead of being sad, I was a bit scared.
But, I was happy to know that I wasn't some hair pulling freak.
I wish you would put in pictures with missing eyelashes and eyebrows...Trichotillomania is not just about hair missing in scalp but in all body parts.
I'm sorry I did not include many pictures of missing eyelashes/eyebrows. I realize that trich extends to all body parts, but because I only pull from my scalp, this video is more of a reflection of what I myself feel. I believe one could easily get an idea of the emotional pain experienced by ALL types of trichsters by watching this video, and I apologize if I have offended anyone. You may create a more specific video about pulling from brows/lashes, expressing yourself as well if you wish :)
i'm a male with trich, made 2 videos, feel free to watch...
