  • That was about the size of the floundzilla when it took down the villa in Moses creek!

  • The funny thing is that he says "YOU are gonna need a bigger boat", not "we". He totally takes himself out of that shit, or at least that's what he'd wanna do.

  • these top comments are always so hilarious..xD

  • i love the music at 1:10 to 1:18 the best

  • Absolutely the coolest scene in the whole movie!!!!

  • @youliveyoudie oh shit hahahaha XD 'were talkin canoe size'

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • it would be funny if a small shark swam up and brody said "you're gonna need a smaller boat"

  • I'm guessing I've seen this movie at least 50 times since the first time I saw it in the theater. I still have not watched the part when Quint gets eaten. =:-o

  • My favorite movie quote of all time!

  • but look over there its bigger jaws! 30 footer

  • I love how Quint just sizes the shark up like a boss and doesn't even look nervous.

  • And from the begining to 0:54, Hooper notices nothing. Shark expert. Right.

  • @flamingcartman312 How would he notice? Hes a shark expert not a psychic.

  • ROY SCHIEIDER ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTORS OF ALL TIME

  • im building a orca model 35'' check it out first video is up

  • This scene made me jump when the shark came out, It scared the shit out of me.

  • Even 35 years later, I can still smell the crap in his pants when the shark ascends...or mine...

  • EPIC.

  • "You're gonna need a bigger boat."

Did you know he improvised that line? It wasn't in the script :D

  • @PassTheMarmalade1957 Much like how the scene with their scars. They were actually drunk.

  • @PassTheMarmalade1957 - A lot of his improvised lines were fantastic IMO and are quoted all the time!

  • @PassTheMarmalade1957 Really! That's very cool. I never knew that. Thanks!

  • Damm it, I want to see this in a Cinema.

  • What if they poisoned the chum?

  • @TheDevilBoi171 Might've actually worked, but then the movie would've ended too early and wouldn't have been any fun...

  • 25....3 tons of em'

  • First time I saw this I jumped so bad my chair fell backwards. And this still freaks me out!

  • I woulda been like, "Okay, we saw it... Now turn this mutha fucker AROUND!"

  • @ItalianTony86 LOLOL JUST THE LOOK ON HIS FACE....

  • Comment removed

  • You guys saw how brody was feeding dead fish to the shark? Well how about they inject the poison into one of those dead fish and give it to the shark to kill it...would have saved them alot of touble LOL

  • @TheVenturino123 Yeah, but then the ending wouldn't have been nearly as awesome!

  • @TheVenturino123 the poisin would have come off in the water

  • @CloakedRhombus doubt it, than give it regular dead fish first and than when the shark rises up throw the poisoned one in its mouth.

  • This is a classic movie.Jaws 2,3 and the revenge are embarrassment's to the franchise.

  • @nb45001 Jaws 2 (while certainly no masterpiece) wasn't really that bad. It's 3 and on when the franchise really died.

  • jaws ,best film ever

  • my line would've been exit stage left let's get the hell outta here now!

  • Four perfect actors.

  • my mom's favorite scene lmfao!

  • I've always wondered about the way the dorsal? fin making such a wave going thru the water. would that be right? I would have thought it wouldn't make such a disturbance?

  • love it! scaryyyy

  • … to recreate the isolation with no back up, but also to kill this shark, one of the things that tormented him so much, like Nicky (Christopher Walken) in ‘The Deer Hunter’, who after experiencing the torment of being forced to play Russian Roulette by Vet Cong captors, that even after the war was behind him, continued to play Russian Roulette and have people place bets on him. Psychologically damaged like Quint in Jaws, both characters meet their ends as a result of their experiences.

  • The experience must have damaged Quint psychologically, such that it caused him to repeat the experience by becoming a shark hunter, going out to sea in a wooden boat just big enough and no more to hunt the biggest sharks he can find, with nothing more than simple fishing equipment. The urge to repeat the experience of being isolated and stranded in shark infested waters could have caused him to smash up the Orca’s radio when Brodie tried to call for help,

  • @flbk8597 also maybe because he didnt want the other fisher men to coem help and take HIS catch and didnt want any help so he did not attract any attention

  • @TheNinjacat10

It is possible because to prevent other fishermen stealing his catch; after all he did say to Hooper 'Cage is in the water, you go in the water - shark's in the water... OUR shark.'

But it begs to question, why did Quint not just order Brodie to belay the radio call, take the radio off him and tell him to get his ass back on deck? (The Orca was his vessel, and he is the Captain) Why smash it up into pieces like a mad man?

  • @TheNinjacat10

Quint smashing up the radio with a bat seemed nuts, it cut them all off from any kind of help and he must have known this. It was possible Quint's motive was far more disturbing than just money. By destroying the radio cut them off from any help, thereby rerunning his experience of being cut off from help when the adrift in shark infested waters) appears that particular hunting trip became more than just about money, but a hell bent mission to face up to this shark.

  • @flbk8597

    Shades of Moby Dick, no?

  • What a scary scene, remember the first time seeing this, shark came out of nowhere. Looking back at this scene I realise provides insight to Quint’s character, the sharks approaches the Orca must have been reminiscent to Quint of the USS Indianapolis shark attacks, I thought the shark in this scene represented both the Japanese sub that sank the Indianapolis and the sharks that picked off the surviving crew as they prayed for a rescue.

  • One of the best improv's in film history!

  • It's surprising that you don't actually see the shark until this scene!

  • @OldSkoolgamerz, There's a reason for that. They say that they were having trouble getting the mechanical shark to work properly. Consequently, they couldn't introduce the shark until later than they had originally planned. They said, however, that it worked out to their benefit because it added to the mystery and suspense.

  • Actually, you can see a little of the shark in the estuary scene, when he eats the man on the boat

  • @RafaGeass Oh yeah, forgot about that. But we never knew how large it actually was until this part.

  • I remember the 1st time the shark came up as a lil Kid I JUMPED SO FUCKIN HIGH XD haha and then I remember my brother when we were like 4 was terrified to go in the Bath after seein this movie XD

  • first time i waterskiied I was thinking of this scene. i was nervous putting on the skiis in a lake. kept thinking a shark was about to get me!

  • 2 people came down and chumped some of that shit

  • it just doesnt make any sense...why would any shark be so obvious to us?

  • @samcollends

Sharks tend to come to the surface when they smell food, I've seen a video of an actual great white do the exact thing that the shark did in this video on YT.

  • @rocky01542 oh...well anyways thanks for the saying :)

  • thumbs up if you got scared when the shark came

  • @Ethanthenathe only the 1st time i saw it. killer movie, huh!?

  • scary moment when they see an estate agent on the horizon... and a politician gliding under the boat! OUCH!

  • find the n mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm thumbs up if you found it!

  • His face when he sees the shark!

  • 0:14 - 0:24 How did Hooper (the guy in the background) not hear that shark come out of the water like that? lol

  • Holy crap they must have a whole orchestra on that boat!!!

  • Jaws is good because we don't see the shark? And my ass it is chicken?

  • @T0mR0b1n This is like beyond halfway through the movie, and the first time you get a good look at it, the point is, Jaws is good, because they delay showing the shark, builds up tension, as all you know is the music and the unknown and fear of the unknown is greater than any other fear, and yea the shark looks fake here, but still scares the shit outta you, as its the first time you see it, well apart from the time it eats the guy in the rowing boat but you only saw its mouth which was scary

  • @ZZZMuthaFlippinZZZ Your sport on mate! Also i think it was only a quick glimpse when the shark was eating the man in the pond. But I think its really important and effective because this is the first time the shark is seen by Brody

  • @glefpellard

    (spot on)

  • 0:35 Quint in head "How big can it be?"

    0:59 "HOLY SHIIT!"

  • Slow ahead.. I can go slow ahead... Come on down here and chum some of this shit... Greatness...

  • Roy Scheider stars as police chief Martin Brody, Richard Dreyfuss as marine biologist Matt Hooper, Robert Shaw as shark hunter Quint

  • Just wondering why they didn't just pop a cap in his ass right there?

  • @label1877 What would it have done?

  • Does anyone else notice when Brody throws the meat it hits the shark on the head and rolls off? lol

  • Every time I go see a movie I see about 3 seconds of this scene in the preview thing.

  • I think that Bruce for Jaws accidentally wound up looking like a Megalodon instead of a modern great white, but in that way it works. The shark was a pain in the ass to animate, but when it work they really shot some excellent scenes.

  • It'd be cooler if they had a bigger budget and made Jaws like a fucking 50ft monster.

  • @yoshiguy123 no it woudnt

  • @Caesarslegion1 Yes it would. Goat.

  • What do you guys think of a CGI edition to Jaws like what Geoge Lucas did to the original Starwars as the shark looks very fake by todays standards or would this be sacriledge!

  • @1bighug shark looks fake? are you serious? this movie is 36 yrs old and the shark looks more realistic than anything i've seen after this movie.

  • @ProGamer6690

I totally agree. They DEFINITELY don't make movies like this anymore.

  • @1bighug who cares about today's standards? this is almost 37 years old. it doesn't even look that bad, especially for its time.

  • @TheJawsFan24

I actually think the shark looks pretty damn good for the films age, not to mention this was way before anyone really started studying sharks, esp the Great White... Spielberg did a good job in trying to make the shark's portrayal an action's as realistic as possible.

Compare this film to any shark film of recent time's an this film is still unsurpassed, i doubt they'll ever make a better shark film then this.

  • @XxComablackxX1937 totally agree man, hate it when people say they don't like jaws b/c the shark looks fake. especially because its not even shown on screen a whole lot so its not really a big deal.

and yes, no shark movie will ever be as good as this one.

  • You're gonna need a bigger boat.

  • 1 person didn't get a bigger boat

  • @TheJawsFan24 now another one didn't get a boat

  • @TheJawsFan24 Make that 2 people!

  • @wolverineik 1 more and we'll have the Orca crew.

  • Great delivery! I'm so glad you weren't too opinionated too. A lot of good movies coming out thanks!=)

  • Wow so many cool movies to wait for

  • LOL. Good one at the end when you made sense to his coworker.

  • Expelliarmus!

  • When Jack started speaking sense at the end that guy must have been like wHaT tHe FaHhHh? Lol.

  • I wouldn't cast a spell on Ray. I would give him a growth potion.

  • lmfao

  • I never knew that Scheider ad-libbed this line. Genius!

  • come on down and chump some of this shit

  • @passmethepepper chum, not chump. Throwing meat to attract a shark is chumming the water

  • @passmethepepper Not to be a grammar tool, but it's "chum", essentially fish blood and fish guts to attract sharks.

  • @xSnuffedx No shit sherlock. But he def says chump! ive read the script yo

  • @passmethepepper Chum dumbass... "Martin: You heard him, slow ahead! -- Slow ahead! I can go slow ahead! C'mon

down and chum some of this shit! -- You're gonna need a bigger boat."

    google it.

  • Movie lines don't come more classic than this!
