@zeppelinman4232 lol 2 years ago....uum...to each their own man, i like the original more tho this seems abit over produced. not taking anything away from them or their talent they still kick ass i just like original more.....
Well, i have to come here, because i know these are the only fans smart enough. The Abscence at least gave Testament credit and did a tribute of this song. However, Listen to the song Laid To Rest by lamb of god... they got so much influence from the original song it has to be a rip off... and same thing with Kittie and thier song My Plauge, except they completely copied everything about the opening riff, didnt even bother to change it. AT SOME POINT HOLD PROFESSIONAL MUSICISIANS RESPONSIBLE!!!!
and I see people often say covers of 80s songs by good bands are better and most often they rate because of the quality. So I want to tell you guys: YES it is obvious new covers will have better quality.
@AwesomeDeadScum I think this cover is pretty awesome, as far as recording quality yeah it's going to be better vs the original recorded back in the 80s like you said lol. My favorite version is still the one on Testament's First Strike Still Deadly album. \m/
I lol @ these people saying beating the original or not. Covers are not meant to beat original!!!! They are band's own interpretation of the song and it means they liked the original so much taht they decided to cover it so its kinda tribute to the band. Sure you can like one version more than the other, thats personal opinion but has nothing to do with cover beating original & vice versa. They are just different and everyone have their own taste
of course, the original is always better (unless we´re talking about CoB covering Britney Spears, for example) but this just multiplies the heaviness by a fucking thousand so to me this version is more enjoyable.
Great cover. I think it does honor to testament by keeping the essential riffs etc, while making it heavy enough to match the modern times, i.e. heavy enough to take on death metal aggressiveness (not saying thrash isn't heavy).
i love this band holy shit my new favourite ... i know i spelt that wrong but im soo hyped up now i wanna scpar it out with someone man holy shit ... thanks for the wicked video dude
dang this band has been making a name for itself a bit. i remember back then i had to look through about 4 pages when i searched "The Absence" now when i search it it's the 1st video in sight. i'm glad this bands getting kind of bigger because it deserves a lot more.
@FernandoMendoza775 I have to agree man, I remember those days well...haha. But since then oh god, they've done even better stuff. First track I heared was Necropolis. Then when I saw 'em live on the Twilight Of The Thundergod tour, I couldn't keep outta' the pit.
I was at the last stop of the Twilight of the Thunder God Tour of Amon Amarth on may 2nd, and The Absence was with them .. The Absence played this in their set and we had a circle pit goin, it was good shit :D
lol i know testament they are like the grand daddy of thrash hardcore metal. i dont need to look them up lol. and absence are new but will carry the torch. dont worry man we are on the same wave length.
sounding like lamb of good doesnt mean your copying, plus i think its a good thing sounding like them. they are unique i suppose as they use a tad more harmonies than Lamb of God in their riffs
went to see these guys last night and my face hurts now most brutal pit fucking kick ass concert these guys opened and by the end of it i wanted to see them more than amon amarth
Never knew this was a cover song

I would like to hear Chuck Billy's vocals over this instrumental version. That would be like a storm of metal up the asshole.

I like the original better but with more bass in the production it sounds slightly more agressive, which is good to my tastes.
