  • The R&A and the USGA should establish the parameters. The manufactures should design within these parameters. Everyone, hackers and pro's alike, play the same clubs within these parameters from the same point in time. Same rules apply to everyone. ?Why are the pro's still wearing steel spikes and I can't?

  • Why can't the USGA only limit tour player at tour events and not the manufactures? I don't think the USGA should be concerned recreational golfers. And im pretty sure that golf manufactures make the majority of their money from sales to the consumer. I just don't agree with this rule and the way it penalizes the average public golfer.

  • Ben, you ask a very good question. This is the first time that the USGA has actually mandated a manufacturing stoppage of equipment. The manufacturers can not fight this decision once the USGA has decided to implement the ruling because it takes a lot of money and time to work these disputes through court. The Solheim family would attest that it took years off of Karstens life when he fought the USGA. Its not worth it. Best Regards, Jesse

  • Thanks for the insight.

I will definitely be stocking up on wedges.

    Ben.

  • If Dick's intent is to regulate spin; the write the rule around spin. Don't write the rule around groove dimensions and let everyone guess what you mean by spin.

Time for the engineers to act like engineers.
