  • @logik316 we don't really know of it over here

  • turn the flame off as you put the turkey in WOW no fire!!!

  • i was so scared you were going to throw water on it!...then i saw the fire extinguisher. very nice though, stayed well under control.

  • careful now!

  • Why do americans deep fry turkey lol?

  • Because we fry everything.

  • @Pyroman1990 Because it tastes awesome, DUH

  • @Pyroman1990

Because it tastes good (or so I've heard).

  • I just got a new fryer with a bigger pot. I fried a bird last weekend and there was almost no spillage and very little flame.

The Turkey in this video was overcooked. My most recent effort (I've done about six so far) was the best.

And prior to cooking this bird I tried to measure the amount of oil needed with the water displacement method.

  • So...how did it come out???

  • people are just idiots, if you just follow the instructions you wont have a giant fire ball. we fried our turkey this year and it came out perfect.

  • This is why you first put the frozen turkey in the fryer pot, then fill with water to 1" above the turkey. You mark the water level. then DO NOT POUR OIL IN ABOVE THAT MARK!!!

  • thanks for showing this. deep frying turkeys should be left to the experts.

  • the dumbass just overfilled it, what an idiot!!!

  • but getting the fire extinguisher ready suggests he knew he had over-filled it ....

  • this is why warning labels were invented because of people like him what a dumb ass read the instructions its not a VCR its extremely dangerous and you need to take all safety precautions with this and all deep fryers come on lets use that tool thats in our skulls that we all use a small portion of but enough to know common sense...RIGHT????...naaahh

  • using an ELECTRIC TURKEY FRYER is much safer.

  • There is a reason why UL labs will not certify turkey deep fryers. People don't use common sense when filling them with oil because they don't understand the theory of displacement and the units are not stable and easy to tip over. Not worth the risk of burns if the unit catches fire and tips over. I wonder how many families wish to God they had never even heard of them.

  • Lord this is how you keep this from happening. It's so simple. You take the turkey and put it in the pot. Then take a hose and fill the pot up till the water covers the turkey. Then take a magnet,or marker,to mark the water line.that is now your oil line. Empty the pot, wipe dry or turn on flame and evaporate moister from pot for five min, then add oil. then when right temp..lower slowly and u got a safe fryer.Never ever let kids, pets around a fryer!

  • This bonehead didn't do a test dunk with the turkey the day before to see how much oil to use. We do that every year, even if we know what we used last year, just to be sure. It's the only to cook a turkey. We have been doing this for over five years and we follow all instructionds that come in the book and we have NEVER had a problem.

  • too much oil and too much gas

  • Great fireguard you got there! LOL..... Dry chem. would only put the fire out temporarly if it got really cooking anyway.

  • I dont know if I agree with that. We have had a couple of these catch fire that we shut the propane tank off and used a dry chemical exingusher and it did put it out.

  • Ive only got to try putting these out twice and we let them boil over to sim a small overflow on a deck.

Did you guys use PK because I tried a 5lb. ABC and that failed, but got it out temporaly with a 20lb. I heard that PK or BC works better on class K? This really got me thinking.

The only way I got it to go out and stay out was with a 2.5 gal. class K.

  • No one of the depts I worked for was in the ghetto LOTS of fire but just not alot of mony. So when we had these we would shut the fuel off hit it with a dry chemical and put a lid on it usually. That dept didnt even have a class K extiguisher

  • woops!! lol

  • You know, watching a turkey frying isn't that exciting.

  • Alton Brown has a video that shows how to do it nicely.

  • IDIOTS, turn off the fire b4 u put in the turkey.

  • You idiot, the oil doesn't magically dissapear when the flame is off. In fact, it would be more dangerous putting your hand down there trying to relight it after spilling the oil. They did the right thing and let the excess oil burn off. If the top part caught fire all they had to do is wait for the oil to stop bubbling over the edge and smother it with a lid.

  • are u that pansy that didnt wanna use that fire extingusher....trying to defend urself huh...pansy.

    i love you
