The Commonwealth is term for all the countries formally ruled by the British (the British are those guys that live in England who ruled over you until 1776) Canada, the USA, parts of Africa and Asia, etc are all part of The Commonwealth. Most people in Commonwealth countries use British English and spell words such as colour, favourite, and neighbourhood with a 'U' in them after the 'o'. The Americans for whatever reason dropped the U. I spelt favourite right, no need for correction
