umauman... that's 4 posts now without saying anything except that my views are false. You haven't backed up your claim with any evidence of even a personal perspective. You just keep finding different ways of telling me I'm wrong. Interesting tactic. Now I'm the one laughing...
Well Mink, I apologize for using so much cyberspace to repeat a concept to someone who said that they did not understand my position. Very well, I know that I will not "convert the choir" but let me say in leaving, your propensity for buying into conspiracy theories like "BIG SCIENCE WORLD VIEWS" makes you the perfect putty for ID. I will go now to refresh myself on the "Elders of Zion" then engage in a secret Masonic Ritual designed to turn to into slaves.
It is true that when someone says "one of two options" it is usually someone arguing ID. the point that the film tries to make is that no one from the other side will make that statement or that no one can out loud.
I am so glad that people enjoy this video. I hoped it would be a hit and I am glad that it sparked some debate and conversation! tell your friends and lets keep this going.
umaum... you've used up three posts to say the exact same thing which really isn't saying anything at all... What are the alternate origin of life theories you elude to. I know of 2: Random or Design. What are the options you say I'm excluding? In my opinion true science would never purposely ignore a legitimate possibility unless it was proven 100% impossible and that hasn't happened for either of the 2 theories so that suggests to me that a world view is in play rather than pure science.
The point is this, whenever anyone discusses any aspect of this issue, and includes the "only two possibilities" assumption (or any form like trains of thought) you can rest assured you are hearing the ID position. This false dichotomy is an absolute necessity to build the foundation of their negative argumentation, which only includes criticism of "life without intelligent design".
Mink...the name is real....it is Hawaiian for the picasso triggerfish. Well I would like to congratulate you for your intellectual separation of origins of life and evolution, most ID'ers refuse to do that, including mister Stein and his "lacuna" comment. Anyway the problem is the same whether you consider evolution or life's origin. The assumption of only two possibilities is a false dichotomy. You cleverly try to skirt this by calling it "trains of thought" but it is really the same.
Since Evolution doesn't attempt to address the "origin" of life but rather the evolvement that followed, I'm not sure I understand your argument. I wasn't talking about evolution. I was talking about the two theories for the origin of life. Random or design? I'm not aware of a 3rd argument... Can you enlighten me?
Sorry minksseattle but the concept that "there are only two possibilities" either evolution is true or ID is true is the standard opening shell game used by creationists. If people accept that there are only 2 possibilities, then you can do what Ben Stein did and simply criticize evolution without any positive proof on your side and try to win the argument by "default."
Hey Kevin... Good to see you here. Nice working with you on Expelled. I like what Steve Myers pointed out in the film best... There are only two trains of thought or theories with regard to the origin of life. One is that life began purely by chance and without intelligent direction. The other is that life is the result of some kind of intelligent guidance or design. The rules of science are currently being applied to foreclose one of the only two possible answers.
Sweet interview! Thank you so much for sharing it! My favorite quote: "Ben Stein...is just a human being" :D But good clarification of the movie overall by Kevin Miller, and very well-directed open questions by JR.

Expelled is a blatently dishonest movie. The people behind it should be ashamed of themselves.
