For ddanze, Better late than never.. you hit the nail on the head when you spoke of your hearing impairment Dude. spend some of your savings at the shrink, your' a little out there if you expect anyone to believe any.... ANY Tak would hold a candle to this Martin. If yours sounds so good, why fiddle with the braces, let'er ride Man!
Yes you can buy a used takamine for $250 and save the money for an ear surgery, or some high quality monitors.
If your taka sounds as good as this Martin, keep it forever, and bring it to the church : it's maybe a miracle that a plywood guitar can sound like a solid wood guitar (with expensive wood like adirondack and madagascar rosewood).
@Voltara Now that's about as absurd as saying a $250 tak sounds as good as this one. They do make good guitars which easily outstrip the lower end Martins. That being said, Martin is a superior company.
It is the superior sound recently that it listened.

Soon will post a '56 Martin D-18 I've almost
finished restoring (also installed wide fretboard and a 24 1/2" scale).

No Plywood! Mine I got used for $100, a Takamine G340SC - you can see it playing
Beatles "Mother Natures Son" on my channel
(ddanze). Solid Spruce top. I put a wide
fretboard on it right away, and replaced the
cheap tuners with Schaller minis. It's not
quite as pure as a Taylor GS, but has the
big sound I need with hearing loss. I'm sure
your Martin has a much purer/sweeter sound.
Next will re-work the top bracing so it's even
smoother with my extra-light gauge strings.

sounds ok, but have a takamine that sounds
just as good easily - why pay Martin prices??
get one for $240 used that sounds as good
and isn't a liability.
