  • Cica ''ș'' se pronunță ''șe'' :)))

  • I think you're confusing people with your alphabet pronunciation, if you were to stick to the correct pronunciation (the one that we use) people would not have such trouble understanding it. It's a, bî, cî, dî, e, fî, gî, hî, .....etc. Anyway just my two cents.

  • Romanian is so much like Spanish! I'm amazed!

  • Ai accent, dar in fine,nu iti trebuie accent ca sa vorbesti romana.Este o limba foarte grea pt. cei ce o invata.Eu traiesc in Romania si m-am nascut tot in Romania.Desi ai niste greseli este bine pentru inceput, continua si vei prinde limba.Concentreaza-te mai mult pe ortograme pentru ca limba romana pe asta se bazeaza.Sa ai o zi frumoasa!:)

  • Mulțumesc mult :) But I have trouble with the rolled r's in a middle of a word. :P :)

  • aloooooooo !!!!

daaca la C spui 'ce', du-te si invata din nou romana.

    H - haș ???

    H -hî

    C- cî

deci ... scoate vocea de pe video si modifica te rog cu îîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîîî

  • engleza ta e... "minunata".

  • I am very excited to run across this video! my boyfriend is Moldovan and he is teaching me Romanian but he can't always tell me why words are what they are. This video has helped me tremendously! I will definitely be checking out the other videos! thanks!

  • at S,s you should pronounce "es" , not "se"

  • O cola terog!

  • as much as i try, i can't pronounce the "ă" :/

  • La Y puteai folosi yală

  • i m going to see all ur videos about romanian language so i can improve it, u see i was born in Romania but moved out when i was 5 and i know how to speak it and pronounce the words and read a little bit, but i dont know any grammar rules and is kinda difficult for me to make a discussion in Romanian language for example with my grand-mother because my vocabulary is poor and i also find difficulty on translating greek words to romanian.

  • I was wondering.

I am of Russian herritage and speak english. I have studied Spanish in school and was wondering if knowing Russian and Spanish would give me an edge in learning this Language. I listen to Romanian Club Music and really would love to learn the Language so i can understand what i am listening to. It is the most beautiful language i have ever heard.

  • @skhaimsky Yes, both languages will help you, Russian will help you mostly with objects, Spanish with almost any verb :). But if you wish more you can learn Latin and then you could easily start learning Romanian , French,Italian and Portuguese :).

  • la litera Q quintal nu ar putea fi un exemplu?

  • i love romanian :) so much

  • There are 3 different accents. Accent ardelenesc, accent moldovenesc and accent oltenesc. " Accent ardelenesc " sounds like original romanian but with hungarian influence, " accent moldovenesc " sounds just like the normal language but with russian influence and " accent oltenesc " it is the most original romanian accent because it was used in " Tara Romaneasca ". I use the romanian language with hungarian influence, but there is no a big difference between these 3 accents,

  • Romanian sounds good.

  • Is the romanian language derived from the greek or latin? I've noticed many romanian words are similar to the portuguese words

  • @andrepnd Latin

  • @andrepnd , yeap many words similar with Portuguese but there is almost 80% lexical similarity with Italian and in the case of some dialects ( Sardinian, Sicilian, etc ) it's even closer. Italian is by far the closest language to Romanian. Salutari in Brazilia :)

  • Actually the pronunciation is quite easy I'd say but grammar is more difficult.

"ǎ" similar to "e" in "father", "mother" or the simple indefinite article "a" - "a book" .

"â from a " and "î from i " , "â" & "î" designate the same sound, in the past all words used to be written with "î" but new grammarians set new rules such as: "î" - beginning, end of words and in compound words (+ pref) such as: multîndrǎgit (notice that "mult" is her a prefix) etc.

  • @MMiraJeS "â" is used anywhere - inside - the word.

To pronounce them think of something like you're going to the bathroom and there is a smell and you would say "ewww" which I've noticed in some movies it's somewhat similar to the Romanian "î", this might be a creepy explanation but trust me it kind of works.

Also take notes: Romanian vowels are shorter than vowels from other languages, be careful mostly with final "i" and especially with "li" & "ri" combination.

  • kryss483 sorry for adding this, I think your vids are really great material but I thought I might help a bit too!

  • all i can think of is O-Zone

  • Hi, woow thank you for these great videos! dont worry about accent, nobody's accent is perfect, and i am shure for some of us will be dificult get romanian accent when we speak in romanian :).. yeah my mother tongue is spanish also :) i hope i can learn romanian soon :)

  • hi! i just started learning romanian but i'm struggling with the pronunciation of â. i know the sounds because we have to same in dutch but after studying it seems some â are pronounced more like a. like in the words în^ca and fântânâ. you pronounce the last a's of the word more like a instead of î & â. is that because its the last letter of the word? (same in mama) thanks:)

  • @armanda89 No. In încă and fântână there is the ă not an â :) They're different letters and sounds.

  • @kryss483 haha ok:) thanks!

  • So why is carne pronounced "kar-d-neh" when C in the Romanian alphabet the "ch" sound?

  • @polandpal97 In words, the C is like the C in "car" :) Only if it's "ce" or "ci" it's like in the ch in "cheese".

But when we say the alphabet, we usually say "ce" or the "ch" sound.

  • @kryss483 Thanks! I was just a little confused.

  • Rolling of the "r" 's...gave me issues in Spanish...we meet again!

  • @VisualKeiCupcake me too dude!

  • hey, nice video. Thankyou somuch. Please upload more videos.

  • wooo, it's cool!!!! my mother tongue's spanish; romanian has similar words than spanish!!

  • mulțumesc :) I want to learn Romanian because my boyfriend is Romanian and I would love to speak to him in his native language.

  • I`m sorry but I must tell you no such a thing in English as "double V" as you said.... W called "double U"

  • @ButterflyTheOriginal Whateva`.

  • I don't know exactly, but the letter "C" is supposed to be pronounced in 2 different ways. Am I right ?

One of them sounds like "K" like the K in the english alphabet.

The other one is like "Ch"

Please help, and excuse for the bad english :/

  • @ceeyda22 when C is in front of "e" or "i", "he" or "hi" it is pronounced along with them as a single sound, and it's different in each case. [chi] sounds like "ki" in "kiss" and [che] sounds like "ke" in "market"

[ci] sounds like the "chi" from chilli, and [ce] sounds like "che" from cherish

It other cases, C is C as in "candle".

The same goes to G. You can search for Romanian words starting with "ge" on forvo dot com, I don't any word that contains all of those sounds in English.

  • Dragut video;efortul de apreciat de asemenea.Keep up the good work!

  • That was very cute! I loved it! Plus you still have a Romanian accent. Most Romanians outside of Romania have tilted or lost their accent to the country they now live in. You still live in Romania, don't you? Loved it. Te Iubesc.

  • I love how you say L :-)

I was surprised how many of the sample words I knew, but it seems learning the actual alphabet alone looks like a challenge... looks like just gotta keep watching the video....

  • Felicitari pentru initiativa. As avea totusi 2 mentiuni de facut pentru acest clip:

    1. Avem mai multe cuvinte pentru litera Q/ q insa marea majoritate sunt neologisme, dar ele totusi exista.

    2. Legat de pronuntia literelor ea se poate face in 2 moduri, ambele fiind acceptate. B, b / Be/ Bî; C, c / Ce/ Cî.

    Overall.. felicitari pentru idee.

  • Don't worry about negative comments, from a Catalan speaker it's easier to learn your language coz Catalan and Romanian are very close! • Thank you so much!

  • KaKa kilometruXD

  • Why the Romanian is so similar to Portuguese and Italian?

  • @anothercommonguy They all come from Latin, that's why it is so easy to learn Portuguese/Romanian/French/Spanish/Italian when you already know one.

  • @anothercommonguy they are all romance languages.. and spanish is as well.

  • @TheAspiringLinguist5

    @zellator

Now I understand, thanks both. :)

  • @anothercommonguy you're welcome:) it is kind of odd though to because spanish, portuguese, french, italian are all close together.... but the other romance language is in the middle of slavic languages.. kinda weird how that worked out.

  • @anothercommonguy because Romanian is one of the five 'Romance' languages: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian. This doesn't mean that they sound romantic, but they come from the word 'Roman' as each language comes from Latin. For example, the words 'one, two, three' in Latin are 'unus, duo, tres', in French: 'un, deux, trois', in Spanish: 'uno, dos, tres', in Italian: 'uno, due, tre', in Portuguese: 'um,dois,três', and in Romanian: 'unu, doi, trei'. See? They're all similar :)

  • Your accent is adorable<3 :)

  • mah eu am o problema,de cand se pronunta G-ul ghe??

  • Comment removed

  • Salut! Cum esti? Thank you for making this video (and the others) I will use them as a learning aid. It is very helpful to be able to listen to a real Romanian speaker.

    Pa pa!

  • @auggiedoggy Hello, fine thanks :) Happy to help :)

  • @kryss483 : Don't ever apologize for your accent. The world would be boring if we all sounded the same. One more question: Your English is very good. Do they teach English in Romanian schools as a second language?

    Mulţumesc foarte mult. ;o)

  • @auggiedoggy romanian kids start learning foreign languages in kindergarten or second year of school(at least when i was a kid, they might start in the 1st grade now).

historically french was the 1st foreign language taught with the second being english/spanish/italian/portuguese/german/russian. the second language is usually taught beginning with the 5th/6th year in school(11-13yo).

now, the main language they learn is english with the others trailing(french is 2nd by numbers of students).

  • @Kamadeva01 : Interesting. Mulţumesc.

  • OMG! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS! I am interning in Arad, Romania this coming june for 6 weeks and wanted to pick up some romanian. Your videos are the most useful, best thing i can find! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! They've helped me a lot. =]

  • @moldumitru Dragu' meu, am ales cuvântul acela pentru că se găseşte şi în engleză în aceeaşi formă. De ce să fi ales altul, tipic românesc?

  • Hi there @ kryss483. Thanks a lot. I am trying to learn Romanian on my own. My girlfriend is Romanian and I am Indian. I am planing to meet her this year and I want to learn Romanian so that I can communicate a little with her parents as they don't know English. :) I am subscribing to your channel. Please also come up with other videos.

    Regards,

    Gaurav. :)

  • Where are you from?

  • Inca n-am mai auzit de litera Se! Iar in paranteza se scrie pronuntarea fonetica!!!!

  • I'm from Brazil and I love your country! Romanian seems like Portuguese! I just noticed, some words are the same! Thank you for posting the lessons, I'll try learning some of the basics! And don't worry, your accent is beautiful!

  • I'm 1/4 Romanian myself; my great-grandparents are from Bucharest. I remember my first encounter with a Romanian Greek-Catholic priest, and when I presented him with that knowledge, he began to speak Romanian. I felt kind of embarrassed, as I was the first generation of my family not to know any Romanian. I have heard my great-grandmother speak it, but I couldn't understand a thing she said.

  • Your voice is so cute!! Thankyou so much!

  • x (ixs) and igz don't exist!!!

  • i am going to timisoara " in august > does anyone wanna go there??

  • @jordanian59 cool, I don't live there but I've heard is a beautiful city :)

  • @jordanian59 HI!

I am flying into Tinisoara late June 2011

  • @revroyolsen

tour? i am not from there but we can meet there if u want .. good luck

  • @revroyolsen

    i'm from Timisoara :)

  • @jordanian59 I'll be arad, a nearby city until mid august! I hear Timisoara is beautiful!

  • @jordanian59 I live in Timisoara :P

  • at the end uhh eee uhh ahah XD

  • and S, s pronounced "es" not "se"

  • By the way...

R, r no pronounced "re" is "er"

  • OMG o.o

Deci nu pot sa cred ca romana este atat de cautata!

Ma si mir, daca ma credeti!

    Apropo, pronunti foarte bine!

  • yay! back again!

  • Thanks a lot! I've been looking for the correct pronunciation of â and î. By the way, it's very fun to notice just how alike Romanian and Portuguese are! I am quite amazed at how much Romanian I can understand, even though I have no prior experience with your language at all. Best wishes and cheers from Brazil.

  • @biophr34k Yes, the two languages are quite similar :) For us it's easy to learn your language, too :D Thanks for the comment :)

  • @kryss483 For Spanish speakers we can't understand Romanian but we can understand Italian.

  • @SkelaSnave , it's true. The biggest similarity Romanian has with Italian ( over 77% ) and in some cases of central and southern Italian dialects even closer. It seems our ancestors ( Romans ) came from there....Anyway i think by far the most awkward Latin language is French ( even statistically it has the biggest deviation from vulgar Latin ). Cheers from Romania to our Latin family!

  • @gogoasacenusie I wish there was somehow a way for Spanish speakers understand Romanian....some words are completely different like bǎiatul and niño. It's funny bǎitul reminds me of how Irish people say boy. They say something like boy'ol :)

  • @SkelaSnave , right. Also in Italian is different - "ragazzo". For Romanian, i can tell you that "baiat" is an ancient word of Dacian origin ( Dacians were the native inhabitants of Romania before the Roman conquest ). Anyway, if you're interested you should see the written form of Romanian, i'm sure you'll find it interesting.

  • @gogoasacenusie Does 'ragazzo' mean boy? What do you mean written form of Romanian?

  • @SkelaSnave , no, "ragazzo" means boy in Italian. I was showing you it's different too from "nino" or "baiat". About the written form i was saying that, unlike when a language is spoken, in the written form you can see all the words clearly and consequently see the common or different origin

  • @gogoasacenusie Oh yeah I love the way it's spoken and written. Both look and sound really stunning.

  • @biophr34k I'm Romanian!

  • Thank you very much for putting this up :) i've been trying to find a good video for sooo long!!!

  • I really love this lesson @kryss483 !! I have a friend from Romania and I want to impress her with Romanian so I am trying to learn the language. It is so fun! Don't listen to @MsBenjamin27 ... Your accent is beautiful :)

  • Comment removed

  • thanks :)

  • Thank you :)

    Gracias :)

  • So it's kinde of like Spanish, English, and Italian got together and had a Romanian language baby?

  • Comment removed

  • @MsBenjamin27 And you should keep your mouth shut because I try at least helping people. And what if I can't speak English, oh so well as you would like to? I don't force you to watch these videos, nor to listen my "accent and pronunciation". You should know very well that Romanians have quite a deep accent when talking in English. You can see that here are people who want to learn this language and don't care about my English. You also shouldn't care.

  • @kryss483 So you are telling me that all romanians are as stupid as you are?I do not belive this,I think that there are romanians who know to pronounce and control their accent ,to improve their language, because as you know the better you pronounce and have a proper accent, the better a person will understand you(asta trebuia sa fi invatat tu la scoala, dupaia sa-i inveti tu pe altii...)

  • @kryss483 Lol! I'm Romanian, seriously, for me those are really easy! :D

  • @MsBenjamin27 "learn others romanian language"? I believe you mean "teach others the Romanian language". It's embarrass not "emberass". Anyone who is speaking a second language will have an accent unless they are in an immersion situation for a very long time and even then most will retain some of their accent. This woman's English is a lot better then yours. You need to improve your English if you want to correct others. You're embarrassing yourself.

  • @trsdavid14 Da, am dori să înveţe :D

  • Hey girl! You are amazaingg!! Thanks!

  • he ir romanian uou dumb babegirl1818 for that

  • @Attackspeed yes it is

  • awesome

  • bravo draga lu tata!

  • Mulţumesc

  • I love the video! I learned a lot.

I'm curious. Is there a major difference between the Romanian accent and the Moldovan accent?

  • @Attackspeed You're referring to Moldova, as a region of Romania, or you're referring to the Republic of Moldova? Because the Rumanians from Republic of Moldova have a deep Russian accent (many years they were forced to speak Russian). Romanians from Moldovan region speak a Romanian softer language (they pronounce vowels much longer and deeper)

  • @Attackspeed Personally, I believe that the Moldovan accent is very nice, especially for women.
