Honey Lantree had an aggressive sound on the drums and while it was relatively simple she had good speed, accuracy and most importantly she had a clean and tasty approach. Not too flashy, not intricate, but exactly perfect for that song. In all honesty, I've seen better drummers perform this song and none sounded as good as Honey who created the drum beat for this classy song.
@isawman1 the blond man was jimmy saville one of the first british dj's who introduced many tv pop programmes like top of the pops for years, he passed away a couple of months ago
Those were golden days for british pop music and the simple way of life, now all things seen so tacky and artificial....modern music and song have the dead noise but not the spirit (musical quality)
The time were very good. The peace and love era. There were Peace and Love Sit Ins and pot of course. Good Memories for this cat. The music is still to be remembered., unlike todays.

The stomping drum sound on the chorus was achieved by the producer Joe Meek attaching microphones to his wooden staircase in his flat and then getting the band to jump up and down on it. No wonder his landlady complained... no wonder he blew her (and himself) away with a shotgun! Now THAT sound would have made a great snare drum sample!

@TheBombson I'm happy you discovered 60's music and rejected the trash of today. What led you to go back with music may I ask or did you always like older music?
@moxie96 well this makes my comment pointless, haha, but if you want to know; it's not really that I went back with music-I love some living artists as Koop or Nouvelle Vague-but yes I definitely reject the trash of today. And as much as I love the music I find, I also see there was trash before too,it's just that people were not so brainwashed and most of them knew how to recognize it. I also enjoy the Jazz era and some classical works, so I'd say good music-as good stlye-never gets old.

The 2 guitarists on the left look like they are masturbating--glazed faces concealing one brain cell between them and the dyke on the drums was almost certainly a part time police officer
@BlueRoses1962 A female drummer never ceases to impress me! No matter how many times I've seen one. No matter how far we've come (or fallen behind perhaps) in music, the drum seat is still sorta seen as a man's domain.
Logging in from Wellington, New Zealand. Honey was probably the first female drummer in a pop band. I bought this 45 the day it was released in NZ. Gerat song.
@mrhighway9 That's funny more than you know...when Rick Moranis was on SCTV his music parodies were beyond hilarious, especially Jerry Todd and the lounge singer doing "De Do Do De Da Da Da" and "Turning Japanese".
I'm the only 18 year old I know that loves this stuff. I wish this kinda music was still around. All we have now is garbage. I wish I lived in these times, musta been good.
@Mullenfreek I'm almost 60 now. I lived through this. It was more than good. Every new week brought a new sound that we hadn't heard before. The Beatles, on their own, didn't make 2 albums that sounded the same, let alone 2 songs that sounded the same. Listen chronologically from late 1963 through 1969, the years of the British Invasion, and it's remarkable how fast things were changing and progressing. Don't fret, this music is still around, just like Beethoven and Mozart are still around.
I'm 64 and I agree with all that you say. I'm in NZ and I couldn't wait for each new day to dawn so I could hear something new and different. I think that in my first year at work (1964) I bought nigh on 2000 45rpms!
