  • All this time I never knew they had a girl drummer. Always loved this song ... so upbeat. A fun song.

  • Nice snatch!

  • This is a really brilliant track.....It flows with an element of magic, hauntingly beautiful journey into the past with this track.

  • there isn't a drum on this record - Joe Meek's broom on the stairs! Poor lady downstairs.

  • just brilliant

  • I love this!

  • Honey Lantree had an aggressive sound on the drums and while it was relatively simple she had good speed, accuracy and most importantly she had a clean and tasty approach. Not too flashy, not intricate, but exactly perfect for that song. In all honesty, I've seen better drummers perform this song and none sounded as good as Honey who created the drum beat for this classy song.

  • This song always gave me the chills lol

  • @Cml725 Seriously -- why isn't she famous? Name one woman drummer who had a hit during the 60'.

  • just jokins cx

  • I had the single and played it and played it again and again as a 8 year old boy!!

  • Any body have a clue what that bass guitar is I got to get me one of those...Appreciate and British friends abroad helping me out... Thanks....

  • This was a big hit back in the day- thanks for posting this.

  • Tranny Ringo???

  • rippertune boris!!

  • The woman drumming never got any credit. There were no women drumming at the time and she was the backbeat of this masterpiece.

  • Who was the blonde haired chap at the beginning ???

  • @isawman1 the blond man was jimmy saville one of the first british dj's who introduced many tv pop programmes like top of the pops for years, he passed away a couple of months ago

  • @otterman62 Thanks matey !!!

  • Those were golden days for british pop music and the simple way of life, now all things seen so tacky and artificial....modern music and song have the dead noise but not the spirit (musical quality)

  • The girl on the drums is freaking me out!

  • @mmarcacci I can't think of another woman drummer during the 60's. That's what freaks me out.

  • @StanBennet Actually Karen Carpenter also played the drums

  • @Nuerth correct but not until the 70's.

  • @StanBennet Ann "Honey" Lantree, and wow, she's really good! I never saw this "live" before.

  • @Cml725 She needs to go into the hall of fame. A woman drummer? Come on. It didn't happen in the 60's.

  • Ernie Douglas on rythm guitar ladies and gentlemen. lol

  • @AJohnnymous hahaha... I was thinking the same thing... Ernie from My Three Sons...

  • I'm not saying there wasn't good music in the 60's, but most of it I can't stand because 95% of what I hear is people whining about love. *pukes*

  • Honey Lantell was one hell of a drummer

  • The time were very good. The peace and love era. There were Peace and Love Sit Ins and pot of course. Good Memories for this cat. The music is still to be remembered., unlike todays.

  • mialam wtedy 15 lat i poprzez zaklocenia i szumy sluchalam tej piosenki ktora przypominala mi niespelniona milosc internet mam od niedawna na stare lata i blisko rok szukalam tej melodii i nareszcie dzisiaj znalazlam dzieki you tube

  • is that austin powers on guitar?

  • love the burns guitars was this a joe meek production?

  • @1551952

Yes it was JM produced, and in his flat (right down to him stomping in the bathtub too to get the thumping sound in the chorus).

  • i wonder where is she?

  • i wonder where is she???????

  • The stomping drum sound on the chorus was achieved by the producer Joe Meek attaching microphones to his wooden staircase in his flat and then getting the band to jump up and down on it. No wonder his landlady complained... no wonder he blew her (and himself) away with a shotgun! Now THAT sound would have made a great snare drum sample!

  • Ernie Douglas on Guitar.

  • @renecrod3 I was thinking the exact same thing !!!! LOL

  • I noticed that the guitars where not plugged in, but at the time programs such as top of the pops wanted bands to just mime, it made it easier to make the program.

  • It's just a shame that this video was a mime, these 60's bands could really play, the music is still good though.

  • @wolfieworldwide The dead give away was the fact that none of the guitars were plugged in!

  • A young Jimmy Savile at the very start

  • I'm 19 and I know that NO ONE CARES HOW OLD I AM and I get annoyed with "I'm young and I listen to this" comments.

  • @TheBombson I'm happy you discovered 60's music and rejected the trash of today. What led you to go back with music may I ask or did you always like older music?

  • @moxie96 well this makes my comment pointless, haha, but if you want to know; it's not really that I went back with music-I love some living artists as Koop or Nouvelle Vague-but yes I definitely reject the trash of today. And as much as I love the music I find, I also see there was trash before too,it's just that people were not so brainwashed and most of them knew how to recognize it. I also enjoy the Jazz era and some classical works, so I'd say good music-as good stlye-never gets old.

  • @TheBombson I care how old you are!

  • I never knew "Squints" from "The Sandlot" could play guitar. :)

  • @Adamc753 I thought it was Ernie from My Three Sons!!!

  • nice music *PROST* :)

  • Hello, where you always brings forth the great videos thank you, incredible and awesome super receptive, for this song ... greetings from Germany

  • Those Burns guitars are kickass. Used also by Hank Marvin from The Shadows.

  • surprising to have a 1960s pop video filmed in 2.35:1

  • Thank God somebody filmed these great British invasion acts for us fans who missed out in that great era of music!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank god for somebody to film these great British invasion acts for us fans who missed out in that great era of music!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not sure why but I have a "thing" for female drummers! And I think it's pretty cool. This song is good too.

  • @BlueRoses1962 A female drummer never ceases to impress me! No matter how many times I've seen one. No matter how far we've come (or fallen behind perhaps) in music, the drum seat is still sorta seen as a man's domain.

  • Jimmy Saville looks ike a tramp at the start

  • honeyyyyyyyyyy................drums

  • love these 60s vids, great old instruments, and joe meek production

  • Logging in from Wellington, New Zealand. Honey was probably the first female drummer in a pop band. I bought this 45 the day it was released in NZ. Gerat song.

  • Still love this oldie!!!

  • Chick drummers rock !

  • rick moranis on rhythm guitar

  • @mrhighway9 That's funny more than you know...when Rick Moranis was on SCTV his music parodies were beyond hilarious, especially Jerry Todd and the lounge singer doing "De Do Do De Da Da Da" and "Turning Japanese".

  • That guy with the glasses looks like Jerry Lewis :)

  • sacré GANG .

  • il y en avait un , le pauvre était myope comme une TAUPE .

  • My new favourite song !

  • Wow nice guitars!! And the drummer chick "Honey" looks nice too! Great band.

  • Ah . . . have we forgotten that it was Miss Moe Tucker who kept the beat for the most dangerous band of the 60s?

  • I dont really care for this song....

  • Watching such stuff again - therefore,i like u-tube !!!

    Think u can't imagine,how much I like to THANK U !!!

  • Not only is "POP GEAR" an amazing 60's British Beat movie, it's also an Amazingly High price, due to it's rareness !

  • Honey Langtree was also the only one to know they were going to film in color.

  • This song reeks of Joe Meek's production methods...and believe me that's a good thing!

  • classic song, amazing looking guitars!

  • Damn, that's good..

  • I love how loud and commanding 60s music was!!!

  • good song!

  • I'm the only 18 year old I know that loves this stuff. I wish this kinda music was still around. All we have now is garbage. I wish I lived in these times, musta been good.

  • @Mullenfreek I'm almost 60 now. I lived through this. It was more than good. Every new week brought a new sound that we hadn't heard before. The Beatles, on their own, didn't make 2 albums that sounded the same, let alone 2 songs that sounded the same. Listen chronologically from late 1963 through 1969, the years of the British Invasion, and it's remarkable how fast things were changing and progressing. Don't fret, this music is still around, just like Beethoven and Mozart are still around.

  • I'm 64 and I agree with all that you say. I'm in NZ and I couldn't wait for each new day to dawn so I could hear something new and different. I think that in my first year at work (1964) I bought nigh on 2000 45rpms!

  • @Mullenfreek i'm 13 and i love this old stuff too.

  • @Mullenfreek It was a great time for music!

  • @Mullenfreek

    i'm 15 :D

  • @Mullenfreek i'm 60 and i tell you those were the times, i still listen to them , i do not play no songs past '68, well maybe a few, ciao

  • @Mullenfreek

Right on Mullenfreek, your totally right. Thanks.

  • @Mullenfreek They were!

  • Love those Burns "Bison" guitars

  • good song

  • I have ALWAYS danced to the beat of the drum (maybe its the native American in me?!!~lol) I LOVE THIS SONG & THE GAL ON THE DRUMS IS FAB!!!!! A drum banging GOOD song!!!!!

  • How is the video in such high quality?

*Has been replaying it for an hour or so* O u O

  • @LeoDeGrand It is from the movie "Pop Gear" which featured the biggest acts of the day. It is a high quality technicolor film and well worth getting on DVD.

  • So in love withthe blokein the glasses.

  • @polecatcontinuum hes not hilarious because of his appearance (although it certainly adds to it :P), i was mostly refering to his enthusiasm :P

  • jimmy rogers,"the singing brakeman"is not the same as the singer in "honeycomb".different jimmie rogers.honey lantree was a great drummer.her driving beat makes this song even more exciting.great english group sound.the quality of this is incredilble.love it!

  • @MEXECUSIONER Give yourself an uppercut and leave the building!

  • Loved this 40+ years ago and love it now!!! Thanks for posting!

  • I'm not surprised this was number one, at the end of the video what do I do? click replay thats what I do :) GREAT song, nice to see Jimmy Saville at the beginning.

  • If it wasn't for Joe Meek more than half of the present day music would not exist.

  • haha chubby in the glasses is hilarious

  • Guitarist on the left.............should have went to specsavers!

  • I like the Telestar sound of the guitar, the dance moves and the drummer Honey Lantree. One of my fave songs.

  • Still one of my fave songs.

  • One of my very favorite songs! Heard it 45 years ago and never forgot it.

Whenever, if ever, it's on the radio, it just makes my day, brings a smile, and takes me back to a kinder, sweeter, gentler time.

    Great, GREAT, fabulous song!!

Still sounds as vibrant as ever......not old and stale like most songs from that era.

    You Rock!!

  • The geezer in the glasses is too much! Man, are these guys English enough for you?

  • one my very favorite early british invasion songs!! great jingle jangle guitar sound and strong vocal. the driving drums put it over the top. one of britians finest moments!!! I remember seeing them on shindig many moons ago. the girl drummer was a novelty back then.

  • now isnt this better than snoop dogg huh ?

  • This is effing incredible! Joe Meek = Genius. Thanks for sharing it.

  • GREAT !

    I appreciate a lot

    5*****

    SMILE

  • The lead singer has an uncanny resemblance to Buddy Holly (Just imagine him with thick glasses)... And the voice is also similar!

  • She has the most unorthodox style of drumming that I've ever seen!

  • Martin Murray, the bespectacled rhythm guitar player, is an absolute hoot! He exudes pure happiness performing this song :) Makes me smile whenever I watch him.

  • wonderfull

    i have record too^^

  • One of them looks like Ernie from My Three Sons!

  • God Keep Joe meek 93

  • Honey Lantree

    Drums and singer.

  • Nekem nagyon tetszik ez a szám a nevük magyarul: mézfésűk

  • reminds me of when i was smalll and lived abroad ...... i spoke another languague and couldnt understand a word they said ... :)

  • ...Interesting guitar collection...must be sponsored by whatever brand this is. They even work without a patch cord!

  • @jettbugg

The guitars are Burns of London. Elvis used one as did many others. Their pickups were far superior to others. Still available today.

  • i'm in luv' with the drummer!

  • Too bad there isn't a stereo copy of this song or the LP. When I first saw them in a film preview I was really knocked out that they had a female drummer. She was good! And very cute!

  • Wonderfull ,,Was this filmed for cinema release as it 's filmed in widescreen ? .Fantastic condition.

  • Joe Meek definately speeded this track up slightly. It's a classic but there's no way it's being played at the right speed, it's evident, especially the chorus!

  • @pocketsledge Yea Karen Carpenter was an accomplished drummer

  • Hail! Hail The Burns Bison guitar

Loved this band in californina...my now aged sis was in love with the guitar player on the right.

And a female drummer(!) what was that all about?

  • @12347771

"And a female drummer(!) what was that all about? "

Yeh - pretty radical at the time....

  • Funny but I've always thought that too!! Wonder if it was intentional? Love the drums on this(ie floor boards in Joe Meek's bathroom).

  • awesome

  • Great song!

  • Thumping good stuff this! Rock to this one!

  • pitthle

  • Youtube is no place for your moronic comments! Honey Langtree as a drummer is what made the honeycombs! It was unheard of in the 60's and is still a rariety to this day. Good on her for breaking the rules and helping create the faboulous sounds that made 60's rock music!

  • Damn right

  • @spikeman14

Honey inspired Carol Carpenter to be a drummer.

  • @spikeman14 No reason to be offended. One of the main reasons people check out YouTube is simply to read the moronic (and often humorous) comments! I can't help but laugh at some of this stuff!!

  • @spikeman14 Lindy Morrison of The Go-Betweens, Australia, was the next rare one to play drums.

  • Absolutely great quality video! (and I've probably watched every version of "Have I The Right" on that's been posted on YouTube!) I love everything about this song...the sheer volume...the vocals...the energy...the foot stomping...the hand clapping...most of all the jangly sounding guitar--it's fantastic! And Honey Lantree was quite a good drummer, too! Thanks so much!

  • Saw this group live in Bangkok in 1965, Peter Pye had just joined them as lead guitarist. They were great. Honey, their drummer was indeed a rarity in these days. But she played well.

  • A great song a Joe Meek Production Featuring Matt From Muse on Lead Vocals, Ernie from my three sons on Lead Guitar, on Bass Mr. Bean, on Rythm guitar the Boy From Flipper and on drums the Office Secratary

  • This group was totally awesome and in my opinion never got the credit here in the States that they so richly deserved! The blonde guy on the far right could have passed for my twin brother back in the 60's.......... Wonderful group, Thanks so much for posting! The video is crystal clear!!

  • Honey was a really good drummer! I love this song...so LOUD (!) The stomping is great and that little growl is wonderful!

  • Rather infectious beat. Cool, a female drummer... oh so rare back then! Music videos were so fun!

  • Cool,I didn't know a girl played the drums.GOOD SONG

  • this is actually so good :D

  • these guys were hopped-up on goof-balls..in a good way.
