  • Somehow, he reminds me of Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda movie

  • Easily one of my personal favorite Disney villains. He's an epic badass!

  • boo wahahah

  • Comment removed

  • Superhero Rule #1: Never wear a cape. It will lead to your downfall.

  • Anyone else notice that Shan Yu is the only person in the film who doesn't give Mulan crap for being a girl? He never speaks to her derisively, and tries to kill her with the same seriousness he gives all his male opponents.

  • disney villains w badass voices: 1.Shan-yu; 2.Frollo;3. Scar; 4.Jafar; 5.Sykes

  • SHAN YU is ancestors of Turk-Mongols ! the Huns !

  • Gaston vs Shan-Yu!

  • He has his own theme music!!!!

  • this is an insult to our ancestry and his name is Modun shanyu, the word shanyu=king idiots!

  • When I grow up, I want to have Shan-Yu's voice, but I'll likely never have it.

  • do they have Shan Yu figure ? o3o, cause i would buy them

  • So our school is putting on Mulan as our play and they cast ME as Shan Yu... It'll be fun but, really??

  • I like how at 7:41 the emperor just walks casualy away like "fuck this noise" XD LOL

  • Thats not a man, but a monster!!

Look at what he can do!!! And his power! Hes amazing, but defeatet by fireworks after breaking trough a roof made by wood and stone, only use his head haha xD

  • Am I crazy, or are Shan Yu and his warriors fucking heroes? I mean think about it, his whole army got destroyed in a fucking avalanche and he's left only with a group of five or six guys, and yet HE DOESN'T GIVE UP and goes right at the heart of the Chinese Empire. That, my friends is what it means to be a brave, fucking badass. I can't think of another Disney villain who is as brave and willing to back up his/hers ambitions with actual impressive qualities.

  • Shan-Yu's voice actor = amazing

  • Does anyone find it incredibly amazing that Shan-Yu can have through giant wooden pillars with a single swing of his blade? Or punch through a thick wooden door? Or jump through a wooden roof with stone shingles?

    That man was a BEAST.

  • Did he die?

  • He may not get his own song to sing but he gets a kick ass theme tune. When ever he appears the epic sinister music plays. Troubles afoot.

  • Shan Yu FTW XD!

  • One of my favorite Disney villains :D. He's evil, serious, strong, an excellent commander, unsettling to be around, has a cool dark voice and is all-in-all very awesome ^^. That's why he's one of my favorites ;D.

  • I think that Shan-yu has an epic voice. Thumps up if you agree.

  • YA MISSED!! How could you MISS??? He was THREE FEET in front of you!

  • 'get off the roof, get off the roof, get off the roof' xD

  • ok, you gotta admit that "how many men " bit is just pure badassness.

  • Now, we already know this guy is a bloodthirrsty and psychopatic mass murderer but you gotta admit he's also pure badass

  • Shan Yu is the Chuck Norris of Disney villains.

  • I never noticed how many time the short guy says "come onnnn"

  • 4:42

    "F*ck your avalanche"

  • @TheTeddyZP This guy is pretty f*cking tough if a 500-ton wall of snow coming downhill from a mountain at Mach 9 can't kill him!

  • Boo.

  • ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS THIS IS A WRONG STORY SHANYU RAPED CHINA'S ASS IN THE REAL HISTORY CHINA'S ARE STORY STEALERS !!!!!

  • @boJUwOw You mean Disney altered the history for a good ending.

  • 6:27 Rape Face :D

  • 5:36 SO BADASS!!! :D

  • shan yu was the first guy that made me experience what badass was all about. his bulky figure, those demon eyes, that eagle on his shoulder...BADASS

  • aren't the huns central asian or are they mongolia? cus i heard that the mongols took control of most of asia, middle east, and parts of europe.

  • @bigman1171 IMHO Huns are not direct ancestors of Mongols though lived in Mongolia. There were eastern neighbors of Huns, another nomadic people named Sianbi (Xian-bei). Eventually Huns were defeated by Chinese and its neighbors and moved west to CA and Europe. Remaining power niche was filled by Sianbi. About 100 000 hun families were did not move to west were incorporated into Sianbi empire and mixed with them. Thus huns are partial ancestors of Mongols.

  • @sns21274 There's a popular theory that the Huns who later attacked Europe are descended from a specific tribe of Mongolians, the tribe Shan Yu was from.

  • villain wtf he is a hero

  • Shan Yu indeed represents a rare breed as a Disney villain. He's not funny, stylistic, foppish, absurdly narcissistic, or quirky. He's cold, ruthless, sadistic, & most dangerous of all... damn efficient at what he does. Maleficent & the Horned King were scary given their supernatural abilities, but Shan Yu (like Frollo) is frightening because there's something so real about his evil.

Most Disney villains at worst, hurt people as part of a scheme. Shan Yu slaughtered a village because he could.

  • He is so villainous he could eat Captain Hook for dessert

  • @kbatraful09 And then he'd devour Hades for seconds......FLAMBE STYLE

  • at 2:44 i'd be slowly dippin' out like a bitch.

  • @sns21274 Part of the huns came from mongolia

  • He seriously freaked me out more than any of the other ones.

  • YOU MISSED!!! HOW COULD YOU MISS HE WAS THREE FEET IN FRONT OF YOU!!?

  • I like how he forehand slices through some 3 foot thick wood pillars with a fucking sword...what a badass

  • Shan Yu is a badass.

  • 7:42

The Emperor just casually walks away.

  • Shan Yu and his men are perhaps the most realistic and serious of the Disney villains. there is absolutely nothing comical about their looks, their personalities, or the way they talk. They are straight-up warriors and soldiers. The only thing that is comical is how the falcon suddenly becomes a chicken. Other than that, Shan Yu and his boys are bad-ass to the core.

  • @TheSamvadar

That, and Frollo as well, from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Frollo is also one of my most favourite Disney villains, along with Sham-Yu. Like Shan-Yu, he's cold and seroius to the core. He's someone that instills fear and we know straight from the get-go that we don't want to cross him.

  • @TheSamvadar

Oh, and by the way, on a little side ntoe, the guy who voices the Emperor is the guy who was the Karate master in Karate Kid.

  • @pinheadman665 cool

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSamvadar Frollo is

  • @Omoraru i know

  • @TheSamvadar Don't forget Sykes from Oliver and Company; he's extremely realistic as well. I'd say both Shan-Yu and Sykes are the two most realistic villains, which of course makes them so evil.

  • @TheSamvadar you forget frollo he is most realistic but yeah the huns come close second

  • @Artanis99 good point

  • Shan Yu is probably my second favorite Disney Villian

    Hades is first.

  • so evil he doesnt even need his own song

  • @dirkthewrench And bad ass!!! >:D

  • @killer92173 that too

  • @dirkthewrench lmao

  • What is up with Shan Yu, he has black eyes, sharp nails and pointed teeth, he doesn't look so human.

  • @armanias That's what they're trying to convey.

  • This man has a naaaaasty sense of humor.

  • Clayton from Tarzan wanted to get pelts for money...

    Jafar wanted to rule Agrabah...

Ursula was jealous of beauty and talent

    Shan-Yu just felt like invading a nation...BADASS!

  • Shan-Yu is so evil he has no white in his eyes and his hawk has slits for pupils..

    I'd say he's a pretty epic villian :)

  • so a falcon without feathers is a chicken?

  • Gotta love Shan-Yu's voice, cold and ruthless, hehehe... awesome.

  • I wonder how come that PAPER fan that milan used didn't get cut by that STEEL sword Shan-Yu was using. Moreover, I'm semi-confident that Shan-Yu's overall arm strength is more than Mulans, yet she manages to wrench it out of his hands. Oh Disney.

  • @greener144 Most probably they were going for a general "technique vs. raw strenght" when depicting the entire conflict betwen the hun and Chinas imperial army. So Mulan and Shan-yu became embodiments of those same principles, hence she is able to match him by diverting his superior strenght with superior technique.

  • Sorry, in my opinion one of the lamest Disney villain ever

  • @LordZaamus

    How so?

  • I love how at 7:41 the emperor just kinda walks off screen XD

  • You know he could have just take a step to the left to avoid the rocket but whatever..

  • You missed! how could you miss? HE WAS THREE FEET INFRONT OF YOU! XD

  • 7:41 Emperor be trollin'

  • 9:51 Get off the roof Get off the roof Get off the roof Get off the roof!

  • 8:46 i love how Mulan put on her shoes before running away.

  • Shan Yu has got to be one of the coolest villains Disney has ever made. He is like Genghis Khan and Attila the Hun rolled int to one bad-ass.

  • One of the most bad ass Disney villains.

  • I am from Kazakhstan & huns are my ancentors!! turkic & mongolic people forever

  • @Askar9992 Arent the Huns = Mongolians, very different from Turkish/Hungarians.

  • @AsianAlaskan Turkic & mongolic people are from same origin... hungarians & turkish people have nothing to do with asian huns... they were asians

  • @Askar9992 Personally, I think that you know how for "white" people, there are all different kinds/regions/historic backgrounds. For "Asian looking" people, there are Tibetans, Mongolians, certain islanders, and eskimos in Alaska look quite like Asians too. Even northern/southern chinese people look very different

  • @AsianAlaskan yes, asians look very different!! it's europeans look same, for example, for me, there is no differences between germans & russians, they look same... but I clearly see differences between malaysians & mongols

  • 7:33 emperor: " u mad ? "

  • 4:42 They popped out of the snow! LIKE DAISIES!!!!!!

  • Get off the roof! Get off the roof! GET OFF THE ROOF!

  • This dude is SUCH a bamf!!! :D

  • if it wasnt for that imagenary dragon she would be dead

  • I FREAKING LUV SHAN YU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • idk, his character design was really intimidating but then he had this weird white commercial announcer voice. It wasn't completely unfitting but it just never matched with his scary ass look

  • Those guys at 5:13 must be freezing lol, without their coats on

  • the mongols totaly raped the chinese during that time

  • @Valuablebraathen568 the mongols... and the huns...

  • We should return it to her... (evil glare) when i was a kid this guy was the baddest bad guy in disney

  • Did anyone else just realize that the dragon is Eddie Murphy

  • man, modun shanyu makes me so frickiin proud of my hunnic nomad ancestors, thumbs up if u are a mongol, turk, hungarian or anyone originated from the huns...

  • he is the ultimate badass, i wana be like him..

  • Dudes a fuckin tank. As a kid I wasn't scared of him I was just like man this guy is awesome.

  • Shan Yu has some of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen

  • 7:09 How was he using a bannana to... DEAR GOD I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT!

  • I'm being honest, when I lsaw this as a little girl, the drawing style of this movie inspired me to draw

  • Transvestites vs Hun super soldiers AND GO!!

  • Shan yu is like megatron!

  • @TheMadhouse90 Really? Hes the biggest narcissist in Disney Animation.

  • This guy is fucked up, he is scary, most disney villains have comic side or they look funny like Ursula,or have some stupid assistant like Iago, but this guy..his eyes voice behavior..scary shit.

  • Shan-yu doesn't seem as appreciated as most other Disney Villains like Gaston, Hades, and Jafar.

Maybe he should have gotten his own musical number.

  • "Besides, the little girl will be missing her doll. We should return it to her."

    holy crap man!

  • i like Shan-Yu

  • Shan yu is a good guy!

He looks like a old hungarian tribal leader, but too tall :)

    Greetings from hungary

  • @dankabal and if i were mulan i would join khan army because women can be warriors too

unlike chinese ,they dont oppress women with gender roles

  • Shan-Yu was kind of hot o.O but he didn't look entirely human...

  • 4:42..i remember that scared the shit out of me when i was a kid

  • "List of members for YOUR evil-army- to-conquer-the-world"

-The cruel horned King and his army of undead.

-The merciless Shan-Yu and his horde of huns.

-The evil Scar and his hyenas

    -The monstrous judge Frollo, alone.

    --Hades and the Titans

-Malef -Wait wait wait....Ok,my mistake, change the list name.

"Competition in world domination you gotta get rid off before making YOUR evil-army- to-conquer-the-world"

  • Man I'd love to see that mountain attack on the big screen today x3

  • 2:46 Team balance patch required!!!

  • 5:10, how does that guy survive in the snow without a shirt on?

  • @spoctopus2 practice. Lots of it

  • @spoctopus2

The Huns were regularly known for being nomadic (basically, they lived off the land mostly). That's why they had heightened senses (like when they're examining the doll). I think that due to their nomadic lifestyle, they'd have a bit more endurance ot the cold as well.

  • SHAN-YU WOULD HAVE RIPPED MULAN TO PIECES IF IT WAS REALITY!!!!

  • Shan Yu is most ruthless Disney villain in the history of Disney.

He's so cool and so evil!

  • Shan-Yu is my favorite Disney Villains because I perfeir the villains that are Fighters, Martial Artists, Barbarians,& Brutes.

Like Bane & Ra's al ghul from Batman, Sabretooth, Deadpool, Juggernaut, & Mystique from X-Men, Green Goblin from Spiderman, Cell & Broly from DBZ, & Him.

  • I LOVE SHAN YU ! BEST DISNEY VILLAIN EVER !

  • Scar, Ursulla, Jafar, Maleficent & Captain Hook we're good. But this Disney Villain is Better !

  • Besides,The little girl will be missing her doll. We should return it to her.

    EPIC LINE !!!

  • I like men who roar... and agile like a cat :)

  • Most badass disney characters. Hes asian too xD

  • @stathisdj You mean Hades?

  • Shan Yu = Tai Lung

    Any takers?

    ^^

  • Shan Yu was a beast of a man!

  • I like Shan-Yu's falcon.

  • I maintain to this day the only reason I ever watched Mulan was for Shan-Yu.

  • I'm pretty sure Disney mixed up the Huns and the Mongols.

  • @evilemperordude

Mongols were a part of the Huns.

  • I liked fighting him in Kingdom Hearts II even if he was easy.

  • 8:54 the chicken's voice- scavenger sound from Gothic game

  • Yay! i was a hun in my play!

  • so hot, can't stand it. if anyone knows someone who looks like shan yu let me know.

  • How many men does it take to deliver a message?

    .....One

    SO FREAKING EPIC

  • @Anime4Life35

You know i never noticed this as a kid.

But from the looks of it,

he kills one of them with the arrow.

you know, til it got cut away, maybe it was a clip.

But got censored by disney, i mean just look at 1:24

    :)

  • @TheAbridgedGamer Despite their reputation with "disney death", alot of Disneys movies have pretty high body counts. Remember when Hades released the Titans? That sequence alone must have devestated several citys. The only thing is they never SHOW the deaths.

  • this villain is scary as hell!

  • Am I the only one who has a MAJOR lesboner for Mulan?

  • 2:26 I LOVE that scene, where the Huns come pouring down from the mountainside, armed and on horseback, 20,000 plus strong, and Mulan has MAYBE 200 soldiers with her. And Shang says, kill Shan Yu. NUT! FATALIST!

    P. S. Sorry Shang . . .

  • I respected Shan Yu when I was younger due to the fact that he wasn't at all shocked that a girl managed to kill most of his army and that he refers to her as, "The soldier from the mountains", instead of, "A girl?" When he said that the look on his face was fear instead of confusion and that's when I knew he was an honorable leader.

  • @SeanDnB5 Indeed.

  • @SeanDnB5 i agree but they make my ancesters look so ugly lol i think Shan Yu is my 28th great uncle

  • @SeanDnB5

I noticed, for me, that it was mroe shock, then quickly replaced by murderous rage.

  • @pinheadman665 Yeah definitely haha. Either way he was my favorite villain next to Scar and Rasputin.

  • 9:57

    byebye XD

  • 1:23

did he kill one of the guys at that scene?

    {don't write 'captain obvious', i never saw this movie}

  • @MovieguruThe

The scene cuts out just like that, implying the guy gets killed but not explicitly showing it.

  • "Stop me? He invited me. By building his wall he challenged my strength, well im here to play his game. Go! Tell your emperor to send his strongest army...Im Ready." epic

  • To the one who disliked this video

"You missed the like button! How could you miss the like button? He was three feet in front of you!"

  • I remember watching this with my dad some years back. He didn't know what the villain's name was, so he assumed it was Attila. When he said that, I cried out "THE HUN!"

Nowadays whenever I hear Attila's name, I invariably yell out mentally THE HUN!!!

  • @zydarking Atilla lived hundreds of years and THOUSANDS of miles from where this stroy takes place, central and northern China. Like saying Argentina is the U. S. A.

  • @ARP7777777 Lol, I know that. It's just that in the modern mind, the term Hun either conjures up images of Attila's hordes ravaging anything & everything in sight, or the quintessential German soldier of the last two Wars. S'all.

  • Wow...it takes one HELL of a woman to charge off alone toward an entire army of muscle-bound, power-hungry men, with only a cannon and a sword for protection.

  • they rose up like from the dead o.o

  • "How many men does it take to deliver a message?" "One."

  • "Stop me? D: ..he invited me" >)

  • What a horrible death! O_o

  • "Perfect."

  • "Nice work gentlemen, you've found the Hun army." That line gave me goosebumps when I was a boy.

He easily is one of the most frightening Disney villains.
