"Cheez Wiz", is fine for making party dips, but for cheese steaks, I'll stick with real cheese, like provolone, or cheddar.

Okay... American cheese will do, in a serious crisis situation.

Besides, hot "Cheez Wiz" turns liquid, and runs out all over your hand, with every bite. All that wiping-off distracts from the cheese steak experience.. *L*

I drove 5 hrs to try the famous Pat's and Geno cheese steak. Got one from each place and was very disapointed. It wasnt even as good as they claimed it to be, and the server was very rude. I could've gotten better cheese steak in boston. Although, between the two, I have to say Geno's was better. Pat's cheese steak was cold and the cheese wasn't even melted. Huge disapointment.

For example, let's say you want provolone and no onions. You would say, "provolone witout." Or if you want cheese whiz with onions. You would say "whiz wit."

However, I've become a Tony Luke's convert.

Others here have posted about Chink's - I don't know where they are - I wouldn't mind giving them a try.

I guess you have never been to philly lol. The line is so long down the street sometimes it stops traffic. This cheesesteak place is open 24 / 7. If you go at 3am there is still a long line!!! They have to crank them out as fast as possible...its an experience...

They have to crank them out fast cuz the place is meant for fast service. I'm used to this style of service though, no time for chit chat just get your stuff and go. Some places in Chicago won't serve you ketchup on a hot dog because it ruins the dog.

Philly hoagies and cheese steaks cant be beat at all. and dont forget the corner vendors where you get the sausages and hot dogs and keilbsa on a hogie roll with mustard from the carts on the corners. and yes cant forget the pretzels
