@XNeoGeroX IV is a later form of the numeral used in the middle ages. The original form of 4 in Roman numerals was IIII. And since Castlevania is from Romania and was around before the change, it still uses the then archaic form.
The Japanese version of this boss is much better. He actually bleeds blood instead of cum, lol, and when you beat him his scythe flies up and comes back down but instead of just burning up his head gets cut off.
You need the key in Stage 3. Keep it through Stage 4 and rescue Maria. Continue to keep it until you reach a door a little later on. DO NOT DIE IN STAGE 4 OR THE KEY IS LOST.
