  • Okay!

  • its a good video...informative! Fun to hear what the man has to say. But this is an expensive piece of gear as you still need the amp...Plus what the hay? You got a pretty nice pre amp already in one of the MM bass guitars which I think are about the best basses out there for the money..You can't touch em. unless you look at a the fine boutiques to get something as good.

  • Okay? Okay.

  • @psylent777 okay!

  • Brilliant translation of sound into words.

  • maby its a fail to leave EBS....

  • now thats a bass players vioce

  • Very good !!

  • Has anyone on her actually tried this preamp out? I'm looking to get one soon..

  • @bmigga ya a friend of mine has it and he says its KILLER...totally worth it

  • This is a very informative video, and will translate to any Amp/preamp. Very good instruction from a very good bassist.

  • Is everybody seeing what I'm seeing? At 3:00 it shows him playing an SWR Power 1500. Where can I get one of these? Never heard of them!

  • @bmigga never mind the power 1500!! I cant even get hold of the 750 :(

  • "its bassey......but its not like......woofy woofy"

  • what is that song in the beginning!? it's sooo cool!!

  • What an awesome guy

  • "u dont want to over do it because it'll give people haircut.".. XD

  • Yes he uses Swr cabinet now.

  • do you have to run this with a head or can you buy just the pre-amp and the cabs

  • @speratic1984 You need a poweramp in order for this thing to make some noise.

  • Looks like, Marcus is just using this Preamp, no normal Amp, after that.

  • great, hanks man

    ¡¡¡¡¡

  • nice¡¡¡¡¡i would like to know the name of the song at the beginning of the video, please reply.

  • Marcus Miller: "Blast" from the album "Free"

  • Do you mind giving me one of those?

  • Not a game, we here talkin' bout practice man! OK?

  • He says "ok" every 3 seconds...but is the best by the way!

  • OK !!!!!

  • $1,000? a little overpriced

  • @PhuckHue2

    - to have nice, great sounding stuff basically all of its going to cost quite a bit. :)

  • its overkill. all those classic tracks Marcus made in the 80's his bass was plugged directly into the board. Jaco plugged in directly too. I think those fancy preamps alters the natural tone of the bass too much

  • exactly they plugged it into the preamp on the mixing consol which could have been ssl, api, neve or some other high end board with high end preamps, which probably also had high end eq, its nice to have a pre designed for a certain frequency area.

  • hey wats the song at the beginning of the vid?

  • the song is called "blast". it's on his latest album called "marcus".

  • what is a preamp`?? please answer :D

  • essentially the part with all the controls used to shape tone.

  • "That can do some real damage when turned loud"

    That was fucking metal.

  • if you like to hear this pre-amp..I own one and have posted some vidz using it...hey, i aint Marcus Miller..but, if you like to see how it works...with my Fender ( Victor Bailey model) bass...check it. i am just a bassist....again, i aint jaco or that...but it maybe cool to see how this gear works for the normal player..cheers.

  • Just checked them out. They sound great, but I was hoping for a review of the preamp and some tweaking to show it off, you know?

Anyway, thanks for letting us hear a MM pre in the real world, that was useful too.

  • I agree..it wasnt meant to be a review, just thought i would say that I am using the gear in my video...I think Marcus does a fine job for showing it off...but, its a good idea to have just a 'regular' player...showing how they can use it. So, I will hopefully load up one..and just show how I use it maybe in the studio..i have some recording dates coming up..cheers mate.

  • what a very cool jumper =]

  • I hope one day i'll have enough money to buy it! Right??

  • if you like modern bass tones like Marcus, this is probably the best unit on the market today...I tried it with an SWR power amp 750 , an Aguilar 4x12 and a marcus jazz bass...wow!!!! highly recommended.

  • oh man, the hair cut joke

that caught off guard, and now im falling off my seat haha!

  • Is there a crossover on it? I run a Bi-amp rig and am seriously interested in this. It might be time to say bye bye to the Trace :(

  • yeah, dont you just hate replacing gear you've used for a long time :(

  • how much is this?

  • about $900, i believe. i haven't seen any at guitar center, but i've read about it in Bass Player and they're on Musicians Friend

  • you don't wanna overdo that, cuz it'll give people haircuts.

  • AAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

  • @tortillachip520 LOL yeah that made me laugh out loud! I think this is a preamp I've been looking for. Looks brilliant!

  • They should have close mic'd it

  • Or direct out considering it's being marketed as a preamp

  • Is he using SWR cabinet now?

I heard that he uses EBS...

  • yes, he offically is a swr endorser has his own cabs and preamp

  • @keita0000papa Thats victor wooten

  • @keita0000papa yeah he uses EBS cabs..

  • I bought one of these preamps and I dig it. You can hear it recorded on my youtube channel.

Only three of the five EQ bands are semi-parametric, and they have a narrower Q than the other two bands.

  • ok. this is a super cool tool , but, i don't know how sound the distorted sound? but, super cool SWR / Marcus collaboration...

  • Awesome, awesome tone

  • OK. I give up what does the hat say?

    M......AIDER

  • RAIDER

  • RAIDER doesn't start with M.

  • Is this Full or semi parametic?

  • I guess you'd call it a 5 band semi parametric EQ

  • ah, thanks.

full parametric is pointless for bass.

  • Agreed. But I think that Full parametric is pointless for any instrument. You only need the Q for consoles.

  • what about in the recording studio?

if you REALLY want your sound a certin way.

  • ..hey check out me using the Marcus Miller Pre-amp...cheers

  • Comment removed

  • What happened to this video of BLAST??!!!!! I can't find it anymore.

  • Marcus was the SWR sound...I'm glad he went back to SWR.

  • how many watts is it, or since it is just a preamp, do you also need a power amplifier?

  • yeah just a pre-amp, so u'll have direct outs/line outs to go to a power amp. though you only need a simple one (with maybe just one output level control, so it would cost far less than an amp with eq and other controls.

some people may say you need a 'bass' power amp (that's designed to handle the low frequencies) but you can run it into any power amp as long as you run it on fairly low volumes.

  • ...I now have a M2 pre-amp SWR....This is the machine......sex machine !! very hip and has great practical tone shaping features and the compression rocks !! cheers...

  • i love how he describes half the setting on this

  • Yeahhhhhhhh.......Marcus Miller............

  • wasn't he using EBS for a couple of years? oh whatever I'm happy he's back with SWR

  • I think SWR pays him more money

  • i believe he still uses EBS cabs. which are fabulous cabs, and blow most of SWR's cabs out of the water

  • Yes !!! And Fender !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hand made Bass is The best ,not Fender not SWR and Tikitiki .

    Music is Music

Fender Marshall SWR ,Peavey and and .......is not all in Music World .

  • boo peavy.

  • thankz marcuz iz good!!

  • ok!!! Marcus Ok!!!

  • hahahh OKAY!

  • ok! right!

    :D

  • ok?

  • The name of the track is "Blast". It's the

1st song on his latest album titled "Marcus".

  • somebody tell me what's the name the track he plays in the begining.....

  • thanks marcus!

  • Sounds like Marcus tuned his bass down a half step.

  • "OK"

  • Right. OK!

    Right. OK!

    :D

  • A true master of his craft and good to see SWR and Fender both using his experience and understanding from a players perspective to create product. Been a Marcus fan for a long time but Eden's WP100 is pretty much this preamp and more for number of years now. Good to see the Eden now has something genuinely comparable.

  • hell i'll take one!

  • want

  • Rush are not great :P

  • This guy is f*cking great, 'right??' ^_^

    ( the preamp too C_c' )

  • where is the power amp? how can it work if he doesn't have a power amp hooked up to it?

  • its a direct out

  • Wow. Smart to put this on YouTube... I'm wantin' one of these like nobody's business!

And man, look "cool" up in the dictionary and there is a picture of Marcus, I swear.

  • カッコイイ!!

    欲しいです!このまま市販されるんですか?

    ぼくの周りのベーシストにも教えなきゃ♪

  • damm, thats cool, $900 i heard

  • How much does this cost????

  • I need one right now.

    It sounds great!

  • True, though Marcus would probably sound great thru anything

  • nice vid, and nice to hear how articulate marcus really is. BUT, what in the mother is up with the god awful bass sounds? was it that hard to take a direct out from the preamp itself, so marcus doesnt sound like a loon explaining what each knob does. swr... really?

  • sick preamp, sick tunes... what more shall i say?

  • really cool promotion!!
