Yamaha DX1 Vintage Keyboard FM Synthesizer DX 1

140 Yamaha DX1's made and not a single lucky handler of this beast who posts to YT can play it well D: i wish synths would try to escape their owners when they have no skill or at least imagination with the sounds. I understand this is an ebay ad but its a damn shame to hear a ultra rare holy-grail esque DX synth played with such ineptitude :/ it gives a terrible impression of this instrument.

One thing I will say about this line of synthesizers especially the DX 1 etc...was they were built like tanks, today they'd be made of cheap plastic for a shelf life of only a few years.

This guy had to either inherit it , or got it in an estate sale from someone that had no clue what it was.

It doesn't sound like he has much experience with it.

Right now it would be difficult for me to afford.

I'll just be happy with my KX88 and a couple of TX-816's and DMP-11 mixers.

Never ever sell your Yamaha DX-1, I know a few people that did that and regretted. There is only made, they list for over $10,000.00 and as high $12,000.00. Mine is not for sale.

This synthesizer is superb, but I believe you forgot the modulation wheel turned on whan you tried the sounds.

I remember Reinhold Heil from the german band "Spliff" had a DX1. A large and heavy machine. In 1984 Synthesizerstudio Bonn in Germany offered it for 26.450 DM compared to the DX7 for 3.790 DM. In my opinion this was the expensivest

thing Yamaha ever made.
