hi dr neil can u talk about the new sunscreens its liquid, water resistant non greasy with zero white marks so its transparent on the skin. do you suggest u put it on the skin first then moisturise or d other way round.
I cleanse and moisturize and that's it. Toner burns my skin and dries it out. I have tried many brands and they all burn. I have dry skin and if I start toning, I get dry flaky skin. I gave up and just use cleanser. Works well for me. I don't know why we should use the same products all the time, or why the steps need to be in one particular order though.
@goode2shuz1 A doctor told me once that if I wanted results for my skin, I should keep a similar routine and do it for a long time. That way the skin gets used to the products and can respond the way the products were tested to be. Consistency is the key. Its like a science experiments. when you do a lab or experiment and testing different hypothesis you want to do everything in the same order so you know nothing was contaminated or there is no changing variable except the one you want to change
@Victorian9322 I do the same thing lol! I've always used toner after exfoliation because I considered my scrub as part of the cleansing step...I don't know whether it is good to use toner twice (after cleanser and then after exfoliant), I prefer to use it once and from now on right after cleanser instead of exfoliant...
@BlackLily888 I don't think he's saying Dont ever change your cleanser ever again. cuz thats kind of impossible. I think what hes saying is dont change it too often, let your skin get used to a routine. For your skin to get results, you need to use it consistently and for a significant amount of time. Also, if your cleanser is doing what you want it to and are satisfied, there's really no reason as to changing it unless you just wanted to try something different.
@123akify I don't think that's what he meant :) I think you can use more than one cleanser as long as you prepare your skin the same way morning and evening...so one cleanser in the morning and the other in the evening...And changing products during the year is not bad either, provided that you give your skin the time to accustom to your new products...the important thing is to follow a skincare routine night and day, without skipping or inverting the steps or changing products too often...
@123akify I think hes saying as long as you repeat those steps and use those two products consistently morning and night and its working for you just keep on doing it :D
What does a toner do? I've heard mixed things about them. Some people say that toner does nothing for your skin and others say that you should never go without it.
@Sa015Ra exfoliating your skin 2-3x a week. this removes the dead cells and allows new skin cells to regrow. But of course, for acne scars to fade, it can take weeks so you have to be patient :) hope that helped
Reading these comments on your videos, I can't believe people believe in all of these skin care myths- I love your videos because they either remind me of what I already know or tell me something new- Thank You! =D
@Sa015Ra Fresh papaya masks help, turmeric powder helps, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar. These are some natural remedies that can help. as for chemical products im not sure, never had luck w/ em.
I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE TRUSTING MICHELLE PHAN AND THE FOWLER SISTERS WITH SKINCARE ADVICE, U GOT A PROFESSIONAL RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Mushman15 i agree with you....i m not even subscribed to those ppl....lol....I watche youtube videos to get my skin back in shape....and watching dermtv helps a lot....
@Mushman15 well lets see they are idiots if they do that. We know that they are not dermatologist not even doctors etc so they advices have to be handle with gloves.I mean you can no trust them 100% not because they are bad people but because they are not doctors. They just love makeu up and they can tell you some beauty tricks that they have heard and that they try and if you like it or you think it can work then you try it but what there is here in youtube it is a lot of ignorance and stupidity
@missandix yeah what's the rationale behind it? isn't it true that we have to mix up our routine once in a while before our skin get accustomed/ immune to them?
@missandix The reason for that type of redundancy and habit (I imagine) is to to get the same results and effectiveness of your chosen skincare regimen on all parts/ areas of your face. For almost anything in life (I think), you need to stick to doing certain things with a set of rules, discipline, organization and patience. Doing those things in a particular way with a set time and good "follow-through" will guarantee max. results for a longer period of time.

no real information here...
Clean your skin before applying products. Really?
it's only natural to apply the product in the same manor each day. It's called a routine.
Don't need ten plus years of post secondary ed for this info?
Nice lab coat though...

Hello Dr.
What do you think of using Benzaclin on backacne? Also, what do you think about using a chemical peel on backacne?
Does it work? any side effects?
Thank you!! :)

I have a question. Why does it have to be for the same amount of time every time you cleanse your face or apply product. How does that help?

sp00kii 1 year ago
@sp00kii Toner has multiple use. It restores your skin to its nomal pH, removes any leftover oil/makeup
different toners contain different ingredients
for ex. witchhazel, has anti bacterial properties that may be useful for someone with overly oily skin who tends to break out alot.
