He left his position as sports director at WVUE TV to become the Zephyrs (AAA professional baseball team) radio color analyst in the mid 1990s and he still is on their broadcast, but only for home games. Besides his radio duties, he has an official position with the organization, either media relations or the main contact person for getting Zephyrs personnel to be guest speakers at events.

He left in the mid 90s ( just a little bit before Mora resigned from Saints) to go work for the Zephyrs, the AAA baseball team that moved from Denver because of MLB expansion with the Rockies. Swoboda can be heard doing color commentary for the Zephyrs radio broadcasts in New Orleans
