  • I know this is an old video -- but I thought I would post a thought for you.

If you read the book Gut and Psychology Syndrome you will find it is a variation of the SCDiet. It often times results in greater healing of the bowel. It begins with an Introduction Diet. The Intro diet is key.

If you were to do the Intro Diet for a couple of months and then very slowly add in the almond flour you would probably tolerate it well.

  • @thehotavocado the Gut and Psychology Syndrome diet will introduce more healthy bacteria in your gut. Until you have enough beneficial bacteria you will continue to have occasional problems. The diet is just like SCD, but slightly more strict.

Also, almond flour has a lot of fiber and that is why you're having issues. But coconut flour is also high in fiber. The gut can't tolerate the fiber until you have resolved the inflammation. The Intro Diet will do that. It may take months. but worth it

  • I have some recipes that use coconut flour on my blog (you can find it on my channel page, since YouTube doesn't allow URLs in comments), including some that use coconut flour in combination with almond flour. I use coconut oil a lot in my recipes. I also recommend checking out "Cooking with Coconut Flour" by Dr. Bruce Fife, N.D.

Thanks for subscribing to my channel, btw! :)

  • Dont change almond flour for coconut. Coconut flour absorbs lots of water. ur mixture will be extremely hard to stir and will taste awful. Stick with coconut flour recipes. I found a honey coconut scd recipe on zscupoftea blog

  • @moonprincess3331 I totally wish I read my messages before I started baking lol! I somehow managed to fix my cake. Not bad for a first try and not knowing what I was doing lol! I checked out that blog, its pretty nifty, I might try that next :)

  • You could also try hazelnut flour, though its pricey. like 11 dollars for 1 pound. You could try coconut ice cream as well but it uses a sweetener you may not be able to have like agave er something like that. I remember u said ur not supposed to have gatorade but u drink it anyway w no problems so maybe u cud eat these too. Luna and larrys makes good coconut ice cream as well as Turtle Mountain. They have websites you can look at to check ingredients.

  • @moonprincess3331 Ooh! that ice cream sounds amazing! I have an ice cream maker though :) I think I'll try to make my own with yogurt and the coconut spread that I bought.

  • lots of coconuts sounds good. try to make a coconut shake.

  • @lavaboy23 yea! coconut shake! Great idea :)

  • one question, do you ever eat rice? just curious to what experiences you hav had , if any with eating rice,

  • @mylifeblog2010 I grew up eating rice, but after being on the SCDiet, I haven't had rice in years. I'm not sure what would happen to me if I ate it again. Probably something bad :P

  • @fernpixel well I was just wondering because, i do eat rice occasionally, just white or fried rice, not seasoned or anything, and it doesnt seem to be that bad on be, especially when im in remission, I ate rice almost everyday for long periods of time, maybe try a little somtime and see what effect it has.

  • hm coconut flour, thats new to me, let me know how it goes, I have ordered almond flour in the past, and usually it does upset me also if I eat it often, so yea , let me know how it goes.

  • @mylifeblog2010 Just like you, I think almond flour doesn't agree with me. I start to get symptoms every time after I try. The same thing happens after I try coffee and I loooove coffee! But I can't have it anymore.

I tried the coconut flour already, I'm going to have a follow-up on my blog sometime later this week :)

  • Hey, I always watch your videos! You've got to follow a fellow sufferer of colitis and I really found you to be a complete inspiration and a help to know that I wasn't the only person suffering with colitis. And although it seems like your going through a rough patch it will get better :) chin up! :D lol thanks

  • @GordonWilliamManson aww thank you so much! I'm very flattered and happy I can help. I guess at times like these, I need to find inspiration too :)

  • Hey heres a good way to use that coconut oil make some scrambled eggs and instead of using butter use the coconut oil, the taste is so amazing.

  • @pauliewalnutzz Whoa! I totally need to try this!! Thank you so much! coconut eggs!!

  • @fernpixel Let me know how it came out :)

  • @pauliewalnutzz I finally got to try it and its amazing! The scrambled eggs that I made came out so fluffy. I like the hint of sweet coconut :) Thanks!

  • @fernpixel lol good to hear. thanks :)
