if the bible is just one among hundreds of obviously stupid myths then why aren't all the other myths believed by so many people?...jsut this one myth?
or is it just your so smart? or is it you've evolved?
Because obviously an all knowing god couldn't predict how a calender would form in the future. What a pathetic excuse. And lots of myths are still believed by delusional people like yourself all around the world, christianity isn't the only one.
even if it wasnt in use, god could say it would end in 2067 years or something, or at least use the calander that was used at the time, you cant just say in the distant future this will happen, thats not how it works, i can do that, here:

I love it how creationists deny the obvious fact of evolution, then they claim that evolution happened at a ridiculously fast rate after Noah's ark, but refuse to call it evolution.
Was the Noah thing just a stupid test? I mean God doesn't need to have man save the animals or even himself. He could just start all over again - or at least with the animals. Ah, arguing mythology.
Obviously if the god had the power to create the universe he could start over. But the more troubling question to me is if he gave us free will what right does he have to kill all but one family because we didn't turn out the way he wanted. That's kinda fucked up.
Wow, after that comment, I've converted to christianity. You're so damn smart darkfoster22!!! How could I ever have doubted you. This will be your one and only warning.
JimmyChiffels, your account says your one interest is 'Listening to music 24/7'. Seems like you have even less time for real life than anyone else around here.
Why? Are you planning a holocaust against the non-religious to take after the most famous christian of all time? That's Hitler btw in case you didn't know.
You should try learning about physics. When there is that much water, it increases pressure in the atmosphere, and there is far more water in the air because of diffusion. This super dense, and moist air will drown your lungs. I'm not a physicist, so I'm not going to pretend to know how to fully explain it to you, but that is the simplified version of how it happens. Are we done being insulting little douche bags now?
So you're also astoundingly ignorant of climatology.... Sad.
The 100% humidity rating is relative to the climate, 100% humidity in New Mexico is nowhere near 100% humidity in Florida. And humidity doesn't increase atmospheric pressure. Please do some research before making another stupid comment.
lol at 3:01 you talk about how its ridiculous that different species can come from just a pair. well its ridiculous that you think we come from monkeys and primordial ooze
Except you're putting restrictions on it that normal evolution doesn't have. Namely, two animals that have already evolved to a far extent, and 4000 years to work with. Whereas in evolution we work with the ACTUAL amount of time available from the first life, approx 3 billion years, and an abundance of organisms with high genetic variability.
As far as noahs ark , I view it as a miracle . I believe it was Gods will for it all to work . All noah had to d owas listen to the instructions and God took care of the impossible , just like with Moses with the red sea being split .
That's fine that you believe that, just don't expect for anyone to respect that belief as far as theory goes. As long as you don't try to propogate it as fact and force it into science classrooms you can believe whatever you wish!
Google "ring species" it is a very interesting phenomenon. It also demonstrates subtle evolution that we can study in a human life time. Imagine what happens to a ring species after millions of years. Good rebuttal video Andrewrberkshire.
When will Christians realize that we get our evidence from scientific journals and heavily criticized academic sources. My buddy is a physics grad student working on his PHD and his professor is writing a college text book. My buddy has done some work on this and they scrutinized his work viciously. The same with Academic Journals. When you submit an academic paper it is reviewed by others in the field and scrutinized. If you lie your career is over. Creationists just make stuff up.
There's a damn good reason why creationists get fired all the time. When you get caught making shit up you pay the consequences! Thanks for the comment!
Well it's not that they get fired all the time, because many of their jobs are secure... Like Ken Ham. They take millions of dollars from Christians who are grasping for answers that match their world view. Many of these people do not have a college education so they have no Idea whether they are being lied to or not. No one has been fired from the Discovery Institute even after the embarrassing (to creationists) Dover ID trial.
I think what he/she was referring to is some of the creationists who've been fired in academia. Like the guy who snuck one of Dembski's papers into a peer reviewed journal before it had been peer reviewed. When those science terrorists get caught I'm glad their fired. People like that don't deserve tenure at respected universities.
No, I was simply making a point of the same kind can have various variations between themselves. Lets try this then...say some douchebag theorizes we all have a common ancestor (wonder who I'm talking about...). Then scientists who SUBSCRIBE to his 'theory' find human, ape, orangutan, and other variants ALL currently living. He might assume they are all related due to their apparent bipedal similarities. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. What they find are just long extinct ape variants. Wow
Lets try this then... say some douchebag writes a story about a radical jew who got crucified and rose again(Paul). Then a bunch of anonymous radicals write different versions of the story and in a shady convention 300 years later the gospels are heavily edited and 4 are chosen to represent the official canon. Church burns all books that disagree with this story and almost 2000 years late 1 billion people are still fooled by this fairy tale for grown-ups. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. Wow.
When Darwin's theory came out, EVERYONE tried to knock it down. Nobody "subscribed" to it at first. That's how science works. So, misconception number 1.
Second, humans were classified as "apes" in the 1700s, well before Darwin was born. By a Christian creationist. Linnaeus.
So. We're all apes. Humans share a common ancestor with chimps but we didn't come "from" chimps. And Neanderthals weren't "human".
dude get out there be active make friends make something of yourself instead of making videos wasting all your time. of course if you have free time.. you can but.. I think u got too much free time.
people have got to quit reffering to wikipedia as a reliable source , its crazy how many people believe everything they read on there . you have no clue who posted it .
Technically wikipedia has tightened up in the last 6 months as far as editing the entries. If you edit something on science without references to legitemate sources it's removed within an hour. There will always be errors in a public controlled encyclopedia, but for this purposes, and for the vague things I used it for it served it's purpose and the articles were spot on. It's just easier for some people to read a couple wikipedia entries than 15 academic journals ya know?
Like I said child, SIZE means nothing. I'll say it again, you could kill 1000 people today, in 2008 and bury them. Wait a few years for them to rot and fossilize. Then you will have the same slight size and shape differences you are talking about. Skull shape, brain cavity, and countless other slight variations ALL from people in the SAME era. You are basing your beliefs on a "prediction" like you said. "Like evolution predicts" is what you said. There is another answer my friend.
HAHAHAHAHAHA The prediction happens before the evidence accumulates! When they (scientists) found the evidence and it fit they were astounded and overjoyed.
And no, you won't find the same variation you retard. Australopithecus afarensis had a cranial capacity of 374-550 cubed cm. Homo Sapiens have a cranial capacity of 1350 cubed cm. And you think this is from regular humans... living at the same time. You're a fool.
7 pairs + 4400 (estimate) isn't enough genetic variability??? Do you know how many babies animals have? Especially cats (while we are on that KIND). 4400 years years been proven to be enough time to go from 8 people to 6 billion. Just research a basic population chart from 1800 to 2000. See how much it's grown in just 200 years. Don't tell me 4400 years isn't enough time. And stop asking for proof, do the research yourself. But you wont, because you only "research" what you believe in...
Are you joking? You're talking about population growth after the development of modern medicine, post industrial revolution, to people living 4000 years ago? You're a joke. You are a complete and utter joke. It hasn't been "proven" that we can go from 8 people to 6.7 billion (actual population) in 4000 years. Creationist organizations have fudged the numbers, yes, but that's not proving you over confident little person.
I'm going to clear up the "fossil record debate" once and for all. FOSSILS don't contain ANY living matter in them. So don't say we can SEE "links" in the "fossil record". All we SEE is bone structures that look similar to each other. There is NO way to test the genome of said bones. We can't scientifically PROVE those bones are ancestors to one another. People come in all shapes and sizes, so if 1000 people were buried in different layers, would you assume they lived in different eras?
You need to learn some archeology. Go tell Sapienturk that his degree is useless because you can't tell anything from fossils. If you'd taken the time to read any of the literature you'd realize that it's more than "shapes and sizes". Theres a gradual change in structure exactly how evolution predicted it would be, slow evolution to bipedal movement, in exactly the right geological time scale. Then there's the brain cavity size, which also slowly progresses to homo sapien size. FAIL, try again.
Thevinerhyme didn't bring that up so I didn't think it was necessary to correct a christian. 7 pairs still isn't enough genetic variability however, so you still lose. Learn to read scientific journals.
Though I still think Thunderf00t is the absolute master at smashing creationist arguments and sending the willfully ignorant running like scalded dogs, you did a good job. You were clear and concise in your rebuttals, didn't spend a lot of time saying uhm, and oooh, and you got to the point.
To be compared to Thunderf00t, is more than I could ask for in a compliment Darthbelal! Thank you so much for that, it's comments like that, that inspire me to do more.
I'm not getting into this whole argument but I have 2 things to say. (sorry if it comes off as angry) 1. Wikipedia is NOT I repeat IS NOT a legitamate sorce for citations or references. I could go onto it and put leopards are purple and it would be posted. 2. I appologise if you are and mention is further in the vid (I'm paused at 4:22) but what are your credentials. he (as he says) is a best selling author. I would rather trust that than somone right off he street.
1) I completely agree with you about wikipedia, it isn't an academic source, however I read through the articles and they contained an adequate explaination of the topics and they are easier to read than most scientific papers for people.
2) I don't know when exactly thevinerhyme claimed he was a best selling author, I've heard him say he's a herbalist, which doesn't mean he knows anything about genetics. And being an author doesn't make you an expert on anything.
As for my credentials, what you're doing is commiting a argument from authority fallacy, my credentials don't matter as long as my arguments have sources, which you can see clearly they do.
My credentials however include a minor in evolutionay biology, and a girlfriend who's a microbiologist who fact checks everything I say. Aside from that I'm well read in biology and chemistry. If you'd like I can send you my high school transcripts so you can see the marks I received. [rolls eyes]
Rolls eyes wow thats an ass move. I really don't want your credentials or high school marks. (especially since it has nothing to do with intelligence, its not hard to get good grades in high school, like who can't follow a rubric or assignment. I'm not calling you dumb if that what you think) I just wanted to point out wiki and ask the generalities or your credentials.
And I was trying to show that asking for someones credentials is a stupid question. This is youtube, not an academic journal. Besides, this around my 50th video, why would I go around mentioning my credentials every time? If I'm right, I'm right, it wouldn't matter if I dropped out of high school lik the amazing atheist.
How do they explain the long half-lives of the chemical elements? Where is there mathematical models to show that certain elements that have half-lives over 10,000 years are under 10,000 years old?
Also, how does the sin of the first man affect the entirety of creation? If my brother disobeys God, why should that affect my cats? My cats have never had contact with my brother, so how is that scientifically and logically possible?
Those are good questions, and neither have ever been answered in my opinion. No christian actually understands the idea of original sin, it's absolutely retarded. And as for half lives, they probably deny the entire science of chemistry.
I love how he tries to argue scientific (or when he does it pseudo-scientific) arguments then switches to unscientific words like "kinds". As someone who has completed 3 years of a 4 year microbiology degree I find his arguments hilarious.
When he is talking about mutations breaking down the genome I bet he means the waring of telomeres on the ends of chromosomes. However this isn't a problem for the genome that is passed on to offspring. This is a problem for alive adult humans who's cells replicate. Telomeres get shorter and this can lead to problems within an already living organism. This isn't a problem for the haploid genome(in humans) passing on to the next offspring.
"Telomeres have been compared with the plastic tips on shoelaces because they prevent chromosome ends from fraying and sticking to each other, which would scramble an organism's genetic information to cause cancer, other diseases or death." An enzyme named telomerase adds bases to the ends of telomeres. In young cells, telomerase keeps telomeres from wearing down too much. But as cells divide repeatedly, there is not enough telomerase, so the telomeres grow shorter and the cells age.
Telomerase remains active in sperm and eggs, which are passed from one generation to the next. If reproductive cells did not have telomerase to maintain the length of their telomeres, any organism with such cells soon would go extinct. "

Unpolluted genome? Unscientific. Molecular biologists and geneticists don't use such terminology.
Yeah I know what you mean! My girlfriend who I told you is also in Microbiology was especially laughing whenever he would talk about transposons as miracle working adaptive DNA, but that they weren't mutations. The guy is a bit of a crock.
Does anyone know when this amazing super-evolution supposedly came to an end? If we have all the countless species today from only a few 'kinds' which sprang from the corrupted(?!) genome, how come it suddenly stopped? Shouldn't we have new species appearing on a regular (maybe daily) basis if this part of creationism is correct? What a joke - the same people who laugh at evolution tell us every species sprang (ie evolved) from a few thousand kinds... and VERY quickly. LOLOLOL... ad infinitum.
I find that to be the biggest contradiction in the entire creationist belief system. They always balk at everyone else at the tiniest mention of evolution, and then talk about this super evolution that happened from non-existant gene pools... To have that kind of selective memory and double-think just astounds me to no end.
I can really identify with your trying not to laugh.
So, accordingly, only TWO dinasaurs were needed on the "ark" in order to save the species? (This, of course, assumes that the popular 1960s children's cartoon, The Flintsones was a documentary series. "Down, Dino! Down!")
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Woods Hole, Massachusetts has a COMPLETE library of core samples of ALL world oceans & major bodies of water. Water salinity throughout recodred and unrecorded history is well known.
Bahahahahah! You have no idea how hard I just laughed when you brought up Woods Hole!! I didn't even know that but it makes his video 1000 times MORE absurd than what I'd already thought! Hahahaha!!! Damn that's awesome. I fucking love science.
I used to read a lot of fiction but I don't read too much anymore. I've been reading so many books on biology and cosmology lately and I love it. Although I do intersperse some comic books in there as well!
Me too. I'm always reading about science or watching a new science documentary on the net. (I put my TV in the closet long ago.)The last fiction I read was the Harry Potter series because I wanted to know why one of my daughters was addicted to them.
I still have the tv out for hockey games and for Kish's cooking shows, but I know what you mean. I haven't read Harry Potter actually, it just never peaked my interest. Some of my favourite fiction (on tv anyway) is a Canadian series called Regenesis, which is a great show about a lab that handles biological crisises.
My youngest daughter became a Potter "groupie" so I felt obligated to know what she was into. The books became long and tedious so I got the last 3 on audio and listened in the car.
I hadn't heard of Regenesis. The premise sounds familiar. Anything like the film THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN?
I haven't seen The Andromeda Strain, but the main premise of Regenesis is that the US, Canada and Mexico create NorBAC (North American Biotechnology Advisory Commision) with the most brilliant scientific minds from each country after the SARS breakout to deal with future problems and a likely increase in bioterrorism. It's an awesome series and if you don't have any qualms with downloading you can find it at isohunt or most other torrent sites..
Thanks! I'm interested & looking into it. The CIPRO contoversy going on today in the US makes this especially interesting.
Few know that Donald Rumsfeld saved the makers of CIPRO. Hired in the mid 70s by the company because of his Washington connections, he slipped the drug through the process under radar even though they KNEW it was VERY dangerous.
The anthrax attacks after 9-11(the investigation shelved) happened on Rumsfelds watch & SKYROCKETED the sales of this killer drug.
I find many things about the latest administration interesting... In a bad way!
I think you'll like the series, it takes some artistic license sometimes in the ways of science, but they have clarifications on their websites which I thought was cool.
Yes, interesting. It's also interesting that the whole anthrax investigation went away after it was found to be military grade and markers showed that it was designed and produced in a military bio lab in Maryland.
Also interesting is that Rumsfeld FORCED US soldiers to take the drug, which, of course, made the company hundreds of millions in profit.
Yes. Top secret. It was developed at the same time the US government was developing EVERYTHING they could think of as a bio-terror weapon funded by Rockefeller money when we had openely told the world via Nixon that we would shut down these labs and destroy all bio weapons. A BIG FAT LIE!
Actually funding INCREASED!
By the way, Oregon is LOADED with LEAKING bio weapons storage facilities. The government is doing nothing to secure the risk.
The mass media will NEVER report this. It's easy to find though. Just google it & you'll find the US bio-terror supply maps. Indiana is full of this shit too. SHHHH! (We don't talk about this Nazi stuff!)
I LOVE Oregon. It's a FANTASTICALLY beautiful place. Prehistoric landscapes. Really! The state is an enigma. Pockets of EXTREMELY liberal (like me) & EXTREMELY FAR right wing (like prince Philip). Nazis HATE the sate because the liberals usually win there - a lot live in the cities.
Yeah I remember seeing a documentary on the Nazi outbreak in Portland years ago... crazy stuff.
You work in science don't you? You should check out some of the comments left by a01011399 on this string of videos... He's absolutely laughable. He actually tried to assert that Noah had better technology for taking care of animals than we do now.
Factions WAR in Oregon. It's the Nazis that allowed bio-terror dumps.
Yes, I studied phsyciatric medicine in Mssachusetts & then space hydroponics at DBCC in Florida &, finally environmental engineering at the University of Florida. (ALMOST a "perpetual student")
I just visited his site & will check him out for as long as I can stand it.
Anyone with HALF a brain cell knows that it takes a HUGE team of experts to even keep wild creatures ALIVE. Many must be SPECIALISTS in their fields.
As far as I'm concerned, all you need to say to prove the Noah's ark story wrong when it comes to taking care of the animals is; antiseptic. They didn't have any. If ANY of the animals were cut in such a cramped, moist, hot environment there would be massive infections. And if one animal died, an entire "kind" would be extinct.
Sweet, you totally took his shit appart. It's amazing that he's still using the long-debunked old creationist non-arguments, seem's they just can't "evolve"... :-D
I regard the claim "there are no transitional fossils" as *the* epistemological indicator that the person speaking knows nothing about this subject or is lying. In any case, nicely done, Andrew. I'm enjoying this. :-)
I react the same way. The "there are no transitional fossils" line draws an instant "oh fuck right off" in my head, and destroys any and all credibility of the person who uttered the statement. Glad you're liking it!
"The 'there are no transitional fossils' ...d estroys any and all credibility of the person who uttered the statement."
Exactly. Just the other day, a guy made the claim in a comment on, of all things, my video about transubstantiation. I referred him to a video here on YouTube by Ken Miller in which the transitional fossil record is discussed at some length. The guy kvetched about the video's length, asked me if I were trying to waste his time, & so on. I finally challenged him...
...by asking, "You're not truly interested in transitional fossils, are you?" In a rare moment of honesty and clarity, he responded, "No." And I suspect he's not unique. These folks are committed to an ideology that tells them science is their enemy, that evolution came out of the bowels of Satan himself, and so on. They don't want to know the facts because that would, in their estimation, be yielding to the dark side.
Creationists don't want to learn, they want to hear people say "yes you're right, all those smart people are wrong and they're going to hell". I didn't even know people delighted in telling other they were going to burn until I was introduced to the evangelical community...
I'm watching all of these as you upload them. This is a great, interesting-to-watch commentary and I'm really looking forward to the others. Good work!
Another one is renderring as we speak! I'm on quite the torrid pace trying to edit, put in the references, upload, and add annotations one after another... I think a nap will be had after this!
And thanks a million!! I hope the rest don't disappoint!
Nicely done! ★★★★★ I was considering giving this guy(thevinerhyme) 9 examples of observed speciation(examples of evolution), but I noticed that he does not seem to care for truth/facts so I did not bother.
Thanks so much for subscribing Katalyzt!! I've seen you around commenting for quite awhile now and I think we agree on most things! I'm looking forward to your input!
I really don't care if thevinerhyme even watches this, I just wanted to make sure fence sitters see how illogical his claims are.
Good job compiling all this info. I briefly started commenting on that video, but started to have breathing problems caused by too much ignorance/stupidity in vinerhyme's responses (along w/ typical threats of 'if you don't repent you are going to burn in hell'). :o)
Thanks a lot Angel!! From what I've seen thevinerhyme isn't usually this crazy, but this set of videos he did was just off the wall stupid. I have another one renderring so stay tuned!
I am assuming when VineRhyme is talking about fresh water flowing over salt water he is talking about the Amazon. This is true as it is in smaller estuaries. I don't know how it proves the existence of Santa Claus but Booker T Washington used this idea to argue that Blacks should look for opportunities in America.
Well it's tough to guess exactly what he's referring to because he refuses to source anything... Which drives me fucking insane, I don't like taking people at face value for science.

Whos cares about all the species that was needed to be on Noah's Ark becuase no body turly knows.
I have a better Questions! How did Earth get all that water? From space gas? Flood the Earth for 30 days 30 Nights ? then the Earth's
atmosphere could hold it all and the sun blow away it away like sand in the wind.
Could that be Y Earth will never flood any more?
Could that be how Mars got its water in the pass but lost it?
Darkfoster22 3 years ago
Except Earths atmosphere would be so pressurized by all this extra water that pretty much all life would drown.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
You said drown by atmosphere or so much atmosphere life will be push down in water?
WTF you talking about?
Tell us how your law of physics works
Darkfoster22 3 years ago
You should try learning about physics. When there is that much water, it increases pressure in the atmosphere, and there is far more water in the air because of diffusion. This super dense, and moist air will drown your lungs. I'm not a physicist, so I'm not going to pretend to know how to fully explain it to you, but that is the simplified version of how it happens. Are we done being insulting little douche bags now?
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Wrong. We see 100% humidity alotd & does nothing.
Darkfoster22 3 years ago
So you're also astoundingly ignorant of climatology.... Sad.
The 100% humidity rating is relative to the climate, 100% humidity in New Mexico is nowhere near 100% humidity in Florida. And humidity doesn't increase atmospheric pressure. Please do some research before making another stupid comment.

lol at 3:01 you talk about how its ridiculous that different species can come from just a pair. well its ridiculous that you think we come from monkeys and primordial ooze
coldswift7 3 years ago
Except you're putting restrictions on it that normal evolution doesn't have. Namely, two animals that have already evolved to a far extent, and 4000 years to work with. Whereas in evolution we work with the ACTUAL amount of time available from the first life, approx 3 billion years, and an abundance of organisms with high genetic variability.

That's fine that you believe that, just don't expect for anyone to respect that belief as far as theory goes. As long as you don't try to propogate it as fact and force it into science classrooms you can believe whatever you wish!

Inqoinf 3 years ago
There's a damn good reason why creationists get fired all the time. When you get caught making shit up you pay the consequences! Thanks for the comment!
ConcordiaAtheists 3 years ago
Well it's not that they get fired all the time, because many of their jobs are secure... Like Ken Ham. They take millions of dollars from Christians who are grasping for answers that match their world view. Many of these people do not have a college education so they have no Idea whether they are being lied to or not. No one has been fired from the Discovery Institute even after the embarrassing (to creationists) Dover ID trial.
Inqoinf 3 years ago
I think what he/she was referring to is some of the creationists who've been fired in academia. Like the guy who snuck one of Dembski's papers into a peer reviewed journal before it had been peer reviewed. When those science terrorists get caught I'm glad their fired. People like that don't deserve tenure at respected universities.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
No, I was simply making a point of the same kind can have various variations between themselves. Lets try this then...say some douchebag theorizes we all have a common ancestor (wonder who I'm talking about...). Then scientists who SUBSCRIBE to his 'theory' find human, ape, orangutan, and other variants ALL currently living. He might assume they are all related due to their apparent bipedal similarities. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. What they find are just long extinct ape variants. Wow
ghostgate82 3 years ago
Lets try this then... say some douchebag writes a story about a radical jew who got crucified and rose again(Paul). Then a bunch of anonymous radicals write different versions of the story and in a shady convention 300 years later the gospels are heavily edited and 4 are chosen to represent the official canon. Church burns all books that disagree with this story and almost 2000 years late 1 billion people are still fooled by this fairy tale for grown-ups. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. Wow.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Problem. That's not how it works.
That's science. Get used to it.

people have got to quit reffering to wikipedia as a reliable source , its crazy how many people believe everything they read on there . you have no clue who posted it .
kingbrandor 3 years ago
Technically wikipedia has tightened up in the last 6 months as far as editing the entries. If you edit something on science without references to legitemate sources it's removed within an hour. There will always be errors in a public controlled encyclopedia, but for this purposes, and for the vague things I used it for it served it's purpose and the articles were spot on. It's just easier for some people to read a couple wikipedia entries than 15 academic journals ya know?
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Like I said child, SIZE means nothing. I'll say it again, you could kill 1000 people today, in 2008 and bury them. Wait a few years for them to rot and fossilize. Then you will have the same slight size and shape differences you are talking about. Skull shape, brain cavity, and countless other slight variations ALL from people in the SAME era. You are basing your beliefs on a "prediction" like you said. "Like evolution predicts" is what you said. There is another answer my friend.
ghostgate82 3 years ago
HAHAHAHAHAHA The prediction happens before the evidence accumulates! When they (scientists) found the evidence and it fit they were astounded and overjoyed.
And no, you won't find the same variation you retard. Australopithecus afarensis had a cranial capacity of 374-550 cubed cm. Homo Sapiens have a cranial capacity of 1350 cubed cm. And you think this is from regular humans... living at the same time. You're a fool.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
7 pairs + 4400 (estimate) isn't enough genetic variability??? Do you know how many babies animals have? Especially cats (while we are on that KIND). 4400 years years been proven to be enough time to go from 8 people to 6 billion. Just research a basic population chart from 1800 to 2000. See how much it's grown in just 200 years. Don't tell me 4400 years isn't enough time. And stop asking for proof, do the research yourself. But you wont, because you only "research" what you believe in...
ghostgate82 3 years ago

People come in all shapes and sizes, so if 1000 people were buried in different layers, would you assume they lived in different eras?
ghostgate82 3 years ago
You need to learn some archeology. Go tell Sapienturk that his degree is useless because you can't tell anything from fossils. If you'd taken the time to read any of the literature you'd realize that it's more than "shapes and sizes". Theres a gradual change in structure exactly how evolution predicted it would be, slow evolution to bipedal movement, in exactly the right geological time scale. Then there's the brain cavity size, which also slowly progresses to homo sapien size. FAIL, try again.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
CLEAN animals had 7 pairs...learn to read. Noah took on 7 KIND pairs of cats. Again, learn to read the Bible.
ghostgate82 3 years ago
Thevinerhyme didn't bring that up so I didn't think it was necessary to correct a christian. 7 pairs still isn't enough genetic variability however, so you still lose. Learn to read scientific journals.

DreamTheatre17 3 years ago
1) I completely agree with you about wikipedia, it isn't an academic source, however I read through the articles and they contained an adequate explaination of the topics and they are easier to read than most scientific papers for people.
2) I don't know when exactly thevinerhyme claimed he was a best selling author, I've heard him say he's a herbalist, which doesn't mean he knows anything about genetics. And being an author doesn't make you an expert on anything.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
As for my credentials, what you're doing is commiting a argument from authority fallacy, my credentials don't matter as long as my arguments have sources, which you can see clearly they do.
My credentials however include a minor in evolutionay biology, and a girlfriend who's a microbiologist who fact checks everything I say. Aside from that I'm well read in biology and chemistry. If you'd like I can send you my high school transcripts so you can see the marks I received. [rolls eyes]
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Rolls eyes wow thats an ass move. I really don't want your credentials or high school marks. DreamTheatre17 3 years ago

My critiques of creationism...
My cats have never had contact with my brother, so how is that scientifically and logically possible?
opinionhead444 3 years ago
Those are good questions, and neither have ever been answered in my opinion. No christian actually understands the idea of original sin, it's absolutely retarded. And as for half lives, they probably deny the entire science of chemistry.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
I love how he tries to argue scientific (or when he does it pseudo-scientific) arguments then switches to unscientific words like "kinds". As someone who has completed 3 years of a 4 year microbiology degree I find his arguments hilarious.
Mjhavok 3 years ago
When he is talking about mutations breaking down the genome I bet he means the waring of telomeres on the ends of chromosomes. However this isn't a problem for the genome that is passed on to offspring. This is a problem for alive adult humans who's cells replicate. Telomeres get shorter and this can lead to problems within an already living organism. This isn't a problem for the haploid genome(in humans) passing on to the next offspring.
Mjhavok 3 years ago
"Telomeres have been compared with the plastic tips on shoelaces because they prevent chromosome ends from fraying and sticking to each other, which would scramble an organism's genetic information to cause cancer, other diseases or death." An enzyme named telomerase adds bases to the ends of telomeres. In young cells, telomerase keeps telomeres from wearing down too much. But as cells divide repeatedly, there is not enough telomerase, so the telomeres grow shorter and the cells age.
Mjhavok 3 years ago
Telomerase remains active in sperm and eggs, which are passed from one generation to the next. If reproductive cells did not have telomerase to maintain the length of their telomeres, any organism with such cells soon would go extinct. "

Unpolluted genome? Unscientific. Molecular biologists and geneticists don't use such terminology.

Gisburne2000 3 years ago
I find that to be the biggest contradiction in the entire creationist belief system. They always balk at everyone else at the tiniest mention of evolution, and then talk about this super evolution that happened from non-existant gene pools... To have that kind of selective memory and double-think just astounds me to no end.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
I can really identify with your trying not to laugh.
So, accordingly, only TWO dinasaurs were needed on the "ark" in order to save the species? (This, of course, assumes that the popular 1960s children's cartoon, The Flintsones was a documentary series. "Down, Dino! Down!")

t4705mb6 3 years ago
I used to read a lot of fiction but I don't read too much anymore. I've been reading so many books on biology and cosmology lately and I love it. Although I do intersperse some comic books in there as well!
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Me too. I'm always reading about science or watching a new science documentary on the net. (I put my TV in the closet long ago.)The last fiction I read was the Harry Potter series because I wanted to know why one of my daughters was addicted to them.
t4705mb6 3 years ago
I still have the tv out for hockey games and for Kish's cooking shows, but I know what you mean. I haven't read Harry Potter actually, it just never peaked my interest. Some of my favourite fiction (on tv anyway) is a Canadian series called Regenesis, which is a great show about a lab that handles biological crisises.
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
My youngest daughter became a Potter "groupie" so I felt obligated to know what she was into. The books became long and tedious so I got the last 3 on audio and listened in the car.
I hadn't heard of Regenesis. The premise sounds familiar. Anything like the film THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN?
t4705mb6 3 years ago

Interesting?
t4705mb6 3 years ago
I find many things about the latest administration interesting... In a bad way!
I think you'll like the series, it takes some artistic license sometimes in the ways of science, but they have clarifications on their websites which I thought was cool.

andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Yes, interesting. It's also interesting that the whole anthrax investigation went away after it was found to be military grade and markers showed that it was designed and produced in a military bio lab in Maryland.
Also interesting is that Rumsfeld FORCED US soldiers to take the drug, which, of course, made the company hundreds of millions in profit.
Thanks for the links.
t4705mb6 3 years ago
The anthrax was developed at Fort Egan wasn't it?
And no problem!
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
Yes.

I regard the claim "there are no transitional fossils" as *the* epistemological indicator that the person speaking knows nothing about this subject or is lying. In any case, nicely done, Andrew. I'm enjoying this. :-)
ProfMTH 3 years ago
I react the same way. The "there are no transitional fossils" line draws an instant "oh fuck right off" in my head, and destroys any and all credibility of the person who uttered the statement. Glad you're liking it!
andrewrberkshire 3 years ago
"The 'there are no transitional fossils' ...d estroys any and all credibility of the person who uttered the statement."
Exactly. Just the other day, a guy made the claim in a comment on, of all things, my video about transubstantiation. I referred him to a video here on YouTube by Ken Miller in which the transitional fossil record is discussed at some length. The guy kvetched about the video's length, asked me if I were trying to waste his time, & so on. I finally challenged him...
ProfMTH 3 years ago
...by asking, "You're not truly interested in transitional fossils, are you?" In a rare moment of honesty and clarity, he responded, "No." And I suspect he's not unique. These folks are committed to an ideology that tells them science is their enemy, that evolution came out of the bowels of Satan himself, and so on. They don't want to know the facts because that would, in their estimation, be yielding to the dark side.
ProfMTH 3 years ago

Great so far! Can't wait for the rest of the videos to upload! How many are there by the way?
