Would you rather listen to the distorted music that was blasting from the PA system? I filtered a lot of the PA sound out but had to put a soundtrack over the thing for it to work.
I do with people would keep their moronic, ignorant comments to themselves. However I did have to snigger at the irony of your name when reading your comment.
the f-22 is the only generation 5 fighter it was not built to counter su -47 b/c su-47 is not in service. it will be a long time before the su - 47 comes into service. And by the way the raptor also beat 5 f15/c's by it self making it the best fighter in the world.
No you mean "Fuck" the American People because just in case you didn't take social studies back in forth grade, Congress are the voice of the people and they do what the majority of the people/nation wants. Congess(the american people) discontinued the F-22 NOT Obama, all he can do is recommend but its up to Congress to make the decision. Don't Blame Obama he was almost powerless at making the decision. But yeah the F-22 kicks major ass and i should know I live right next to Langley AFB.
This plane was built as competition to Russian planes and they are just as good. Look for videos of MIG-29 and SUU-31. They impressive also and have been in service longer and have more than likely worked out any bugs.
The avionics on an F-22 are unlike any other in the world. Russians Jets wouldn't stand a chance, they are more comparable to our F-15/F-18's. The 22 would take any jet out before they were even spotted.
If you are allowed to shoot from that far out that would be a plus. Unless their has been a change to the rules US planes are not allowed to fire on any aircraft until they have made visual contact. US fighter planes carry radar guide missiles with a range over 100 miles. Not since the F-4 was purchased has the military bought a fighter without a gun. It took Vietnam and lose of many aircraft that dogfighting skills and gun could be replaced by a missile.
mig 29 and F16 air combat in german airforce was evaluated in germany, the results saying that the F16 pilots dint get a feet to the ground. then the F16 pilots got mad and left the room. and its a real story. i'm not protecting mig 29, i'm just saying that it might not fail at the F16 opponent but when it gets to f15, thats an older one but tougher.
Dull compared to the Typhoon's act - and from this month Typhoon is operational, in a real war zone...when will the Raptor go to war, or is just for pop-eyed kids with pop corn?
Your F-15s had a nasty shock over Windermere, when two of them tried to "bounce" one Typhoon - and a two-seater trainer version at that..you must have heard. Some steriods!
Ive heard many stories from both ends...but without blood spilled its all hearsay. And our F-15s have been gettin spanked in knife fights with since the F-16. Its all about BVR with Eagles. The tiffy is a deadly fighter and i was very impressed with the few practice demos i got to watch while passing through Moron Ab Spain. But it reminded me of an F-16 demo on steroids IMO. Lots of aileron rolls and tight turns with insane climb rates! Very cool but not as much high AoA stuff like a Raptor.
Very civilised, considered and courteous reply. I must say, the Raptor is impressive. I think the debate is hot because the Tiffy is obviously a remarkable aircraft too, and getting better, but some of your countrymen refuse to see that - and after all, what would the Mustang have been, without the Spitfire's engine? (The Rolls Royce Merlin).
-"Very civilised, considered and courteous reply."
Maybe you should be taking notes? ;)
-"but some of your countrymen refuse to see that"
I suspect these "countrymen" are put off by all the "EF beats Craptor"-type comments.
Look, the EF is indeed a remarkable aircraft, but it is what it is: an "F-16 on steroids." It's certainly not close to being an equal to the Raptor (some of your countrymen refuse to see THAT).
A few hard facts. Singapore meet - three F16s, one Typhoon - 3/0 to the Typhoon. This year's "Typhoon Meet" 38 varied jets, including F16s against eight Tiffys - 38/0 to the Tiffys. This year's Green Flag in the good old USA...98% plus scores for the Tiffy on ground targets. "Unprecedented" say military...
well i was there and this, by far, was the best part of the whole airshow.. the f-22 is freakin amazing in person.. if u think the f-15 is impressive and loud, wait for this beast!
I'm speaking to everyone who says the Raptor demo is tame and lame when I say to seriously just shut up and stop showing us your apparent lack of understanding and respect to the pilots and crews. Quit whining and just enjoy seeing this magnificent piece of fine art flying.
The Air Force doesn't have to throw it's $144 Million pride and joy around at a very dangerous spectator's sport's convention.
Yeah sure the Raptor can do tons of other awesome stuff as displayed by Dozer a couple occasions (Even though he wasn't supposed to) but I think the real reason why we are seeing such a bland show in terms of aircraft capability is because the USAF is afraid of showing "to much" capability to the public. I think it is bs but whatever. Rarely will someone come to an airshow just to see how well an aircraft will handle up against another in combat. Like em745aa said, people want to be wowed.
Awsome Video. I live near Langley AFB, so I get to see this all the time. The pilot, Col. Paul "Max" Moga scares the birds (And everytrhing else) about every 15 days.
The Raptor sure was the highlight of the show - even better than the Thunderbirds.
Less cool was the trip home....I managed to get out of the base in about 1.5 hours.....my friend took about three hours and then got stuck in traffgic after an accident one one of the Panama City bridges....total time stationary in traffic for him=5 hours!
The whole 5:45 - 6:10 sequence was the best... man I just wish they would do more awesome, continuous, interconnected maneuvering like that for even 2 minutes, rather than single oriented, maneuvers, followed by 1 minute of recovery flying.
-"I just wish they would do more awesome, continuous, interconnected maneuvering"
ITA. On the AirShowBuzz forums, Max (the demo pilot) says that they want to concentrate on examples of unique tactical maneuvering.
Now, as fine a pilot and as cool a chap as he is, I don't really agree with that line of thinking. Besides, they did the tail-slide often enough during '07... And exactly how is a tail slide tactically relevant??
Anyway, the main purpose of the Raptor demo is "selling" the Raptor to the public--to wow people and make them see that it's money well spent. And IMHO, the average Joes and Janes at airshows won't care whether a maneuver is combat-relevant. People just want to be "wowed," and I really think the Raptor team is holding back on a lot of "juicy" stuff only because the maneuvers are deemed worthless in combat, and/or because they don't want to "copy" the routines of more conventional jets (?).
Screw that I say! Put a cobra or two in there. We know it can do a damn good one (we've seen Dozer do it). Maybe throw in a kulbit or two. And put more (like you said) continuous, interconnected maneuvering, like you often see in those Viper, SH and EF demos. "Tactical-only" be damned! And who cares if other jets do 'em too. Let's see the Raptor do 'em BETTER! :)
-"Anyway, the music was perfect!"
Am I mistaken or is that not one of Jean-Michel Jarre's new-agey ditties?
Pity about the music, why do people insist on music defeats the purpose of the video.

The RAF Typhoon is way better, far more maneuverable than that anvil, all I've seen it do is that climb and level off.
Oh and vector thrust - a British invention by Sidney Camm, Ralph Hooper, and Stanley Hooker.
