I am not a racist but when i went to china on a school trip and we toured cities off the tourist route i was a bit underwhelmed. In QiFu the birthplace of Confucius, a spiritual leader of china and an academic whose philosophies are now entrenched in chinese cutlure, i saw a peasant take a shit outside the entrance to Confucius's former house and that just summed up china for me as well as huge amount of poverty in countryside when we went to rural schools. That were untouched by the boom.
