You know when you're on the internet and then you start clicking on links and links and links and then you stumble into smth that completely blows you away and you can't believe your luck? That's me right now.
Check out all of Rae's albums. They are high quality. Music runs through the body of Rae, which is of course why Rae can resonate like a guitar. Get over yourselves and live the life. Opinions are for fillet Minions.
What's with all the dumb name dropping in the song?
Lame melody, mediocre singing. Pretty boringly gay, overall. How come Canada produces so many gender-bender women singers per capita? I hope it's not something in the water, as I drink water here!
Why listen to this, when 3+ '90s Mazzy Star band albums + lots of live bootlegs exist with the sublime, emotive, sensual & beautiful Hope Sandoval singing better than 99.9999% of singers, & without auto-tune?
@TheLaughingOut I came here thanks to mass-e-mail blogger Bob Lefsetz directing readers to this video.Only after I posted did it occur to me I once saw Rae in concert sharing stage with storyteller Ivan E. Coyote at Vancouver Folk Fest some years back. I thought Rae fairly boring then too,but I liked Ivan's stories cleverly illustrated with huge projected slides of Yukon.Ivan's more butch than KD Lang & it didn't make me dislike her. It's not that Rae's (gay? TG?) it's s/hes' boring, imo!
@Bobjb999 Oh so sheltered and ignorant to diversity. Go back into your little box where your shallow opinions echo. It's one thing to criticize the music, another to criticize someone's gender identity which has NOTHING to do with his music.
@Bobjb999 I didn't criticize your critique of his music did I? I criticized your comment about the music being "gay" and you calling him a woman who's "gender bending."
Just listened to this after checking out Mayer Hawthorne. Wow, was Mayer bad. And although I recognize about 100 different cliches in Rae's vocal delivery, melody, you name it-- this still comes across as original, heartfelt and REAL. Thumbs up!
Outstanding. I watched this as a comparison to Todd Alsup who, had he written this song would have sung "Billy Joel, Turn on a Light". But while Alsup uses every hackneyed trick in the book, Rae has his (?) own voice, not only as a singer but especially in the sly orchestration of this little gem.

@Bobjb999 Why don't you take your homophobic, transphobic, bigoted statements some place where they're more accepted. Like Iraq or the US.

@Bobjb999 A) he's not a woman. B) It's the luxury of unmitigated freedom and acceptance we have here.
I suggest you either learn some sensitivity, or learn to keep quiet.

How do you tune a guitar like that?
Good not great. Sorry.
