I am half jewish/ half Moselm. Mother is moslem and dad is jewish. In moslem religion they say the dad has to be molsem. jews say the mom should be jewish.

One day I watched this Persian program and the owner of Zoor Khanee said something that now is my life philosophy. Now I don't care about religions anymore and respect both religion. The owner said this:

"Zoorkhane philosophy is this: "Be kasi zolm nakon, va nagzar kasi be to zolm kone." Translation: don't do unjust and don't take unjust.

unfortunately the ring here, or the mat, is a little bit to small. Old zorkhane was pretty huge. Also the athletes didnt have any t-shirts on, and was only in traditional shorts.

Zurkhaneh's origins go back to Persians fighting arab invaders during the islamic conquest.

After the revolution in 79, instead of singing from the Shahnameh by Ferdowsi, the morshed now must sing about ali and hussein.

The same people who occupied them centuries ago.

The stories of ShahNameh like Rostam and Sohrab have been part of Varzeshe Pahlevani for thousands of years. As they are more patriotic and appropriate for such exercises.

But the islamic regimes goal has always been to destroy Iran's pre-islamic history.

Are there any books on the subject in English? Maybe English-translation? I have a growing fascination with the history of the Zurkhaneh. Do they have any Zurkhanehs in the West? In California? We need more on the philosophy of it too. I wish I could go to one--but no ladies. lol
