  • What's the problem? Fuck with the governor, or shift it manually. End of story

  • look into a transgo shift kit. Transgo2&3 works awesome in that transmission, Full Manual ! it works awesome.

700R4 is the same thing as a 4L60E, only different valvebody, and 2nd accumulator.

  • look into a transgo shift kit. Transgo2&3 works awesome in that transmission, Full Manual ! it works awesome.

  • install a transgo shift kit in that bad boy. it not already.

    TRANSGO 2&3 works best.

  • Edlebrock has an offset so if you use one you have to get the edlebrock bracket which moves two different ways . I have one I just dont like the three different adjustments of which two can move. If it was a stick car I would no doubt use the Edlebrock. The older Q Jet is from a 68 Vette and is close to the same specs but better yet it was on one of my shevles.

  • a 700r4 is a 4l60e internaly

  • lol at the steering wheel

  • 2-3 was to soon typical 700R4 is it a 4L60E?

  • @DRNEGOLICIS If it was a 4L60E it would be easy to fix. It's a 700R4.

I need to redo it all with the thing in Drive instead of OD.

I didn't know the other shift points were different; thought it just locked out 4th.

  • @supervisor42 i never use OD on my truck i leave it on 3 all the time it locks out 4th but if you put it on 2 i stays in 2nd all the time it will even start in 2nd instead of 1st if you put it on 1 it stays in 1st till 45mph then shifts to 2nd and locks out 3rd and 4th

  • adjust tv by the book

  • your trans am looks just like mine inside

  • @n00bcak35 You got a column mounted tach too?

  • I want a 700r4 in my 305 Caprice with lock up converter.. get better grunt and MPGS too!

  • That early 2-3 shift sucks. I keep overdrive off when racing for that reason.

  • still had one more gear to go i think.......... needs more gears......atleast 4.10....I am thinking about 4.56........yeah top out will only be 120 but a hell of a rush untill then.............

  • lol yea

  • Hey Im having the same problem how did u get it fixed?

  • Not exactly but I was working on the shift points with it running in OD instead of DRIVE. You can get a governor weight and spring kit to move them above the 5200 stock shifts. See email.

  • @supervisor42

dont they have a cable from acceleratior pedal to transmission so that shift points change with throttle position?

if so cant u adjust that cable?

and why does it not shift at same rpm in every gear?

  • @tpvalley I had that kind of problem from going to an edlebrock, I am now going back to a older Q jet and switching out the butterfly rod from the stock electric Q jet and use the original bracket. If you get it wrong after awhile the trans fries.

  • @215jami

    sorry, what problem?

  • OMG that car is controlling its self!!

  • @chinnerz2 Yeah...you see, they had this thing in the '80's, called Knight Rider, and in it, they had this Trans Am called K.I.T.T....haha

  • @corvettels9 awesome show and all, but i always thought that car sounded kind of homo.... but then i remembered all machines are female... now i'm just very confused as i have over complicated it. (like i always do)

  • too slow and your tranny dont shift fast....

  • wow thats a neato steering wheel :D

  • ...and every button is completely non-functional except the horn. They are for the POS stock radio, mainly to allow for the air-bag coming the following year.

  • wow-weee 113 top end, I wonder how long 0-60? it would take to drive it back to the junk hard were that POS ponticrap belongs.

  • @ag72 lol! he had another gear 2 go loser!113mph in 3rd..not toped out in forth..

  • ha the interior has so much crap, it reminds me of Kitt

  • Wow what is in that thing?????? It's so Fa.... Slow!!!!! THat better be stock

  • man, these autometer tachometers suck ass - would you please take that off of your nice digi dash?

  • The digital tach looks pretty but lacks resolution and doesn't go above 6000 rpm.

I run the engine to 6500 and need to know how fast it is turning when it is above 6000 rpm .

You can see this in my rev-limiter video.

  • Actually, it is mounted to the steering column not the dash and doesn't look as bad as it does in the video.

  • 0 to 60 in 7 sec not bad

  • nice man im puttin 3:73 gears in mine

  • nice vid man what gears do you got in the rear? i got a 89 silverado and i wanna change the gearing

  • 3.27:1 Gears are expensive. Getting them installed and set up is even more so. Higher ratio means more acceleration and lower gas mileage. Choose wisely. You will have to live with them for a long time.

  • getting the gears changed isnt so hard, any person with a garage and the right tools can do it in maybe 3 hours or less. its not that hard, and youll get good results, but remember that when u put steeper gears its gonna make your car work harder on the freeway

  • the 1-2 is too high, but the 2-3 is fine. the motor is making more power at those high revs. The trans shifts when the engine vac start to fall off(end of power curve) so it knows when to shift

  • I meant to say *isnt making power at those high revs*

  • The engine is not stock. It's modified to make power in the upper rpm range.

See the other video of it on the dyno to see what I mean.

  • I did there isnt really any info. Just the video. What is it making?

  • how the hell is a 700r4 supposed to do a shift based on vacuum? the only thing the tranny is seeing is the throttle valve position via tv-cable!

  • Finally an intelligent response. I DID figure out that the shift points are different if the gear selector is in "D" or "OD"

  • really, how much different, i have an '88 camaro with a 700r4 and if i put it in D instead of OD, will it make a difference?

  • Take it for a spin. Make a note of the RPM of the WOT shifts with in OD and then from a standing start with it in D. Pay attention to the RPM that it shifts at from 1-2 and 2-3. They will be different. (there is no WOT 3-4 in either selection)

  • it wont make any difference in your 1-2 and 2-3 shifts

  • ea od is over drive and gives u better gas mileage and drive is for like down shifting or if u dont have od u still have 3 gears and not 2 gears left

  • Kool! I luv holdin' her down!!!

  • its an rpm meter

  • It's called a "tachometer", you knob.

  • @revolutionday1 i think you mean knoob

  • @1KEYSERxSOZE4 No dumbass, I mean "knob". As in "dickhead" etc. NOT the commonly used "n00b", or I would've fucking typed that instead. So don't be a KNOB and try to correct someone that doesn't need correcting. Dig?

  • @revolutionday1 look bitch dont be trying to act bad on a computer i simply thought you ment noob not knob because what kind of fagg goes around saying anything that has to do with dick oh thats right only faggs like you ya dumb piece of shit act your age BITCH

  • @revolutionday1 tach 4 short u noob lol!!

  • whats that gizmo thingamabob phenomenon of a car?! it proposperus! its stupendus! its ludacris! lol

  • Maybe this will answer your question:

See my video of '88 Transam Dyno Pull.

Here Honda-honda-honda. Don't let the old man give you a spankin' from the ol'school...

  • @supervisor42 Hehe, I don't own a Honda, I own a T-bird :P (I just got it! :D)
