I read this book, Christopher Isherwood's biography based on his journals from the period. I didn't know it had been made into a movie though. He also wrote the books upon which the movies Cabaret and A Single Man are based. Both books are well worth reading. And if you like early gay romances, you MUST read EM Forster's Maurice (and watch the movie too).

This is beautiful, touching and everything. Loved the movie, one of the best I've watched. And the song really fits. They played this over and over again at a hotel I stayed at in Turkey, fell asleep to it once.And this video is lovely: the editing and everything. Really love the movie, made me think a little. I realy love history and is it just me that thinks that maybe they would have let Heinz stay in England if he wasn't gay? Thinking of that being homo wasn't really that accepted back then.

It is wonderful, so beautiful and touching and the song fits amazingly well. What was your favourite scene from the movie? I also thought Casper going to the Nazis was a good historical reference as most likely mainly male prostitutes did. Oh, the the Iddo Goldberg who plays the Jew was in Diary of a Call Girl with Billie Piper, (Doctor Who reference) Defiance (playing a Jew), Relief of Belson (where he also plays a Jew) and now playing a Jew in this!

Second; my favourite scene was probably the burning of the jewish books, and when Christopher meets Wilfrid's eye over the bonfire. It was so touching and eye-opening.. seeing that happening. I also liked all of the performances by Jean :) her outfits were fabulous. Wow! He must be highly suited for the role of a Jew!
