I feel like I'm there at the concert singing along with the lyrics, man. I sure wish I was born about 20 years before I actually was so I could've actually gone!
makes my hair stand on end ... I went to see a tribute band called "magic "a kind of elo I was blown away by their playing , they started with the prologue what a key board player, honest turn your back you wouldnt tell ( keyboard wise).
saw them wembley , birmingham and stafford. nice to have a reunion tour.
Fantastic! Time was something of a return to former glories - as a concept album, it had echoes of Eldorado and the Prologue with the spoken part is very reminiscent of the Eldorado Overture ("The dreamer, the unwoken fool..."). Tragically, I had lost interest in ELO totally by this time, after their abysmal output in 1980 - wish I'd given them another listen with this superb album, which I've only got into restrospectively - had I got into it at the time, I'd have gone to one of the concerts!
I was at that show, too. The robot was programmed to roll out a certain distance, turn, roll forward a certain distance, give its monologue... the stagehands placed it too close to the lip of the stage, and it rolled right off the edge of the stage. I remember the band had to wait before starting "Twilight" because they were all laughing so hard... good times.
I saw the Dortmund concert, I was there, what a fantastic night it was. I was serving with the British Army at the time and had never been to a concert before in Germany, man the germans rocked that night. Thanks for the uplaod, quailty does not matter it's the memory. 5 stars for that.
once you grew up listening to Elo Queen ELP yes, beatles and the likes you realize how poor music is nowadays.
what happened? technology ruined the ideas?young artist think that a song is made by pushing a few keys on a computer,
no way! you must strum your guitar george harrison masterpieces so so magical on a guitar only that is genius, and Jeff lynne is one of the last of that breed.
and the ultimate dream team band the traveling wilburys, unrepeteable
Well, Endrizo, as Jeff Lynne has proven, time and time again, technology only helps yo enhance and improve the music. By pressing that button or touching that key we can make a normal, mundane chord or song utterly fantastic. Sorry, it's not the technology that has ruined much of todays music. It's society, new generation, new ways of thinking. I seriously think that if these songs were re-released, and marketed properly (unlike ZOOM) they could be as popular as when I was a teen so long ago.
Endrizio is right. Like you said technology can "enhance" music. But there needs to be music to enhance, which is the problem. They never actually sit down with an instrument and play. It's a matter of pushing a button, and boom you've got your generic drum beat. Where years ago that would've taken a recording or two to get right. Most importantly though, the human element is missing. Music from a machine and songs written by a few elite pop "masterminds". I'm not saying you're wrong though.
I think I was totally misunderstood here. I do not like the music that is coming out today, I simply meant that in the right hands, and with the right music, technology can make it amazing. A great example is "Don't Bring Me Down", The drum loop on that song is pure genius. So called "musicians" of today, are plain lazy. They steal their "music" from real artists of the past, and pretty much talk over it, as in rap & hip-hop. Artists like Jeff Lynne used technology to make the music others steal
Brings back memories of seeing the TIME concert at Wembley. This song opened the concert with a little R2D2 type robot wheeled out on stage doing the prologue - wicked! Have been a fan since early 70's
I remember buying the Time album in about 1982. I was very fortunate to have a JVC Quad amp (which I've still got in my shed), and Bolivar speakers with 12 inch bass cones. When the bass cuts in (00:37 in this clip) it was something else. Since then, I've enhanced it with Audacity, now when I play it with a subwoofer that goes down to 25Hz, it 'feels' wonderful. The drum link to Twilight is brilliant, and the Richard Tandy piano solo is masterful. One of my favorite ELO tracks of all time.
What wonderful memories this brings back. I saw this tour in Ft Worth Texas.I think it was Feb 1982. I can remember feeling a bit sad because the strings were almost totally gone from their performances.
Still, the show was fab! Thanks for posting this!!!
Waaaaah!!!! It is great, great.... oh, what I wanted to say?... eeer, yes, of course, it´s GREAT :-)
ELO was my first music (back in 1981 in Czechoslovakia, when I was 12 years old) and this is something I´ve always dreamed to hear. Thank you!!! And please, add something more....
A Note - on this particular Gig, drummer Bev Bevam was replaced by Pete King from 'After the Fire' because Bev was in Hospital in England with Kidney Stones.
And if you want more audio clips of the show, comment and I'd be pleased to post them.
Note also, that the only existing footage of all the Time Tours are poor mp3 files, so i apoligise for quality.
I will never forget Kelly Groucutt and he sounds fantastic here! RIP Kelly, I love you. ELO is a phenomenal band live. I saw them in 1978.

@TheZookyDragon
I was there - this must be Stuttgart - I saw them in Cologne - sadly without Bev, because he was ill.
He was replaced by the drummer from AFTER THE FIRE - the band that opened the shows on that tour.
He was not able to play all the original drum breaks which are played here - so this must be Bev playing.

I wish they had visited here in Finland in Time tour in 1981 or 1982. Jeff Lynne later
said in an interview, that´s a country I have never visited. That was in 2001 when Zoom- project failed.

Put "ELO Indian Queen" into the search engine, as someone has thankfully loaded up one of their "never heard before songs" and it is excellent.

Thanks for putting this up, like so many others i grew up on this album. I envy you to have seen them live. What did you record this on?
The live sound is incredible, not many bands nowadays can reproduce their songs so well live.
Thanks again.
