He really nails it at "La speranza" toward the end of the aria. What note is that he is singing? I seems even higher then most tenors sing it. Or maybe it's just the way he skyrockets to the note that makes it sound so huge.
I much prefer his earlier studio recording, which also features Albanese, Munsel, and Warren at their absolute best. Here di Stefano has started to spread his voice alarmingly, although we still get the superb attention to the text and character.

Anyway, I love Di Stefano, but his notes beyond the A always were a bit screamed. Here too.

I like this version more. Here Pippo has a voice more dark.
His live 'Che gelidas' is very beauty too, but his voice was too light, too clean, too pure.
