I remember this special...they made a HUGE deal about how the disclaimer at the end of the "Guess Who" board game ad said "pictures do not actually talk"...Was it really THAT big of a problem?
@JepMasta - Their issue was actually in that, originally, the Guess Who commercial did NOT have this disclaimer, and many disappointed kids found that out the hard way.
okay, if anyone's ever seen the show smart guy, with taj mowry, doesn't the host look like that pedofile from the episode when tj and that girl try to buy video games?
Hey kids dont have fun with toys and enjoy your childhood become a 30 year old webshow host who sniffs markers, is so jaded he cant enjoy anything, and secretly wishes for deaths sweet embrace. man....this show took my innocence.
ffs some1 help these kids!!! obviously it wont go on water becuase ur launching it from wayy to close!!! u need to 1st build some speed be4 u can see it hover on water!!! dum kids !!!!
What's with the retard kids trying to launch it from the end of the ramp. I can promise you that if you actually got some speed, it would work fine. Commercials are bullshit, though, and need to be taken with a grain of salt.
@GatorAide99 Of course they're bull, but it's not like this shit is any better. It's deceptive as hell. Of course it's not easy to control and it's not gonna launch off a ramp if you do it like that, but they don't tell ya that cause they want it to look bad. I never had much interest in RC vehicles myself because I couldn't control them well, but I didn't blame the product I blamed myself because I knew I sucked. I got better as I actually practiced and had patience with them.
Misleading commercials is one reason I stopped buying Lego. Remember that big castle called Royal Knight's Castle, on the pictures it looked so big but when I bought it and put it togheter it was ridicilously small and I felt so disappointed and never bought Lego again.
I got this lesson in first grade, but I knew it already since I had a Kartwheel Katy(or carly, can't remember her name) and she never kartwheeled right. Maybe every once in a while.
My mom taught me as seen on tv were fake by buying me the balloons that never pop at a store(you blow them). I poked it with a fork, and it slowly but surely deflated.
This show looks like it was made in the 80s or 90s. I like that.
I wish I had known better when I was younger (at least my parents did, and they had the money, not me) Now things are easier. We have internet reviews. We let others try it before we buy it.
what is this?!?!? this video is anti-american. we need to teach kids to BUY BUY BUY! that's the american way. it's healthy for the economy. it's what jesus would've wanted.
And those kids whining about how it won't jump from a *standing start*, and about how it's hard to control? Sheesh, get in there and explore and practice and modify. It's a *toy* FFS! *Play* with the freaking thing!
@berlin45ers I had that Typhoon .. it was cool to drive over the lake I lived on. But the battery power was awful on it. I'm typing as I watch this.. it actually did go on water pretty well. But look how the kids launched it. They put it on the edge of the ramp, and the producers let them. That's just stupid. If you let the thing go for a while it would launch a little better than that. Not as cool as in the commercial, but not as bad as those kids made it look either. The battery was bad.
Hey Frank! You should upload this and the Food Ad Tricks to TeacherTube. That way we can steal--I mean use-- your lesson plan a little more easily. Youtube is blocked in my district, for example.

little punks need to give the typhoon 2 more momentum before they decide to launch it in the water. I bet if you gave me like 10 minutes maneuvering that typhoon I could do the same thing it is doing in the commercial...besides those toys are for young adults, not 10 year olds.
they need to remake this series for everything. that includes toys, food, anything. photoshop and what not

The reason those kids couldn't drive the Typhoon 2 is probably because the people in the commerical had to practice driving it for the commercial.

the irony is looking at these stupid kids, simply reinforces the commercial.

It didn't even float on top of the water for a very long time when you just put it on there, so it's still a dud product.
donjabroni 2 years ago
the idea of not leting the toy gain speed befor entering the water IS wrong !!
maybe it will not sink if the did so
bintlooda 2 years ago
Yeah, launching anything from the middle of a ramp at a stand still is just going to end up flopping over. These kids fail at basic physics.
Hindermore 2 years ago 78
@Hindermore True... but it's a toy for kids right? So it seems fair to test it in the way kids will play with it.
curiousjapan 1 year ago
@curiousjapan When I was a kid, even I knew that you needed to build up significant momentum before getting air on a jump.
