  • Amazing band !!! Great sound !! Which years ?

  • @GeraldSpaceable. From 2002 :)

  • These guys beat "asshammer" 10 fold!

  • Very Yes, But got to say they hold the same deep thought as they do.

Following Yes from the begining & bringing Trever on board I didnt think he could cut it cause he struck me as flashy. But once see him do a solo tune I found right away he was very DEEP in thought in his musical love and these guys hit me very much so as well. Break a Leg guys! :)

  • The truth will set you free.....but first, it will piss you off!

  • 0:39 EPIC FACE

  • It starts out like "YES" .

  • Jag tycker soltan på trummorna är bättre än Zalasar!

  • They opened their Nearfest performance with this, if I remember correctly. Really great show, over after just a few songs. Really long songs, granted.

  • The music's okay, but the singing is awful.

  • TOTALLY AWESOME!! this is my favorite album! i want to get the DVD! but here in mexico is near to impsible... GREAT VIDEO!!!!

  • @sapomusaburres Stop complaining! you can get any CAST CD you want. Try that in Holland !

I'm just kidding and I know do how to get CAST CD's. Anyway greeting from the otherside of the world and if you happen to see any CAST member walking by, tell them I said thanks.

  • @69drummerdude HOW CAN I GET THE "MEET THE FLOWER KINGS DVD"!?

    D:!!!!

i want it!!! its just awesome... here in Mexico, here is a store called "Mixup" and a year ago, you can fin all The Flower Kings discs ( No DVD) but.. like 2 months ago.. they decide to delete all the Prog Rock section!!!! ( WTF WERE THEY THINKIN'!!!?)

so... now its harder to get any good cd...

  • Thank you so much ThesumofNoEvil for showcasing one of the most talented unrated bands. Unbelieveable talent!

  • Zoltan church is fantastic!! The drummer!!!

Kolla in reingoldrecords punkt kom i shoppen

  • i love the 2 guitar-part =)

  • i love the double-guitar-play =)

  • I wish someone would make tabs of this song

  • Yeah ! One of my favorite Flower Kings song...

  • Sweet!!! I totally forgot about these guys! I remember thinking "what Yes song is this" when I first heard them years ago. GREAT band!! Shame on me for forgetting them.

  • over time , i have come to realize this is nothing but geysing

  • Wow! I thought this kind of music was extinct after the 70s! So nostalgic. And expansive. Opens doors in the psyche

  • @OdysseyIntoOblivion

dude the song is amazing and the dancing looks wesome with the song :O pure art

  • Is it me or is this singer a lot better than Roine Stolt? Don't get me wrong, Roine can write and play guitar like a genius but he's not that great of a singer.

  • I love the music...but the ballet dancing was unnecessary.

  • @xXPredraGXx

    It's probably a custom.

  • I own the CD for this concert and I could hardly believe it was live! FK can really replicate their songs - epic or otherwise - as so close to the original recording. This is a great epic by FK!

  • @prog4evr

This is a lot like what Yes did. They played in the studio at the same time and recorded it then just did a few overdubs here and there and of course the singer has to do it again but that's about it.

These days most bands record everything seperately but I like the idea of the band just walking in the studio and recording and having it not take that much time.

  • @OdysseyIntoOblivion wrong. Close to the edge was made piece by piece over weeks and months in the studio with a lot of interband struggle. Bruford left due to it.

  • @TOREMJ Is that when Bruford got hired from Genesis to play drums live in Seconds Out? That was 1977....

  • @vampiroangelico He left and joined King Crimson in '72 before the release of Edge. The Genesis gigs (which were even better due to him) came in '77. I loved his playing on Cinema Show.

  • @randomscience1 I loved his playing in the whole Seconds Out album! He did not sound like Phil Collins (which is an awesome drummer) but yet gave that live album his own touch, adding a little different flavor to the songs that was very enjoyable.

  • @vampiroangelico I totally agree! I saw them at Vanderbilt University - fantastic experience. Also had the pleasure of seeing him live with his short lived UK band. He is my favorite drummer ever. I hear he's retired now.

Check out Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree if you haven't already. Have a great (fill in appropriate holiday)!

  • @randomscience1 LOL I'm white so I guess you "could" have said "Christmas", although I am somewhere in between Roman Catholic and agnostic....Regarding Porcupine Tree, I already have a few of their albums and I love them. Some of my very favorite drummers (and I'm a guitarist) are Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Kim Plainfield, Simon Phillips, Jeff Porcaro, Phil Collins, Chester Thompson, Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Colaiuta, Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy when he doesn't shove that double-bass everywhere!

  • @vampiroangelico You just gave me a few drummers to check out - thanks. And merry christmas to ya!

  • @randomscience1 I believe you'll end up liking all of them, but for different reasons.

I never listened to (or played) just one style of music.

Ever since I started playing music, I've always been into different styles of music, like progressive rock, jazz-fusion, some metal, AOR, classic rock, country, blues, 1940s swing, classical, chamber music, new age, goth rock, alternative....I just believe there's good and bad in every music genre.

  • I think proggers are comers in the music world. Prog isn't all that obscure, not as it was in say 1993 or whatever.

I have almost every FK albums... figured I could do without their live DVDs... but hearing this I think I've got to get this too. ...Definitely a different take on the music. Good stuff.

  • One best themes from history of the music : "The Truth Will Set You Free"

  • Mä vaan en tajua noita balettitanssijoita.

  • Who's on bass? That's not Jonas right?

  • yes indeedie, Jonas all the way! I would have thought any Flower Kings fan should have been able to recognize purely by his playing style.

  • Amazing

  • that is daniel gildenlow singing, right? It doesn't look like him - but it sort of sounds like him and I heard he was the singer for Flower Kings, so...

  • yuppers

  • I believe the whole band sings. If I understand correctly, Daniel is sometimes a part of the live setup. Daniel is here 3:12. The one singing (the one with the black accoustic guitar) is Hasse Froberg. Daniel is more often the background singer (which he, obviously, does perfectly )

  • @flashcrome: At the time when this DVD was released, Daniel was an official member of the band. Didn't last very long unfortunately

  • He plays backing guitar, keyboard, percussion and background vocals. He's behind the keyboards at the far left

  • these guys are the best of the Neo-prog bands, hands down...spock's beard has drifted off as well as many others but these guys, stay true and continue to make music that reminds you of classic prog but is still fresh.

and this song...imo their best work...makes any album it's on, be it meet the flower kings or unfold the future, worth the cost of admission alone!

  • These guys are really awesome! I just got my first album of their's and love it - and this is even better!

  • They're fantastic !!! Swedish Bands are great!!!

  • These guys can uncannily pull of the vocal harmonics of Yes.... And Jonas might as well be Chris Squier with that bass tone/skill. Would love to see them cover Close to the Edge!

  • If you like TFK's vocal harmonies, you absolutely MUST listen to Moon Safari. The have got the best vocals and vocal harmonies in the history of prog!

  • GRANDI

  • this is out of this world, is amazing.

  • I feel like I've heard this song before, even though I don't remember ever listening to any of the Flower kings' songs before. Huh.

  • I kinda know what you mean... the first time I heard those first keyboard notes (apart from being totally overwhelmed by the awesomeness of them), I felt like I had heard them before...

  • I have this DVD. I bought it! It's really good to have, and I have the special edition with the audio CD's. I don't have most of their albums, though - most of their albums are on Napster, I just listen from there.

  • which album is this song from?

  • Unfold the future.

  • unfold the future

  • thanks pain of salvation, thank daniel gildenlow, thanks wikipedia! i would have never heard such an amazing band if it wasn't for a simple coincidence and the last mentioned factors. :) BRILLIANT.

  • Bands like this are so hard to come about. Gentle Giant, Genesis, Yes...all in one. Just a mind blowing band. Fantastic.

  • @poodius7 You are so right!

  • Excelente! Grande banda!!!

  • When that dude and chick came out in white leotards the first thing that popped into my mouth was happy and frothy vomit-my friend just laughed, but it made me angry due to the fact that i almost vomited and i felt compelled to kick my pet penguin in the beak, unfortunately now he's dead all because of those retards in the leotards.

  • what are u talking about?

  • what am I talking about?...clearly you can tell that the way the Christmas bags of peanut M&M's are different then the normal ones is much the same way that situations in which documents that appear in various publications regarding farm equipment and other vast human (and other) resources are most likely brought up on charges by an old lady screaming "Litigation will be pending!"

Now as recently as yesterday I noticed I have an extremely powerful bass rig (bi-amped at 2250 watts rms)

  • You are my fucking hero

  • I remember my first beer....

  • lol...beer? -I never touch that stuff due to my intellect potentially being damaged.

  • Then you were born in that condition?

    insert obligitory LOL.

  • These guys are fantastic. Their recent live show blew me away.

  • does anyone knows where can i download the cd's of this band? i really love it but i can't find it anywhere :S

  • yeah, it's called iTunes, or BUY the CDs. They deserve your purchase! Besides, you can't download any of their CDs for free, they're just not popular enough for people to make them available like that. I actually downloaded nearly all my Flower Kings albums on iTunes, really good way to buy music. it's really cheap compared to buying CDs, and it's easy enough to just burn them to CD once you download them.

  • thnx for the tip smarty boy... but for your information, not all of us are allowed to spent 1 buck per song to download a full discography of them... and i'll let you do the maths, 1$ per song and 10 songs per CD. how many $ are in total?... be my guess

so... if you really like this guys, why don't you upload some of their CD's to a torrent so ppl who can't afford to pay for all of the songs can download it? don't be so selfish ¬¬

  • Don't buy by song man! Buy by album, you save a lot (so click "buy album," not "buy song", they're avg about $11 each on iTunes. go out and buy a $20 iTunes gift card for yourself, make an iTunes account, redeem the iTunes card following the instructions on the back of the card, and have fun shopping for music! You don't even have to buy their whole discography at once, buy it slowly and save money to do so.

  • And another thing, not giving everyone the stuff I bought for free isn't selfish... and isn't saying something like "why don't you upload some of their CD's to a torrent so ppl who can't afford to pay for all of the songs can download it?" kind of like saying "I can't afford to by something, so I'm going to steal it until I can?" Get a job or something, earn money and buy the things you want honestly, not using the old, bad excuse " I deserve this for free, because I can't pay for it."

  • A cheapskate downloader calling people selfish? Geez

If you like these guys, they deserve to be paid for their music. They have to eat too you know. Selfish

  • Although I do not agree with stealing music. Download Vuze and seach The Flower Kings. Choose the complete discography, the size is 3.35GB

    Don't get mad at me, I said I don't think it's right.

  • omg guys... do you want this band to continue their music? they wont if u download all the songs... ffs the band deserves the bloody money.

  • That's why I bought at least 5 of their disks as well as payed $110 to see them with a friend and $20 for a shirt. They are very nice people, I got to chat with Roine, Hasse, and Jonas. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny or more to see them live. Unbelievable.

  • all of you guys are dicks. how do you know that they actually give a shit about who downloads their music and who doesn't? i bought the cds because i didn't feel like finding a torrent. srsly, no need to act like 12 year olds. just enjoy the music. be glad that there's even a band this amazing around. haha.

  • I heard the live version of this song well before the original and I must agree that this is the most incredible live vocal performance I've heard ever.

  • I love how Jonas switches between fretless and fretted basses. It's amazing how dead on the vocals are. Never seen a band who's vocalist can sound exactly the same in the studio and live. Not even Dream Theater, I hate admitting it since DT is my favorite.

  • Hasse's interpretation for this song always scare me (or something like that). It's so absolutely flawless and perfect and moving and epic and all... both the studio & live versions.

I have no words to say just how much I enjoy his vocals on this tune.

  • He sounds exactly the same. That is a talent in itself. Perfection is almost never accomplished. Such beauty in this song. It's unbelievable. This is one of the only bands I get "the feeling" listening to them.

  • i reckon this live version sounds better than the studio version. same goes for garden of dreams.

though it could be cus ive been listening to these versions for ages before listening to the originals.

  • guys I´m transcribing this amazing piece!

feel free to tell me your thoughts!

    roberto

  • neat, I have transcribed the first part "Lonely Road" for the keybaord. check it out on youtube, it's under "Jamie Bertram plays "The Truth Will Set You Free" on his M3

  • one of the best bass players I´ve ever heard

    great band, great song :)

  • Jonas is awesome!

  • Most definitely

  • I always thought that it was a shame that Garden of Dreams pt. 1 was the only track from this DVD on Youtube. I decided to take matters into my own hands. Enjoy.

  • thz for uploading. Really enjoy.

  • Garden of dreams isn't on youtube anymore =/
