  • how can u get exchange scholarship? :DD

  • One question: Do you have to be in FCCLA to be part of one?????

  • @narutoshowfan101 she says that like five times in the video

  • Attention ppl: Use your headphone!

  • I really have been looking into this for quite sometime and i really want to apply for the scholorship but i have a zero chance. mainly because i've never taken a class that has anything to do with FCCLA and this would be my first year in it if i even sign up. I'll still have no classes to do with it. what was your application like? did you have a lot of family and consumer science classes? and how long had you been in FCCLA?

  • @deidarafreak666 no problem ;D i'll post up more videos when i go back to japan in a couple years!

  • Hey I love your video and its giving my a lot of ideias. But there is one problem... I live in Portugal.. will FCCLA still accept me?

  • @FelipaElizabeth that is so awesome that you live in portugal haha, i'd love to go there one day -- and no, FCCLA is an american organization, so i'm pretty sure it won't be in portugal; check out the YFU website though, they might have something for you! and if not, try finding other sites like YFU! good luck!

  • @nuggetz0r Thanks for that info but i think i've foung a web site for portuguese studentes and i sing up. my fingers are crossed so that they accept me! Well if you ever come to portugal.. let me know. good luck too :)

  • @nuggetz0r who payed the 8,000 dollars?

  • @CatStarxo the companies who were giving the scholarship paid for it, kikkoman and fccla

  • You are so lucky. I live up in Canada and we only have French exchanges, which no one is interested in -_- I want to do a Japanese exchange but it's just too expensive and I can't host someone else.

  • @xXxComeBackToMexXx I don't know where you live in Canada (and I don't know if you're in highschool or university), but there are several opportunities to do student exchanges in several different countries in any languages. I did a semester exchange in South Korea with my university, and a monthly bursary from my provincial government of about $750. It is an incredibly tedious process, but it's incredibly worth it in the end.

  • @xXxComeBackToMexXx why can't you host someone else? and any kind of foreign exchange sounds good to me, i've always wanted to learn french in school but opted for spanish instead. either way, if i could go on a french exchange on scholarship, i'd take it!

  • If there's any grade 10 out there wanting to go to japan for a short or long time AND you are in Canada, New Zealand, Australia or America, type in google: Yamate Gakuin high school exchange + your country and find the one saying Yamate Gakuin in yokohama. The thing should have government in front. BUT HURRY! The application is due before the end of JANUARY 2011!! HURRY! THIS EXCHANGE IS EPIC!! :3

  • i am a 10th grader right now so if i could sign up next year in the winter as an exchange student would i go to japan as an 11th grader or as a senior?

  • @Himmele94 It depends what program you go through. I'm through Rotary National Exchange and I'm here my 11th grade year so next year I'll be back in the States doing my senior year. We also had the option to take a "gap year" where the year after you graduate you go. I think that's the best option because then you're not worried about the year counting or not or getting behind.

  • @Himmele94 i think you'd be able to go as a junior, though i'm not sure -- you should check with the specific program you're applying for

  • How did you convince your parent to let you do this?

  • @JanellePVB6M5E9 i didn't really have to, they knew i was going one way or another -- that's just the relationship i have with my parents, though

  • How much spending money did you take with you and did it last you throughout the whole time you were there? Were you there for the whole school year?

  • @KwonJiYongMaiVa

I'm an exchange student in Mexico, and I took $1000 dollars and then my exchange program gave me $80 dollars a month and it was about enough. The only time I had to ask for money was going to do trips with my school or with my exchange club.

  • @ExpatGirls how long did you go to mexico for? and that's awesome your exchange gave you money, i wish mine did haha

  • @KwonJiYongMaiVa i took $500 USD with me when i was there, and yeah it lasted me pretty well, i spent it on a lot of stupid things though, so i think that should be enough -- then again, if you're a shopaholic, you should probably take more

  • For the company, the educator evaluation is a language teacher evaluation or can it be any teacher? Which teacher did you have review you?

  • @honorstudent97 it can be any teacher, i had a history teacher and a science teacher write my recommendations -- although i'm guessing it would be better if a language teacher wrote it, haha, especially if its in the language of the country you're applying to go to

  • hi!!plaease answer my question so did you pay that company 8000 dollars or can you just get in by not paying anything

  • @MrDontclickthisname you can either apply for scholarships, which diminish the cost of the program, or you can pay the full cost -- depends on what you want

  • Yfu Or G lol get it

  • Hey I got this scholarship for this year (: Love your blog I cant wait to go! I leave in 10 days!

  • @KTKeybladeMaster CONGRATS! have a blast :)

  • @KTKeybladeMaster ahhh sorry i'm replying so late, but that's awesome that you got it! hope you had an amazing time!

  • How did you learn Japanese? Or like was that the point of you going over there; to learn japanese? Or did you have a program/class at school that prepared you ? Haha Or have you already answered that question in another video???

  • @babyblueeyes66 i didn't know any japanese prior to leaving for this trip; i learned some of the vernacular while i was over there but since i didn't know the language to begin with, it was much more difficult for me to get around; i went there for a new cultural experience, and there's orientation that comes with the program to prepare you for a foreign exchange.

  • @nuggetz0r for the scholarship from Youth 4 Understanding, which scholarship was it? also, if you didn't know how to speak or write, how did you write the host family letter required 4 a scholarship?

  • @honorstudent97 it was the FCCLA/KIKKOMAN scholarship, and i wrote the letter in english

  • Hello, Well do you know if there is anything in texas? i want to go to japan and am trying to find a good orginazation to use, and somehow get a scolarship.

  • @nilorac123321 nope, sorry

  • Hello. I have a FCCLA in my school. Glynn Academy in georgia? Don't know if you've heard of it, but Im a tenth grader right now and I was wondering if it's okay to sign up for the scholarship to japan now? I was in FCCLA last semester and also, is there a certain amount of years you should be in it? Thank you and sorry it's so long.

  • @Sweetbloodkisses sorry i'm replying so late, i dunno if this'll help, but you can definitely still apply! check out the application online

  • how long did you stay in japan...

was it a month?..6 months?..coz i went to the internet and they said the usual length in the program is around 6-12months...

i'm in my junior year and i would like to go to the program but i don't want to stay half of my senior year in japan..so how long was your program?

  • @gamegina mine was 6 weeks long, and it was a summer program

  • Hello!

I applied for the Kikkoman National and Toyota Nationwide scholarships, also through YFU. But I literally have found NO winners of either scholarship online. It's kind of puzzling, really :/

Did you meet any during orientation?

  • Actually, now that I think about it, ...no! I met other people from MY scholarship, but then again that might because there were several different departure/orientation dates, so they might have been chunked together in another group.

  • @TheAgentOfChaos yeah, i did -- i think they only choose like 1-2 people though, so maybe that's why its hard to find? i'm not sure

  • Comment removed

  • what grade are you in and how long was your stay and do you need to know japanese beforehand or do you learn somehow?

  • @animeismiluver i was going to be a senior in high school and i didn't know any japanese, it really depends on how long you stay and what program you go with

  • lol i love you olivia

  • Another question...apologies but was it difficult to fill out the applications etc...? I get really nervous when it comes to talking to people or filling out tests ect...I live in Kansas btw so i dont know if there is anything out here

  • the only difficult thing about the applications was the sheer length of the whole thing; you just have to put down a lot of information about yourself, your family, your school, etc., and some of the information can be difficult to find. it's like a college application but 10x longer...and not as much pressure. if you get nervous talking to people, practice before your interview because that's a vital part of the scholarship process.

  • to continue off my previous comment, i met someone in kansas while i was in japan, and he was awesome! we hung out like, every other day in the city. don't worry about where you live; if anything, you have a better chance being out in kansas!

  • Question...if you only know like a few words would you still be able to go to another country (JAPAN FOR ME!!) and also where could I get a visa and if I need any shots.

  • @dabeatmaster123 uhhh all of this depends on the program you're going with, and you don't need any shots for japan but i don't know where you'd get a visa
