You can check the AT&T site for a ROM upgrade - that will update the software on it. Unfortunately you'll lose everything on the phone - it puts it back to how it was when you took it out of the box.
I like the tilt, I have been using it since August 2008. The keyboard is very nice to have and the tilting screen makes it much easier to see what you are doing without your hands cramping up on you.
I definatly recommend getting a carrying case for the phone, since it's a touchscreen it is very easy to accidentally make phantom calls or start a song on WMP.
It takes about 3 hours for a complete charge, doing it at night is the best. It will run about 4 days with normal use.

I guess you don't know as much as you think then: I'm in Canada, so I wasn't using an AT&T SIM. When a GSM phone is unlocked, which this one was, it can use any SIM. I was using a SIM from Fido, a Canadian GSM carrier.

The tilt is an att branded phone but like most other phones that run on a gsm network it comes locked but it can be unlocked. Also provided if he did not want to get the tilt. He could have gotten the HTC Kaiser which is the tilt just not with the ATT logo on it

Yes, that should work - but I don't have an iPhone, so I'm not sure. Apple went through a lot of trouble to make sure the iPhone only worked with the AT&T SIM, so for all I know they did something "special" with the SIM that would make it not work in the Tilt. Because that's just what Apple does... ;-)
Hey there even though Jason answered your question I just feel like answering it too. I currently have the AT&T Tilt. As long the sim card is AT&T and its a 3G sim card it should work. I don't think you will get any charges because probably you have a sim card with a data plan since you got the iPhone.
Well yes you can put your sim card from the iphone into your att tilt, however you will get charged for data when your on the tilt. The iphone unlimited data plan only covers data when using the iphone, no other device..if you manage to get away with it when your using other devices your lucky because i still got charged with data when i used other devices

It was a brand. Then Microsoft changed things and now "smartphones" with the lower case "s" are just that...smart phones. The touch screen vs. non-touch screen phones are called Windows Mobile Professional smartphones vs. Windows Mobile Standard smartphones. Confused yet? ;-)
I think that out of box experiences matter to the consumer, who generally isn't going to be very patient. Why can't these customizations already be installed so when the user boots up the phone for the first time it's ready to go? That's the way most phones on the market work.
yea thats actually true I didn't really think about that they should have already had them installed. And now that I ordered mine and it should be coming in any day when I turn it on the last thing I'm gunna want to do is wait for the phone to start up.
I was FORCED to have 3 DIFFERENT Pantech Duos in under three months. It's such an awful phone and Pantech is such an uncaring and bad company. NO ONE should EVER own ANYTHING from Pantech. Especially the Duo. It's $200+ pure shit.
In the beginning the Pantech Duo is good but after a while it get worse. I have a lot of friends that were disappointed that they have a Pantech Duo due to its poor durability. I have the Blackberry Curve 8310 from AT&T so far its good.
I resent that because i use the touch screen on my tilt i have had it for about 4 months now and its still as clean as the day i got it, all you have to do is actually clean the screen, which i do everynight
I say if you want some texting machine. Get the Blackberry Curve 8310 its also from AT&T. It has a good QWERTY keyboard compare to Pantech Duo. You can actually feel that your pressing the keys in the Blackberry Curve 8310 compare to Pantech Duo. Just happen that Blackberry Curve 8310 has EDGE only compare to the AT&T Tilt and the Pantech Duo which has 3G and Windows Mobile or you can just always get the Samsung Blackjack II.

No you don't have to pay for wi-fi, and if your concered about your data, search google for a program called No-Data, its a Windows Mobile program that shuts off all data acess except wifi so you dont get charged for data

You download onto your computer or storage card what is called a CAB File, then extract that to your phone via USB or Storage Card and then open the program when it gets placed on your phone/storage card and then the installer automaticly kicks in

Yes, there are many free and commercial applications for getting weather on the device. It's running Windows Mobile, so just do a search for Windows Mobile weather applications, and you'll find a lot of options.
Yes, you can use the on-screen keyboard with the stylus. The regular on-screen keyboard isn't all that great, there are some good software keyboards made by other companies like Resco and Spb Software House.

Yes, you can make any of your photos as device wallpaper. It has a silent mode. It's a touch screen - anything with a stylus is a touch screen device.
You get the Tilt at a local AT&T store... that's where you get all the AT&T phones, except the unlocked ones which need to be purchase online, but i rufly find the unlocked ones scratched and beaten when i recieve them in priority mail.

It depends on what you want - it's a powerful device with a good CPU, lots of RAM, and all the goodies. But it's also not all that small, so it's a trade off.
I had a duo and then made the switch to tilt. My vote goes to tilt. Tilt has bigger keyboard, better voice clarity, higher mp camera and GPS. Also the tilt screen makes you feel like you are working on a mini laptop. I do miss the dual sliding action that the duo offers. You can't go wrong with either but I give the edge to the tilt.
That doesnt make sence. You have a Tmobile Dash and you said you took out the SIM to use it with the Tilt which is AT&T.... hmm...

i got my tilt about a year and a half ago when it came out new and since then i havent updated it at all.
it has been going REALLY slow lately and freezes on me all the time espesially when im txting.

There is no legal way to get TouchFlo 3D onto your device - it's only available on HTC-branded devices.

What "touch interface" are you talking about? The TouchFlo 3D from HTC phones? That only comes on certain HTC phones.

Wrong - the Tilt was unlocked for me. I used it with my carrier at the time, Fido. I'm in Canada, so I couldn't use AT&T even if I wanted to. ;-)

i had one and while it was good for a teen, it was very poorly built. That for me was the biggest problem with deviced, in terms of for teenagers

Yes, there are many free and commercial applications for getting weather on the device. It's running Windows Mobile, so just do a search for Windows Mobile weather applications, and you'll find a lot of options.

Yes, you can use the on-screen keyboard with the stylus. The regular on-screen keyboard isn't all that great, there are some good software keyboards made by other companies like Resco and Spb Software House.

My carrier is Fido - they charge WAY too much money for data, and they (along with their parent company Rogers) have an abusive monopoly on GSM phones in Canada, keeping prices artificially high - so why should I give them free advertising in my videos?

Yes, you can make any of your photos as device wallpaper. It has a silent mode. It's a touch screen - anything with a stylus is a touch screen device.

You get the Tilt at a local AT&T store... that's where you get all the AT&T phones, except the unlocked ones which need to be purchase online, but i rufly find the unlocked ones scratched and beaten when i recieve them in priority mail.

Yes, it records video. Not great quality video, but you can use it to take video clips like every other camera phone.

It depends on what you want - it's a powerful device with a good CPU, lots of RAM, and all the goodies. But it's also not all that small, so it's a trade off.

I had a duo and then made the switch to tilt. My vote goes to tilt. Tilt has bigger keyboard, better voice clarity, higher mp camera and GPS. Also the tilt screen makes you feel like you are working on a mini laptop. I do miss the dual sliding action that the duo offers. You can't go wrong with either but I give the edge to the tilt.
