Back then, it was not uncommon for a popular show to introduce a new show this way. Not sure if that was the case here, though. But it was still fun to see. (It's also fun to hear Adam West's voice on "Family Guy" sometimes. Agree?)

Addams Family (1964-1966) was previous to Batman (1966-1968). Madge Blake was in the first Addams Family episode. And Vito Scotti (who here plays Maty Dee) was a recurring actor in 4 or 5 Addams Eps.

Burgess' quack was really originated from his cough. The writers loved his sound and told him to use that in the show. The Penguin's dark side would emerge when Danny DeVito took the role in the second Batman.
