  • Although I am a fan of the Pennsylvania Railroad those british steam locos are nice.

  • @TheTrainman888 Thanks, but you also have some great Steam Loco`s over there

  • great video, love the cheap fuel joke lol

  • @smashtheashtray2010 If only.....I do remember ..just when it was 25 pence a gallon , now what is it nearly £6 glad you enjoyed the vid tryied to add a bit of humar

  • I spy a Hornby Elite.

Is it a good system? I am looking at getting one as they are quite cheap and look promising.

  • @RC4LIF3 Yes that is the elite, they are good, but if you are starting I would consider the Dynamis by Bachmann, I now have both , and prefer the dynamis

  • @howarth004 Really, I looked at that too but i thought the hornby looked a bit better with the dual knobs and just looks more solid, I'm not new been in to model railway for 9 years since i was 5! But I haven't done much in the hobby for a couple of years, i have a ez command but no loco's are chipped so it makes sense to go for a decent system now as i am selling my stock and changing era.

I also have lots of fleishmann n gauge (well my dad has most) which we run with a expensive german system.

  • nice commentary you added :)))

  • @svinehunden do I note a little sarcasem there? you carn`t have everything , I did some annotations.

  • @howarth004 oh no...

i just used the wrong word. i like it (:

model rail videos shouldn't have talk. only the tour (((:

  • @svinehunden O K no problem, I know you occasionaly have mentioned that I do not speak on my vids, silence is golden , as they say!!!

  • They work just like an analogue, but being dcc you can run up to 10 at one time, just set one off on it`s own function no. then go to the next. you can have up to 200 coded in to one controler.

  • Great! Love that little race @0:52. Those digital controllers look good. How do they work exactly?

    I`m currently using a HM 2000.

  • wow great layout

  • @flightsim004 TOOK ME 2 YEARS FROM SCRATCH AND NO PREVIOUS EXPERIANCE , SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT

  • unfortunatly i sold all my hornby - about a week afterwards i realised i made a huge mistake and now im building it all up again

  • @jakclarkstudios You should have kept it , they are getting better and better, bachmann make good ones as well.

  • i want an elite to run my layout n u use it for programming gee gee man

far can u send it to me n i will give u 25 pounds

  • @jmsschooner sory I need it , go on e bay

  • what do u use the elite for now

  • @jmsschooner I still use it on a programming track , find it`s easier than having to connect the other to programing track. also I use the Select for changing direction on the loco`s when on programme trasck , it`s easier

  • dose bachmann work with hornby

  • Yes no problem

  • Nice layout.

  • Thanks for your comment, you will get a better idea of the layout if you see the latest...Model Railway Dec. 2009

  • Yes I saw it thanks.

  • Fantastic very good thumbs up

  • how much was all that ? :)

  • When you enjoy a hobby you don`t count the cost, (I darn`t)

  • Very well done - enjoyed the whole thing

  • Thank you for your comment, have you seen my latest? Deltic @ Update nov 09

keep trying to improve , but my camera works not as good as yours.

  • How big is the layout in feet and inches please. Thanks

  • Its approx 22 ft. x 8ft but hoping to put another 5 ft on shortly

  • wonderful, hope mine will be as good. House hold authortties have given go ahead for loft. Will upload when I start.

not so sure with the sausage's, nice captions. well done

  • Thank you for your comment, hope all goes well with your loft conversion (I went through the floor breaking my ribs, then put a drill through a water pipe) look forward to seeing it, taken my 2 years for this and still adding and changing, great hobby though.

  • Fantastic ! I'm sooooo jealous you got a bigger loft than us Lol! Very good video really fun to watch. You can't beat sound dcc specially the class 24 !

  • Thanks for that , wish I had a fiddle Yard like yours, I seem to be short of room for parking up.

  • Hey if we put both layouts together we're both happy Lol !

  • Sounds like a good idea, need a longer loft though.

  • LOL !! 100% entertainment value !! Don't agree about Palethorpe Sausages though ....Walls everytime for me :-)

  • thanks for that (I prefer walls as well) don`t think they do one though, that is Hornby

  • WOW that was fun !! one of the best videos ive seen in a long time !! great fun 5stars and a fav

  • Thanks for that those captions just put a bit of comedy with it

  • Hi,

I agree entirely. This layout belongs in a model railway magazine. I too am a keen modeller and this is one of the best layouts I have seen for a long time. You have a very good eye for detail..

  • Thank you for your kind comment , it`s not that good, but I do like building and changing the layout

  • Hi

Very nice and a good size layout. I think the captions add to it. At around 48-55 seconds the middle loco racing has lights. I couldn't work out of the were working lights or not but look the part. How is Honest Johns business these days?

    Thanks for sharing.

  • thanks for the comment, the lights on the steam loco are not working lights, (not as experianced as you at that) only just got round to adding lights to the buildings, and I think Honest Dave`s car lot is having problems selling cars these days (credit crunch)

  • Great stuff. I think you should get in touch with Model Rail(magazine). Would be great to see this in their layouts that never leave home section. What do you reckon? 5* Cheers.

  • thanks ,but I don`t think its good enough for that

  • It's worth a try, as they are always on the look out for layouts to feature in their magazine.Any way great video & very nice layout, 5* cheers.

  • thanks again, i shall have to get model rail mag. I get Railway modeller, so a different magazine will make a change

  • Last edition of it has just come out today. Cheers.

  • GREAT! but whats up with the captions u dont really need them, plz reply

  • just found out how to use them , thought it would make the video a little funny, perhaps not?

  • No it definantly made it more entertaining

  • thanks ,I thought so as well,

  • you have a slight slope on your layout, how did you create this?, it would help because i am putting a slope in my layout, witch is called Kings Cross, the first bit (the station) is taken for a rough outline of it when steam was how the railway operated, then the rest i will design myself

  • sorry to dissapoint you, but its an optical illusion, its level all round

  • at 0:55 is the loco pulling the lner carridages the city of truo or not

    great layout 5*

  • thanks for comment , the loco pulling the lner`s is a windsor castle

  • 5* great vid i like the van train

  • thanks ...its getting a bit better...still trying to improve

  • How much did all of this cost you and what as the time period that you completed it in

  • I started 1 year last October after going to the Wakefield Model Railway Show and thought I would like to have a go at that, I don`t know (or my wife don`t know what it costs) a lot bought on E Bay I suppose about 2? but now i am retired I have enjoyed doing it especially on cold wet days

  • nice layout =) are you going to ballast your track? if so... use woodland scencics B94 ;)

  • thanks yes it needs some more ballast , I have done some but keep scraping it up to re laying track.

  • nothing like good old type 2 clag is there

  • yes carnt` beat it whats a 2 clag?

  • the class 24 is type 2 diesal

  • yes i thought it was it was the term clag which through me, now i know

  • Really good layout, well planned and I like the comments, gave me a chuckle.

  • thanks, yes I like to mess around funny thing is I didn`t know how I got it to let me do that... something called annotations o well gave me a smile as well

  • 5 stars

  • thanks again ...must try harder they used to say at school

  • I am not what you would call a real model railway fan,but I have to admire the time and dedication you must have spent.I recall watching Sir Nigel Gresley passing at Moss Askern when I was a boy, what a thrill...those were the days.

    But well done David,great layout.

  • thank you very much for your kind comments sir, its a good pastime and gets one away from the wife!!!!! Nearly as good as bikes Bill?

  • brilliant 5*

  • thanks mate

  • THIS IS COOL WELL DONE
